  1. Ok, from what I can tell you seem like you've probably recently started seriously fishing, at least for bass anyway. I'm going to guess you're looking to get a spinning rig. Many highly recommend the Pflueger President around here. I would say that a Lew's High Speed Spin reel is a good option that would run you $60 MSRP. IMO you would be just fine with a 100 or 200 size. As for a rod, a 6'6" Medium Berkley Amp will run you $30 MSRP. I got mine on sale for $20. So total your at 90 bones, and this setup would suit you perfectly fine. I would line it with 8lb Trilene XL Monofilament line. If you are looking for a Baitcasting rig, you may have to shell out some more money. I would recommend the ProLite Special as a beginner reel. It will run you $60. I really enjoy mine a lot. As for a rod *** Blacks are $70 at Gander Mt. a 6'7" Medium would be quite versatile. Also, you could look into Berkley Lightning Rods, which are around $30.
  2. I don't know if you could get something that would be suitable for all, you would probably need more combos for that, although I don't know anything about trout or salmon fishing, so I could be wrong. I feel that not only the fish you plan to catch, but also the venues you are fishing, how you like to fish (techniques and presentations), and your budget. If you could give us some of this information, we could be better able to assist you.
  3. Depending on who your talking too, that speaks volumes.
  4. Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to stock up

I've heard in Bassmaster that pros like to fish Junebug colored plastics in Florida because they are good in tannic water. Is this true? If so, why is Junebug a good color in tannic water? Who here likes Junebug colored baits?
  6. I can't bring myself to shell out $16 for most baits either. 10 bones is about my max. Where are you finding them for $3-5. I have yet to find a good deal on them.. I have found deals on other baits lately. Picked up KVD Squarebills, Booyah Frogs, Yum Plastics, Havoc Plastics, Sugar Stix, and Yamamoto Baits at DSG lately, which is actually giving me a reason to buy things there again. BPS has had decent deals as well. And Gander MT.
  7. Ok, thanks for the advice. That makes sense that they probably aren't looking for food on the bottom. I'll be purchasing a few different colors of Senkos and see which produce best.
  8. I fish a reservoir that is dominated mostly by shad. We catch lots of fish on every shad imitator you can imagine. But we rarely catch fish on worms/craws/jigs. I've seen crawfish out there, and caught fish on craw colored cranks, but mu real question is pertaining to worms. I know lots of guys use white plastics during the spawn so they can spot when the lure has been inhaled, but I was wondering if white worms might get more bites from shad feeding fish over other colors? Or are the fish just not interested in a worm presented on or near the bottom?
  9. Favorite:Power Fishing, all types. Squarebills, Spinnerbaits, Walking Baits. Anything I can cover considerable water with, and catch good numbers and size where I fish. Least: Carolina Rig. To me its unwieldy, slow, and I have a hard time knowing what's going on beyond the weight.
  10. What do you mean when you say, "finesse swimbait"?
  11. I know most of us are probably fishing, but who's watching shark week? I personally love sharks and think they are awesome! I would love to catch and or dive with some!
  12. We had what I would think as a double spawn almost at a local lake here. It was kinda interesting to see the bass go completely through the spawn cycles again, especially in midsummer
  13. Looks like it does. Funny how fisherman are none the less. Look up luggage on crab boats.
  14. Haha, I get ya! I do spend a fair amount of time boarding on Lake Michigan, and have some friends that can do some really awesome surfing stuff up their almost year round.
  15. Was in the Carolinas. Also go to Jax every year spending time with family and usually we do some there as well.
  16. Missed that. At that point I'd try to punch I, or throw a walikg bait around it.
  17. My guess is that stuff is milfoil. If it were me, I'd tick a lipless crank off the tops of it. Good way to get reaction bites. "Where there's grass, there's Bass"
  18. I usually fish w/scent because I feel like I get more bites. Maybe its just a confidence thing, who knows.
  19. Nope. I spend about half an hour trying to scrub that stuff off! Need to keep a rag w/me while fishing.
  20. Is this emergent matted hydrilla, or submerged coontail/ milfoil? Looks like the latter to me.
  21. You will probably get lots of suggestions for Mettle. I like Lew's brand stuff, but like I said, I would buy used. Better yet, wait till they start to clear stuff off shelves sometime between winter and next spring to make room for new ones. The BPS Spring Classic sail paired w/to and reel trade in can be killer. Personally not the biggest fan of Pro Qualifiers, but one of those for around 50 bones would be a little bit better than Black Max or American Hero. You may have your heart set on getting a casting setup NOW, but even in today's society, patience is rewarding, and good things come to those who wait.
  22. That's what I thought. Is BBB owned by Spro Corp?
