I was checking out their all star light rods, and they seem really nice. Each one has the technique it's designed for on the blank, Fuji ACS reel seats, Fuji Alconite guides. They were $90 and not on sale, though.

the reason it says it's for superlines is because that rod has a moderate action that makes up for the lack of stretch, and they're right, in principle (I've never fished one, so I can't comment on the action, but I usually hear good things.) I always use braid so I like mod-fast rods (some companies call it regular fast, Daiwa calls it reaction). They cast better, they set hooks better, they play the fish better. That's if you use braid. If you only use mono or fluoro lines you'd be better off with a fast or extra fast rod because it's the stretch in the line that moderates hook sets and runs from the fish, especially lower diameter lines. That stretch won't help your casting distance or accuracy, though, and on a long cast it can stretch too much, really diminishing your ability to get hook penetration. That's why I'm convinced that braid paired with a reaction rod is the only way to go with leaders as needed in clear water or around rip rap since nylon and fluoro have lower visibility and better abrasion resistance.

That's why it's important to use snaps, so you can try several baits until you find the one that is going to produce. Plus they are more secure than split rings and provide action comparable to a loop knot.

Yup, use a long glass composite rod, lighter than normal drag tension, and sharp hooks. I have a tatula 7'7" glass rod that launches 3/8-5/8 cranks with no effort and if I get a good bite, I land it. I don't set the hooks really at all. When I feel a bite I just keep reeling, keep tension on the line, and let the rod load up. Once I feel them trying to run, I might sweep the rod to the side just to be sure, but that's it. Then I just let the rod and drag play the fish until I get it in. That's another good thing about a long rod is you can have a nice buttery soft tip to absorb shock and maintain line tension, but still have plenty of backbone and leverage to steer the fish around obstacles. You can go with a glass rod, but they are heavier, lack sensitivity (which isn't paramount while cranking, but is nice) and the actions tend to be too slow to maintain control of the fish.

All my bass rods are Daiwa, so to me they fish as rated. When you look at the line/lure ratings for g Loomis, they are all a step lower than Daiwa. mh g Loomis = m Daiwa.

I have a luguna 2500 reel mounted to a 661MXF Laguna rod. It's a nice little combo. It doesn't fish x fast, though. It's better suited for cranks/topwaters or wacky rigs with a circle hook. I'll sell you the combo spooled with 14 lb fireline crystal for $50 if you're interested.

I just use like a jansport type pack. It's pretty good size. I can fit 5 3600 size boxes which have all my plastics, hooks, sinkers, jigs, spinnerbaits. I can fit 3 leader spools, braid cutters, needle nose, a couple bags of plastics, and a scale in the front pocket. I usually only walk around with two rods. I don't know how to carry those in the pack. I suppose I could modify it. If I'm fishing cranks, I take my tackle bag, but it's much lighter, so I don't mind the strap.

a T3 on that reel seat fits my palm perfectly my fingers fit right in the indention under the gearbox. Not so much on the tatula reel seat. Those are awesome for bigger reels like the tatulas, but with a really low profile one like a t3 it feels like there isn't enough to grab onto.

Definitely. I was torn between both models. It'll be interesting to see the differences in action. The 68l is a reg fast while the 69ml is x fast. I'll be using 20lb power pro super slick with an 8 lb (6 lb dia.) invisx leader.

I've been using a lexa ml/f for a couple of years and I love it. It has the perfect action for weightless plastics and anything finesse. All i ever fish is daiwa, so it feels like a ml to me. Anyway, the tatula series has two different types of spinning rods. The 63 and 611 should be rated light as they are rated 1/64-1/4. I hear the tips are really soft, like don't flip your fish in the boat unless you want a two piece rod soft. The ones over 7 are the stiffer actions.

Plat doesn't have either the 68L or 69ML. It'll be alright. I've had a rod or two shipped from amazon in a box like that reduced to carbon shards, but that aluminum rod actually seems like it might prevent that. I don't know. Time will tell.

why not try the 7'2" MHR tatula glass? It'll cast 1 oz no problem and is shorter for more accuracy. Personally, I love my 7'7" glass tatula. It casts well throughout its rated range. It has about the same mod-fast flex as the carbon version, but the tip is softer. And I'm very accurate in pitching cranks into tight spots with it. It's the most effortless casting rod I've ever used. 5/8ths seems to be the sweet spot, but 3/4s doesn't seem to strain it. I could see how it might not be so great on a kayak, though.

I know it. Just like when you land a pig on the first cast of the day.

out of those two, I'd get the gander mtn. However, if it was me, I'd go for the tatula ml in either 6'11" or 6'3". They are both rated 1/64-1/4 with ex fast tips. The shorter of the two is probably more sensitive. They can be found quite a bot below msrp.

I got the 68L shipped straight from Vietnam. FedEx says it will be here Thursday, so I bet you get yours a lot sooner. I think you ordered from the same seller. My delivery window was the same as yours.

For sure, man, no doubt. I probably won't be able to shut up about it, lol. I got the VKC-68L/BFS. Once I toss a few baits and land a few fish I'll write a detailed review. I know there's a lot of interest in these. I wish I'd have heard something sooner. I mean, they have bias blanks with the Daiwa style micro pitch finish, a mod-fast action, fuji SiC micro guides, and those ultra comfortable fuji ACS reel seats, so it should be an exceptional rod. I can't believe they go for so little cash. I watched a YouTube video of a guy sticking a nice bass with a revo ltx avail mounted to it and it looked sick. Can't wait to put it to the test!

couldn't take it. Just got the 68L. Found one on eBay for 150 w/free shipping. Hope it works with a T3 sv and kattobi air bearings and that my wife doesn't kill me before I get a chance to find out.

Do you have experience with these? Would the light be best for weightless plastics, shakey head, etc?

For a rage craw or something similar use an ewg hook that takes up most of the body of the bait when you rig it, that way if you get a bite you have a better chance of getting a hook set.
