Yes i headed straight out to where the drop off was. I went upwind and let the wind drift me over. I made about 15-20 passes before i switched location. When it got darker and calmer i fished more of the shallow water.
  2. I forget what i used. I got my pb 5lb when i first started getting into fishing, i used shinners at this pond and got 5-6 lbs consitently so when i started using imitation baits a couple years later i thought it was average but then realized how lucky i was at first. They started holding tourneys here and it became a parking lot and no more big fish

Spent 3 hrs fishing today and not one bite! It was my second time to this pond, which is super clear water. Best way to describe this place is a soup bowl. The one with the wide edge then just a bowl in the center. This pond starts off at about 1FoW for about 20-30 yds almost exactly perfectly ringed around this pond with some slight deveations that drop to 12FoW and the center drops to about 30FoW their isnt any structure anywhere in the pond. (I dont have electronics so not sure what the deep looks like.no temp either)no rock piles, no undercut banks, no no weeds, no overhanging bushes, nothing. The wind was about 7mph when i got on the water at 5pm it then died down to zero wind about 7pm but had clouds and it got really dark. I fished crank baits, ratt-L-traps, a walking bait(forget the name its made by river2sea), T-rig 10" worm, arbogast buzz plug, arbogast jitter bug, chatterbait, spinnerbaits, and a rainbow trout swim bait. havent scored a bass in over a month now. So i know its not the fish its my error on not knowing how to transition with the fish. Or transition to an unfamiliar fishing hole . This is my first fall fishing and what a learning experience! Hope you all have better luck!
  4. Ok thanks! I personaly never buy into them much but my fishing buddy goes bye them. My opinion the fish every day just not as agressive as other days.
  5. How many people actully fish by the fishing calendars/astro tables? It says 10% fishing effecincy for today. Would you stay home or go out anyways?
  6. I love fishing in the fog with my canoe. I tend to fish ponds where gas motors cant get to so i feel no danger, but i never hit top speed while fog is around especially when you cant see 20 feet. Top water usually is on fire! I would have a different mind set if i was in a large body of water with other boats with gas motors.
  7. I tend to stop around november for two reasons. I fish from a canoe so its cold and 2 i cant get anyone to go with me. I dont really like fishing alone when its really cold out, just catious incase something might happen i wont be alone.
  8. Yeah i love fishing in the rain. It usually dead silent except for rain patter.
  9. Anybody else ever wake up on a rainy morning and feel like they need to go fishing while its raining? Its raining here in South eastern Mass. I just feel like i should be on the water in this light rain.

i had read somewhere that a pond that holds warm water fish and cold water fish is considered a two stage

  13. i have been looking into molds and injection. and im really interested in the practice. is it really worth it money wise after initial setup cost? or is it just nice to make your own the way you want?

thanks for the tips i usually fish shallow. however my friend likes this location and feels more comfortable fishing here at night as he knows the water good. not gonna argue with comfort factor but i would go somewhere different. but im just happy to be going out. im injured from a work accident and havent been able to get out lately. i have a decent array of baits chatterbaits, rat-L-traps, top waters, cranks, swim baits, jigs, plastic's, jerk baits(mostly jointed 6"), spinner baits. No electronics so it will be tough locating them

im headed out for a night trip tonight. my buddy wants to take me to a well known but good fishing hole. its considered a kettle pond that has two stages. max depth is 30 FoW. and dark water. what would be the best baits to throw? its supposed to be windy tonight and im not really sure what to throw or if it is even worth a nite trip in the wind. i got a arbogast buzz plug in black im gonna try and a frog. but not really sure what to throw. fall fishing is new to me especially nite fishing in the fall. i usually have already stopped fishing this time of year. im really pumped about going tonight, any suggestions on what to use will be greatly appreciated i tried searching for posts already but not sure if their isnt many or if i searched wrong. thanks for reading this is the pond im going to http://www.mass.gov/eea/docs/dfg/dfw/habitat/maps-ponds/dfwmarys.pdf
  16. i know that feeling! its frightening and super loud

i have one and it fills with water and gets stuck in the lilly pads a lot. i think the weight is a lil to heavy.
  18. Reading and advice from forums like this and just getting out their and throwing what i had and learned so basicly 35% reading and 65% just going out and doing it
  19. search craigs list not sure what requirments you need but i see bass trackers on their often for ok pricess. might have to do some work to them but could be worth it. good luck!
  20. depends on how cold it is outside. in the summer heck yeak im going. bring rain gear and a dry box for the phone and im good to go
  21. sry was being a dbag, i googled and have tried researching this before i asked. maybe your right maybe i dont see a difference cause the way i fish.i dont throw cranks, or swim baits, or jigs.(until i found this new place this year.) I fish slop a lot and i use my ultra light 5'. i have a blast. i have pulled a 4lb out of slop with 6lb test.(i went to her) but i switched to 20lb braid and can yank them out of their. im just saying after having both types and fished both types i dont see a difference except for min. weight of lure to throw with a BC, but i always thought i could buy a different reel for the BC to allow me to throw lighter baits like weightless worms. my BC is a tourney special from bass pro. med. Perhaps i just fish to light for it
  22. thanks! so spinning gear is superior
  23. thats a tough one. i have thought about asking some bank fisherman to join me in my canoe. but then reconsidered just like bluegiller said "too many wackos out their" so i wouldnt have a clue how you acted in a canoe/ boat that seals the deal for me. i dont want to deal with someone who falls in or tips the canoe. id rather it be someone from a bassclub i joined or a forum
  24. WOW good deal! congrats and good luck with it
  25. spinning reel VS bait caster After owning a bait caster for a couple of years now. I still dont really see whats so special about the bait caster, yeah i can flip under docks but my ultra light with 20lb braid skips worms just fine under docks, yes i need to be a few feet further away from the dock but other than that i dont see the pro's of having a bait caster. so what is the pro"s of a bait caster over a spinning reel? is it just a matter of preference?? what do all of you use rods? bait caster or spinner
