  1. Alright now, everybody go empty the lakes and ponds across the U.S. and world! The secret has been unleashed!!!
  2. Aldo, I guess what got me is the fact that I could understand if you were posting something about this to help people. But at the sentence, "I will never reveal my secret," this post becomes nothing more than a show of bravado.
  3. *** Black, I've owned both generations. The Gen 2 is better, but they're both fantastic rods. Great customer service too.
  4. Bank fishing, I keep it simple, so I'm slowly upgrading instead of buying new combos. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy three combos, any more than that and I'm severely limiting my ability to move around easily. I'd buy rods in the $150-$200 range used, you can find them for $100 or even under. There's a Powell Max rod (I believe it retails for 190 dollars) for sale in just about new condition for $80 shipped in the Flea Bay. Unbelievable deal. I'd buy reels anywhere from $140 up used or on sale. I love my Tournament MG to death, but I haven't tried anything else. Bottom line: you can buy nice stuff used without paying a ton. If you're patient and wait, you can find some fantastic deals on Flea Bay. And OP, I can't stand Tourney Special Rods. They feel so terrible in-hand and fish even worse. If I had to get another cheap rod, I'd get a Berkley Lighting or one of the Abu Garcia Vengeances. I've have both and they knock the TS out of the water. It might just be me, but I wouldn't buy one.
  5. I've heard a lot of good things about them lately. In hand they feel pretty good, they're about as light as a $100 rod can get.
  6. 'm going with inline spinners, can't beat them when the bass are keyed in on fry and baitfish.
  7. Thanks guys, I picked up a PVC pipe from Home Depot today, cut it to the length I needed, and it works perfectly. Appreciate the help.
  8. Abu Garcia rods run a little heavy, so if you pick up a M Veritas (or whatever Abu rod), it'll be a mix of a M and a MH, allowing you to possess a very versatile stick that you can use for bigger cranks as well as other stuff.
  9. Yeah, but I'll bet he used motor oil worms
  10. In case you didn't have time to read the entire post, St. Croix customer service is awesome
  11. Flea Bay is the place to go (our sale site on here). I'd also recommend checking out the Black Friday sales this year, I found a $140 reel brand new for $50 last year. Still using it and love it.

Fluke, spinnerbait, swimbait (hard or soft), lipless crankbait, popper, walking bait, dropshot with a swimbait, squarebill, medium diving crankbait, the list goes on and on!
  13. I've tried them once, and like them. I have yet to catch a bass on one, though.
  14. I use Zoom Super Flukes and Super Flukes Jr., and they are killer baits. My favorite color is Arkansas Shiner, which really imitates a bluegill. I use a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook, and have a pretty good hookup ratio. My favorite uses for a fluke: -Vegetation: 100% weedless if rigged right -Laydowns/Logs: It's great for keeping in the strike zone -Open water: When bass are keyed in on baitfish, I try to match the size It's a very versatile bait.
  15. Can't tell you the number of people who've told me if I was in the area they'd take me out and let me experience some of the great fishing around their lakes. If I was old enough (with the money) it would be a blast to do a round-the-U.S/Mexico trip and meet some BR members.
  16. I love the Riot Baits Fuzzy Beaver as a trailer, it worked really well work me last winter, especially on football jigs.
  17. I saw the actual eclipse, but the clouds rolled in and after that nothing was visible.
  18. I'm taking a trip down to Greenville SC this weekend to do some fishing with my brother and grandpa. Due to the presence of younger siblings along for the ride, I'm more than a little wary of just sticking my rods down the length (this is a minivan, by the way). How do you guys navigate this? Our van does a have a roof rack, but I'm also a little wary of strapping them down, even if they're padded. I have some old two piece rods I may just have to bring instead.
  19. How cute is this! I swear she almost broke that reel by reeling when there was no slack.
  20. The Emotion seems like a nice rod, I wouldn't mind trying one.
  21. ^^ Yup the Castaics might be what you're looking for.
  22. Rattles: muddy water, pressured water. No rattles: anything else
