  1. I can't comment on the other two because I haven't tried them. I really like my curados though. I think you will be happy with any of them.
  2. Another one for power pro hi vis yellow.
  3. Yellow is what I have on about 2/3 of my reels. Like was mentioned it helps with like watching a lot with small line.
  4. Another for the HMG. I purchased mine on sale for nearly half the price. Its been great for everything from spybaits to ned rigs.
  5. Anybody here use the Evergreen jerkbaits? I just picked one up but havent got to use it much.
  6. I still have my first shimano (citica 200 D)thats been beat on pretty hard since 2007 and still going strong. Me being young and dumb I only have had it serviced once until last year. That's changed and i've cleaned it a few times now. Still gets used pretty much every time I go out.
  7. X2 on the Alphas. It casts great and is very comfortable in your hand.
  8. I fish from the bank the majority of the time. Luckily the lakes I usually fish don't have too much cover and are pretty steep, so I rarely lose anything.
  9. Thanks everyone for the help. I have some of the stuff you guys have mentioned. As far as blade baits, hair jigs and swimbaits what would you guys recommend? I'm debating getting my first megabass jerkbait as well as an s waver and a savage gear line thru trout. I've been using some keitechs and doing alright on those as well.
  10. I'm gonna do one last order for the year and was looking for some suggestions on cold water baits. Im looking to learn some new cold water techniques or some baits for one's I already use. I've mainly only used lipless cranks and jerkbaits. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Thats a pretty area. My girlfriend and her family are from there. We usually go up there about once a year to visit and i sneak off to go fish. I haven't had near the luck it seems you have. Those are some nice fish. Congrats on the new PB.
  12. I used braid on my cranking rod last year. I had no problems with it. I switched this year to mono just to try it. I don't mind it. I'm using Sunline super natural and it's been working great so far. I'd say try both and see what you like. It seems like people use all different types of line and do fine as long as they have the right rod and set their drag right.
  13. When I only could afford one baitcaster I bought a 6.3:1 and used it for everything. I think its a perfect reel to do multiple things. I just found it hard for me to slow down sometimes so I bought a 5:1 later for crankbaits.
  14. There is hyrum reservoir and Mantua up close to here. Also there is Pineview that has smallmouth. I haven't tried a whole lot of places in Utah besides Flaming gorge and Lake powell to be honest. I usually go to Idaho cause there is a lot less people. Feel free to message me if you want and maybe I can help find some places around there or answer any questions you have.
  15. Thanks everybody. Also I hooked into a good one on a keitech swing impact fat. I just can't seem to keep them on. I'm using a Gamakatsu ewg hook. I'm fishing em slowly on the bottom with no weight but can't seem to keep them buttoned. I was using a 6.3:1 tatula with a m/f carbonlite and 40 lb braid. Any ideas? Need a heavier rod? Any input would be appreciated.
  16. I really like mine. It feels very smooth. I got mine from japan lure shop and got it in 5 days. As was already mentioned I wish the handle was a little longer. What handles have you guys found to fit them?
  17. Congrats on the first fish. Its much better than my first bass.. I'm actually up by logan. I caught this in idaho.
  18. Went out for a few hours yesterday. It's been tough fishing lately (for me at least). Walked around the lake and started throwing a spinner bait and lip less crankbait with nothing. Tried some plastics for a while. Still nothing. I tied on a DT6 in Bluegill pattern and second cast I hooked up. It felt pretty small but ran straight for a mass of weeds. I couldn't move it at all. I waited it out and it finally came out. I got it to the shore and landed it. It was hooked by one hook on the back treble. Pretty awesome. Anyway it's not huge but beat my previous pb by half and inch and seemed much fatter.
  19. I used some 16 lb leader with 50 lb braid yesterday but it wasn't around a lot of cover just really thick submerged weeds. Worked great.
  20. I haven't used any of the rods mentioned but I picked up a Fenwick HMG on sale. I like it so far. That's another option around that price.
  21. I use a mono backing with 10 lb braid and the leader switches between mono and fluorocarbon
  22. No problem. The reason i knew is because i had the same thing happen about a month ago.
  23. I had this happen. Sit in a chair and put the rod behind your calves with your legs together. Grab each side and spread your legs apart and it should pop free. If that doesn't work, it must be really stuck.
  24. Thanks everyone for the help.I usually use a medium heavy and curado i for senkos but wanted something that will cast super flukes and trick worms with more ease. I guess I will just go ahead and put it on one of my mediums.
  25. I just ordered an Alphas SV as the title states and i was wondering what rods you guys are pairing them with. Are you using medium rods or are you going medium light? This is my first reel with the SV spool and I have two medium/fast action rods but no medium lights. Are these still too stiff to cast light baits with or have they been working for you? I'm mainly looking to use this for weightless flukes, worms and senkos. Any help would be apprecitated.
