Accurate Digital Scale
In my opinion the best scale you can get is the Breckneel Electro Samson. You'll pay for it though. You can get it form the Major League Fishing website where you can also get those fish grips.

Arthritis
I'd rather wake up every day feeling great knowing that my health is a direct result of my actions in this life. Everyone has their opinions about health etc but when it comes down to it there are facts and there is a whole ton of **** put out by those who would want you to believe what they're saying is truth when it is not. Unfortunately few doctors do not understand the link between diet and disease and those that do wont say anything because they dont want to loose their jobs, or want your money etc. The average doctor has 2 hours or less of studies in nutrition and those 2 credit hours they got in school were likely from a professor that works for Kraft, Dole, Dannon etc all large corporations which have only one agenda in mind and that is to make $$$. So they will say whatever they want and put out false studies about nutrition etc. A little research goes a long way. To not eat meat or dairy is not unmanly and actually it is brave and gods will. We should eat foods that build strength, endurance, stamina, will, positivity not foods that weaken our bodies. Anyways lets not hijack this thread. I was merely attempting to state the things one can do to actually heal their body from the inside out and to avoid/reverse disease including arthritis. I wish Clayton86 the best of luck.

Energy Vs Tourament Pro
I have a slew of Energy and Smoke reels. I have absolutely no reason to use anything else. They have never let me down in any situation. Pros use the energy reels. They are very good.

Co Angler Gear
6 rods sometimes seven. 4 is enough. You can always bring extra reels and not extra rods. I use a medium Patagonia Black hole duffle bag as a tackle box. it holds 6 3700 plus has room for food drinks other stuff i may want or need. probably more than what most bring but i own more than most and like to have my basis covered when money is on the line. Bring a save Phace if it's cold, good Smith optics photochromic polarized glasses, a balance beam, a ruler, i bring a little livewell treatment sometimes, rain/cold gear if you will need it, life vest such as the Spinlock Deckvest Lite. Dont forget your pliers, scissors etc and $40 for your boaters gas. I'm probably msising things. Oh yeah rod gloves and lure wraps will save you a lot of hassle because all of your rods will be buched and tangled together. No bass boat has a good system for co-angler rod storage. At least none that I've seen and this includes $70,000 rangers.

Arthritis
Arthiritis is always reversible if one is open to the solution. Eliminate Gluten Eliminate Dairy Eliminate Meat Eliminate all processed foods Drink 3 liters of water a day Add a lot of leafy greens to your diet Eat more fruit Then eat more vegetables Stop taking pills that only mask the problem. The arthritis issue like all others can only be solved by eliminating the root cause which is always diet related. You will surely then will be arthritis free.

What Is The Best $100 Rod?
Bass Pro Extreme unless you can get a more expensive rod on sale. I have some 15 year old Bass Pro Shops Extreme rods that are still good but that's probably because they haven't been used for 12 years. I liked them way back when. Or you could check out the Phenix Maxim rods. I use all Phenix M1 rods now so don't know much about the Maxim but have heard good things. You can also usually find Quantum Smoke rods for sale @ $99. Super light weight and feel good if you like micro guides.

Flw Rayovac Grand Lake

Question On Jig Weights
For me personally I always start with the lightest weight I can get away with and still maintain feel of the jig for the particular rod/reel/line setup I am using. I adjust from there based on forage, how active the fish are (faster for active, slower for non active), water clarity (faster for clear, slower for darker), season (faster for warm, slower for cold), etc etc. Use larger trailers for slower fall Use smaller trailers for faster fall Use heavier weight for faster fall Use less weight for slower fall Use bulkier skirt for slower fall Use compact skirt for faster fall Use compact jig for faster fall Use larger jig for slower fall I'm probably missing some. Mix all of that together to match your specific conditions. I like fishing light line smaller baits etc so personally I will in general start out with 3/16 or 1/4 oz almost always and adjust from there. I'll fish weightless baits and super light jigs as deep as 50' or more if thats what the conditions call for. If you are fishing grass, mats etc then you need to fish heavier weights to punch through. In super shallow water weight isn't as important and 3/8 may be a good all around size. If you need bottom contact use the lightest weight jig you can still maintain contact with. If swimming use whatever weight allows you to fish at what speed the fish want. If flipping or pitching use whatever rate of fall the fish want. The best thing to do is to get out and experiment.

Freshwater Reel With Saltwater
Well all I can say is Quantum PT freshwater reels are designed to be able to be used in salt water as well. Try it and see what happens. Take it apart and rinse thoroughly and you should be fine.

Newish
I've made a few posts here and responded to a few, mostly when bored at work. Good thing I have a new job starting soon. Bored out of my mind right now. Anyways so bored I figured I'd occupy my time with a little intro. I grew up fishing but was into Walleye fishing which then became musky fishing and then I discovered bass fishing and the rest was history. I fished almost every day as a kid/teenager. Benefit to growing up in Wisconsin where lakes, ponds, rivers etc are everywhere and boat rentals are cheap. I fished some tournaments etc as a teenager. I don't think my mother enjoyed driving me all over the state for them. In 2001 my ex step father threw all my fishing gear in the trash and broke all of my rods. He was a very troubled abusive alcoholic. I lost like 10 grand in gear. I didn't fish much after that. I was devastated and had worked three jobs along with school to get enough gear to fish tournaments. I always wanted to fish again. I just never did. To much negative **** surrounding it. I would have dreams of bass fishing, winning tournaments etc for the next 15 years before I started again. My wife and I go kayaking a lot. I was always thinking ooh that spot would hold some big bass etc. We went to India for 6 months. I guess after 15 years and 6 months away from everything was enough to make me finally take the leap again. Actually the last month in India we just rented a little place on the beach and would ride down to the internet cafe everyday and I would window shop on Tackle Warehouse. Literally every day. When we got back we went kayaking a few times again and it just set in and I had to go buy a rod and reel. I drove out to Bass Pro Shops got a rod, reel and some soft plastics. Went out on a kayak and caught my first bass in 15 years and my first spotted bass ever on topwater. Now once again fishing is all I do other than work while my wife prepares for med school. I've been fishing tournaments again and even managed a few sponsors etc. I'm excited to see where this will go but I don't care if I'm fishing from the bank or a expensive bass boat. It's just good to be out there. It's like a sort of meditation. I'm not your typical fisherman. I have always lived in a pretty urban environment, I'm in Oakland, Ca now. I haven't eaten meat and dairy for 11 years etc etc. Actually I feel great because of that and because factory farming really does damage our waterways. I'm probably the only dare I say it vegan eating, yoga practicing bass fisherman on the planet. I'm actually a certified yoga teacher and have the tendencies of a hippy, love living off the land, eating healthy food etc but unlike hippies am drug, alcohol (also a drug) free. Slowly saving money for a bass boat (within the next year, fingers crossed) and going to see where I can get fishing in tournaments. My number one priority though above fishing is my wife, and supporting her so we can buy land, build a house and start a healthy family. Back to work....

What Lures/baits For Summer Smallies In 20+ Feet Of Water
Drop shot, Football jig, Carolina rig, split shot, crankbaits, spoons, topwater... I've caught a lot of smallmouth over open deep water on topwater in the summer/fall. The list goes on. That stick bait you have would work well in 20+ feet. I have caught them in 50' on a stick bait but I add weight a lot of the time. You can always turn that stick bait into a flick shake rig to get it down deeper or just be patient. Cast it out and let it fall straight down. Use fluorescent braided line and a fluorocarbon leader and watch your line for movement. When the line moves you have a fish. Reel in and reel set the hook or if texas rigged (it shouldnt be in deep clear water) set the hook. Also use a spinning rod to make this technique work.

How Do You Fish Windy Days?
In general I will just take use whatever I would normally use but upgrade weight of lure to maintain a feel for the bait and to maintain some sort of castability. As far as boat handling well I don't own a boat so can't answer on that. At least not yet.

Salt Impregnated Plastics ?
I don't know if it makes a difference. I don't care whether a particular bait has salt or not but a salted worm and an unsalted worm in same size shape and color could make a difference because action would be different. Salt makes it sink faster. No salt and it may float. Roboworms are salt impregnated and they work great for dropshot. I don't use them for anything else. I use Uptons Customs for other worm type baits and Keitech for everything else and Keitech has salt in some of their baits. The salty core tube and stick are cool because they're heavy and have great action. The core is filled with a ton of salt but the outer layer is salt free. In general salt impregnated baits fall apart much easier and mend-it isn't always successful with them. Anyways to answer your question I think it all depends...

Do You Have A Good Luck Charm Or Any Superstitions?
Yeah I eat bananas before, during and after every fishing trip, especially tournaments. I always catch fish. Stupid myth. For real though no charms etc. No need.
