  1. Tackle warehouse, then bass pros for online orders. I'll almost only shop in store at BPS, then walmart for little stuff when I have to or to browse their clearance. Tons of rods on clearance at mine now
  2. 12lb hybrid line or mono. I like mono for when I'm banging tree limbs with cranks. But the hybrid for open/deep cranking for getting it down as deep as possible.
  3. Less line twist, in some cases more control of your lures, I feel I have more power pulling in fish with mine, quicker for power fishing/covering area faster, flipping and pitching jigs will change your fishing life lol. With your heavy lure power fishing fishing style you could throw lures faster with a bait caster. As for a rod it depends on what your aiming for tackle wise. If your cranking, chatterbaits, heavy action baits that require a "pause" in hookset you need a medium or medium heavy moderate action rod. 5 to 1 gear ratio will be your best for those lure as well. I know I've fished with 6 to 1s just with a slow retrieve
  4. I think I found a gem. Sea nymph 14' 56"beam 650lb weight limit, 150hp motor capacity, he wants $400. It's almost gutted 2 seats that'll need replaced and a plywood deck for the front mount trolling motor. I can build it however I want.
  5. Well I can fish raystown so I figure best of both worlds I can put up to a 170 motor on the back of this boat but I probably wouldn't but at the same time I can still take and use it on the other lakes. I'm waiting for a guy to get back to me about a boat he reached out to me about. It's a sea nymph 14' with a 150hp limit 650lb weight limit and it's basically gutted at the moment so I can redo it bc he only wants $400
  6. Sad part is my dad said that he might just give me the boat if he took the motor off it. But he thinks his rig is worth more then it is. I think I'm still going to get it without the motor and save up and put a smaller one on it. It is really nice for its age and for most of its life it was garage kept. But the last 10ish years it been under cover. I'm thinking plumbing and electrical are going to be my biggest issues I'm gonna offer him 700-800 and most of my lakes I'm going to fish with and my tournament series is a trolling motor only format so without the motor I can load up with batteries and put a motor on later.
  7. Little different of a tug you were excepting I bet lol. Good catch sir
  8. I've never had problems with them and I've never heard anyone switching them out either. The style of they're snap doesn't have a high stress point it's strong in design. So as long as your not setting the hook on a cinder block buried in the mudd and your swinging for the fences I think you'll be good with any fish lol
  9. Thnx I'll have to look when I go with a price to him. It's got a 150 magnum 2 2stroke mariner on the back. He says it's low hours bc most of the time he was trolling for stripers. He was thinking that he could get 2-3k for the motor but NADA says it's 700-800 running tip top. Trailer is $300 boat is 1500-1700. Now this boat needs some work not much but I think he's not going to like what I'm going to offer
  10. It was as pair he bought in "79" he said so I'm thinking he meant 89. He's a little older and had a jack and coke in his hand while we were talking.
  11. ^^^. That's rough. I'm truly sorry about that. It snowed here last night, got about an inch or so. It's upsetting bc yesterday the yard was bear.
  12. Plot twist. I took a picture of the trailers mgf plate I think boat is a 88
  13. I had just over 41 degrees here in SW Pa but the nights have been getting below freezing. Good news though we have a forecasted 72degrees on Thursday can't wait to go out. As far as this I wish the water temp was 50. Catching them bass would be loads easier then low low 40's
  14. Yeah I found NADA right after doing the thread. It said roughly $250 for the trailer and average retail was between $1700-$2000 but that was with the motor. I figure without it, it should be much less. I'm thinking $700-600 without the motor do you think I'm out of bounds with that offer? He was thinking the trailer was worth more then 500. But I'm glad I found nada I've seen a bunch of people on my arena just selling trailers for Jon boats for $500
  15. Just went and looked at an older "Winner" 1978 I think fiberglass boat with a 150hp mariner on the back. It's the original owner with trailer and everything. Has an old mag 40 front mount on it. Long outdated electronics. Plumbing needs work but floor, carpet, paint, and hull look good. Seats are beat up and torn a little bit but the boats 30 years old so it's pretty good looking for all the places it's been. My question is without the motor at all what is it worth?? I want to buy it without the motor but I think he's going to ask to much. Looked up trailer prices and they're cheaper then what I thought they would be. I've found that 79 21' trailer is about $220-270. But found mixed results on the boat. Let me know what you guys think it'll be my first fiberglass bass boat and it is nice.
  16. Heck of a bag. That's something to be proud of man. Keep it up
  17. I know guys that will flip and pitch them, slow roll them, they're a very versatile bait
  18. No that's my series classic this tournament was literally 3 hours before his tournament. Completely separate tournaments
  19. Sounds like your floro is getting nicked up. Fish with 14lb or try a hybrid line like yo zuri they have the same properties of floro but are more abrasive resistant like mono. Good luck with your monster!!
  20. Brown bass!! Congratz sir. Lol my water temp as of Monday was 41 degrees but I marked the fish high up in the water column which was odd I thought anyways. I was in 20-25ft of water and I'm guessing they were at 8-10ft range couldn't get anything to take a bite but man did it feel good to have the boat out and get the lines wet. But we got snow yesterday and today is supposed to be 60ish lol waiting till the water temp gets closer to the 45-50 mark.
  21. Had the boat out today marked a bunch of fish and the water temp was a little colder then I thought it would be. Just over 41 degrees. No catches but it was the first time on my little sportsmans club lake with my lowrance and I found a lot of structure on the deeper side. All in all it felt great
  22. Welcome to the forums I live in Bedford, Bedford County
  23. Only thing I don't like about my Bomber cranks, I switch out the stock trebles for gama's or if I'm out I use eagle claw razor sharps. But they're all black nickel plated no reds.
  24. For 30 acres that's really really deep unless it's right at a dam?? But my favorite deep application is vertical drop shot right under the transducer
  25. UPDATE: ice was off enough yesterday at my local sportmans clubs little lake. So I went and got my lines wet, didn't catch anything, but man it felt great!!
