  1. Good luck to you as well! I've been surf fishing before, my uncle lives in Florida and we go fishing in Ponte Vidra quite a bit, but never paid attention to what we were using, besides the fact we usually used shrimp. I'll have to ask him. Thanks for the info!

  3. Going to the Gulf Coast (Sanibel Island) next June/July. Was wondering what are good techniques to catch Snook or other fish in the surf from the beach? What is some gear/setups I should look into? I'd be interested in both fly, and conventional tackle. I'd like to spend no more than $150 on a setup. I'd also like it to be at least a 2 piece rod so I could store it with everything else we would be lugging along. The shortest rod I could get away with would be my preference as well. All opinions appreciated.
  4. One not is a great program. I use it for taking most of my notes for school. I never thought about it using it for fishing purposes m! I'm also a fan of excel, which I do use for fishing. Keeps things like rods/reels orderly.
  5. Too bad you are in Maryland or I would offer to buy your Ascend from you.
  6. Planning a trio for next year early July. We are thinking about many places, but one spot is Sanibel Island, Florida. I've done some research, and it looks like Snook are a main species here. Not sure what else is there. What are good techniques for snook fishing from the beach? Is their any recommended setup/gear I bring along? I'd like to not have to carry to much gear/lures as it will need to fit with all my other stuff. As for a rod, a 2 piece rod for traveling is preferable, and I'd like the shortest rod I can get away with. I'm open to all suggestions including fly fishing, spinning or baitcasting. I'd like to spend no more than $150 total. Recommendations for charters are also welcome. SirSnookALot I invite you chime in here Thanks, Jakob
  7. He may not be #1 right now, but I'd sure take #7 over #104 any day of the week. He's cashing checks and building points. He's got the right idea.
  8. Thats about all I need! Except it doesn't seem very accurate these days, so usually check it against another weather app.
  9. How much was it? Are you using this on a boat or some other type of vessel?
  10. Does anybody have experience with the Johnny Morris Signature Series Rod? I have an older Extreme and really like it, so I thought another BPS rod might be a good option.
  11. You could sell some to pay for the setup? Might even become a nice little hobby, eventually bringing some side income (to buy more fishing gear of course)!
  12. Same here. We've caught giant turtles, foul hooked catfish, and the whole nine at night. Kinda awesome fighting a 8+lb cat fish and thinking you might have the biggest bass of your life.
  13. Has anybody tried Havoc "The Jerk"?
  14. How's the yak working out for you? Did you test out the anchor trolley?
  15. I'd also like to add Sam, and RoLo. I apologize to any other Super-Members that share their hard earned knowledge that I forgot to mention
  16. My advice would be to continue fishing a drop shot. Maybe experiment with lure size and color. If you have a fishfinder, I would spend some time just idling around the lake, maybe 15-30 minutes, just looking for difference, find something isolated, maybe a channel, drop off, or flat. I'm not the most experienced guy here, but that's my advice. I yield the floor to Deep, AJ, WRB, and Catt.
  17. He's also on the Sportsman channel. I like watching him.
  18. How did you make the storage rack? Is it permanently mounted or can it be removed?
  19. Are you fishing from a boat?
  20. Form what I can tell I like the specs on the 7'1 MH XF rod. Not a huge fan of the handle, but I will say it is an option. Would that be a good rod for jigs/plastics?
  21. The OP says he swims his hair jigs... Would that be on the bottom?
  22. This week they are on sale for 20% off
  23. I understand this, but I'm looking for a place to start, as this will be my first ever jig/plastic dedicated setup, and I'm looking for something with decent sensitivity. I've never paid more than $50 for a rod, as I mostly buy used. The top end of my range for this rod will be $150. I'm willing to scout around for deals or a used rod if it will get me a better rod I my range.
  24. What are your guys choices for an all around Jig/Plastic rod? This would be used generally for casting, rather than pitching/flipping. I plan on using anything from 3/16-3/4 oz jigs/plastic worms. I'm looking for actions/powers/lengths recommendations, or specific rod recommendations. Thanks guys!
