lately TW hasn't been offering Daiwa as part of the sale, which is disappointing. Also, the regular prices for a lot of tackle on Amazon are usually as good as or better than other retailers' sale prices, anyway.

I use a snap because it's a more reliable connection than tying to the split ring, offers better action, and for the ease of swapping out baits.

the tatula 741HFB is built for frogging. They are light and powerful and can easily double up for c rigs and even deep cranks. Also, the handles are extraordinary. You can really wrench out a pig. And if you like full grips, well, they're close and more comfortable anyway IMO.

Really, I can't see anything being better than regular 10# power pro uni-uni'd to 6-8lb red label leader. Invizx is great, too, but for a 6 ft leader I don't think even a 50% cost increase to be justifiable. High vis braid is definitely a great choice for your mainline.

I have had the glass 771mrb all season and its awesome. I've thrown 3/4 without issue. I feel like an ounce is well within its capability. There is also a 721mhrb glass that would be better for dd22's, 10xd's, etc. I never go deeper than 20, anyway, so I don't worry about it. Anyway, I love that rod for pretty much anything with a treble hook. I have it matched to a T3 with 30lb braid and could just about bounce 1/2 oz cranks, spoons, and lipless off the moon if I wanted to, and if a get a bite, I'm getting that fish. They don't throw baits from that rod.

I use that and power pro super slick both and I like the power pro better. Aqua green is high vis and doesn't fade as fast or completely. Plus with the power pro you can tie a strong Alberto to your leader, while I can't get the 832 to hold one. A double uni works fine on the 832, but if you want to step up your leader diameter, I'm afraid you're SOL. I have 30 lb 832 on my cranking combo and always use 10-12lb diameter fluoro, so it works fine.

power pro super slick is very smooth and quiet out of the box. I have regular 10# power pro as a mainline for my finesse spinning combo and after a while the noise subsides. I kinda like it, though. Makes me feel like a literal fish catching machine.

I haven't used the carbon only version you have, but I do have a reaction rod and it fishes mod-fast. So does my glass one, but the tip is buttery soft.

man, I have the glass version of that rod and it shines with any hardbait. I use it for lipless, squarebills, shallow to semi-deep cranks (6xd), Zara spooks, poppers, jerkbaits, spybaits, you name it. I absolutely love that rod! It will never go unused for long.

Tatula type HD can be had for ~$150 on amazon. It's a 200 size reel with 100mm handles.

I can't wait to get one of those. I'll relegate it to 1/8-3/8 weights. I'm thinking weightless plastics and scatter raps. Need an alphas sv 105 too, though.

A standard san Diego IS the best fluoro knot hands down and yes, it works great with mono. Doubling it is awesome for braid, too. You might also look at the miller knot for fluoro dropshotting and as a terminal knot, too. Snelling is great for fluoro, also, but can be a PITA at times, especially with baitkeeper hooks, but its not impossible

you can get a 7.3:1 tatula for <$100 on amazon. That's what I use and it works great

Yeah, bite detection on slack line is braids on downfall. You can keep tension in it, though, and the benefits outweigh that, I think.

use braid and don't rapidly reel slack line. You just went from a line that was too heavy to one that is too stiff. Remember line twist doesn't affect braid and neither does line slap, frankly. Sometimes I get that when reeling quickly to take up slack caused by the wind and I don't have any line mgmt issues as a result.

I still can't figure out why righties want to palm the reel and control the fish with their weak hand. To me palming the reel with my strong hand is much more comfortable and i don't have to switch hands mid cast. The ONLY downside is that the handle can get in the way while flipping, but I'd rather pitch, anyway, and that's where a lh reel shines most of all.

no, Daiwa has stopped offering power ratios in lh retrieve. I don't see the point, anyway. I tried the lexa p model and found it much too slow. 6.3:1 is as low as I go.

EVA all the way. Except on reel handles, cork there is awesome.

definitely a mono leader. Braid will get all tangled up in your hooks.
