  1. I think the lightning rods are a great option in that price range. I accidently caught a 36" pike on the spinning model I have a couple weeks ago.
  2. I say it's a toss up between Seether in Salt lake city and Alter bridge in Spokane for me. Both were great. My girlfriend surprised me with vip tickets to the Alter Bridge concert. It was a great show and they were great guys to meet.
  3. I have only tried their spinning rod. Picked one up brand new for 60 bucks here. I've been really impressed so far but havent had a chance to hook into anything big with it yet.
  4. I just picked up some sunline super natural. I haven't tried it yet. I really like suffix but decided to try this out.
  5. A senko, shakey head and now the ned rig seem to work well for me when things aren't going well. Those seem to be a good starting point when the fishing is real tough and will get bites from all sizes of fish. Something I have been working on is learning how the weather and season can alter the fish. It's been a real slow process for me as I have taught myself to fish. There are lots of good videos on youtube from bassresource and many other people that have been helpful as well as the articles here. Also lots of great info here on the forum. As a lot of people say though, nothing beats time on the water.
  6. Roboworm on a shakey head
  7. I fished the ned rig for the first time this weekend and I agree it definitely has a different feel to it than throwing a shakey head. I see why people talk about it as a "feel nothing" way of fishing.
  8. I think the Berkley lightning rods are a great value. I used their spinning rods and for the price I'm impressed.
  9. I like the rage bug myself.
  10. 4 of mine in the top 12 as of last night. Hopefully it stays that way. Mark Davis hurt me. Combs, montgomery, horton, and hite
  11. I have both as well and feel it's a matter of preference. They are both great.
  12. I Use casting gear if I'm using a 3/8 or greater head. Under that I use spinning gear. Both with braid and a leader
  13. I really like the zoom tubes myself. Then I would say strike king is a close second.
  14. Glad I'm not the only one. I just picked up some dt6s to try. Any other shallow crank models you guys would suggest? I picked up some arashis, river 2 sea biggies and some kvd 1.5s but haven had much luck with square bills. I'm gonna try em on the rip rap around the dams here this year and hopefully my luck will change.
  15. Do any of you guys throw crankbaits from the shore? I haven't seen anyone mention them much. That produced pretty well for me last year. Mainly shad raps, lipless cranks as well as a few live target baits.
  16. My girlfriend and I fished together all last year. It was her first complete season. She used senkos, as well as lots of other plastics, roboworms on a shaky head and some rattle traps. She really likes fishing soft plastics, but once we got on a good lipless bite I gave her a quick lesson and on her first day using them she schooled me. I try and find a moving bait that will get bit and if it's new to her I will teach her and let her try it. I think one thing helped her as well is I put yellow power pro on her rod. That definitely helped her feel the bites a lot better as well as helped her learn how to line watch.
  17. I was pricing out a curado I and found this place tonight. I haven't heard of them but they have Curados for $140 with free shipping. They sell on amazon as well it seems. Thought someone might I'm this useful if they arent a fan of ebay like me. Here is the link http://www.swansonsbait.com/shimano-curado-200-201-casting-reel/
  18. Tatula is another great option. Just used mine for the first time a few days ago. May pick up a few more.
  19. I feel that fishing with someone can be beneficial. I think it can help you figure out what the fish want faster. My girlfriend and I go all the time together. She loves throwing soft plastics and while she is doing that I will try other things like crankbaits and spinner baits. Usually we will figure it out pretty quick, switch to that and both start catching fish.
  20. http://extendedcast.majorleaguefishing.com/mlf/ That's the link and there is a link on there to let you watch a free episode to see if you like it.
  21. I bought a digital aquarium thermometer and it's worked pretty good so far.
  22. I signed up for Major league fishing extended cast. It has tons of footage. I've been watching it while everything is frozen over here and I really like it. They have a couple free episodes you can watch if you want to check It out first.
  23. I guess I got a little too optimistic. They would do pretty well here though. Most the stores around here have very little bass stuff. I won't hold my breath.
  24. I have that model. It worked great for me all last season.
  25. That was the plan today. Just curious if anyone knew. Thanks
