  1. when i fish in my canoe I drop 2 twenty pound anchors - one on the bow and one on the stern. use a moving bait and cast low and try casting with the wind so you won't get a bow in your line.
  2. Combat shirts, BDU shirts, ACU shirts. anything milsurp is the way to go imo.
  3. this ought to do the trick.
  4. braided line for one. if you texas rig worms, be sure to bury the hook tip back into the bait to keep snags at a minimum. grass jigs work really well since they have a weed guard and small bass don't bit them when they have big trailers.
  5. haha its fine. we call sunfish kivers and smallies. what do you think about using blue gill as bait on drop shot rig?
  6. there are no limits on the amount of rods that I can use.
  7. I don't have small mouth bass in my lake. I'm talking about sunfish like blue gill and such.
  8. School me on live bait. I haven't used it since I was a kid. Since my BC has taken over as my go to lure rod, my spinning setup is now for weightless plastics and I'm thinking some live bait and other alternative baits. It would be nice to use a drop shot setup and put it over the side of the canoe and just wait while I fish lures with the baitcaster. My one problem is smallies love live bait and chew it to hell. how do I get the bait away from them exactly? In fact, i've thought of just catching a small blue gill, putting a big circle hook through um and drop shotting him over the side in deep water.
  9. Chain Pickerel, Yellow Perch, Large Mouth.
  10. I don't know too much about savage bolt guns but I can take my mosin bolt completely apart and put it back together in less than a minute and still have time to adjust the firing pin. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. Good job on fixing it though.
  11. I just purchased my first baitcaster. 6'9 MH Abu Garcia Black Max and put 12lb spider wire mono on there. It was on sale at Dick's for $69.99. My mom gave me a $50 gift card, and theres a $20 rebate on it so I basically got the rod and reel for free. So now I will be working with the black max and my medium ugly stick spinning setup. If anyone has experience with this combo or has any tips or links for me I'd really appreciate it. I've never used a baitcaser and this thing looks complicated and easy to screw up.
  12. I am interested in doing a camping and fishing trip this year. I am looking for a place where I can set up camp close the the water and not an actual camp ground. I live in central Massachusetts.
  13. Watch your step. What ended my fishing season last year was a drunken misstep. In the last week of august I was bank fishing off of a place my friends and I call Pride Rock. Its a rock that juts out over the water and theres around a 4-5 drop with jagged rocks and tree roots on the bottom. I remember having an awesome day, having caught 6 largemouths, and I had downed about a pint of Evan Williams finest discount sippin whiskey in short time. I remember standing near the edge and fixing something the end of my rod when I stepped back too far and fell into the water. I scrambled back up the rock face and back onto the bank. I looked down and noticed there was a golf ball sized hole in my leg along with a glob of fat dripping out. I shoved a liquor bag in the hole and tied down with fishing line and limped about a half mile or so out of the woods. I was lucky to run into my friend's brother who called him to take me to the hospital. Got me 14 stitches and missed out on September bass fishing. I was lucky I didn't go through the muscle and couldn't walk for about a month.
  14. Ya'll southern boys is babes. got 4 foot of white outside been sittin there for months. You know what they call the bad part of Memphis? Memphis!
  15. You need an AR-15 and a 10 gallon hat like us simple Yanks
  16. Lets hear your favorite bass recipes. I usually cook mine fire side out in the woods so I just bring olive oil, salt, pepper, some butter, and once in a while ill bring green peppers and/or onions but usually I don't because people smell it and then come to my fire expecting a hot meal. I never eat more than a few bass per month and they have to be in the 15-20 inch range (too big and they taste nasty) for me to take them so i don't want to hear any catch and release whiners. I am a predator above all things.
  17. More importantly, watch your step. What ended my fishing season last year was a drunken misstep. In the last week of august I was bank fishing off of a place my friends and I call Pride Rock. Its a rock that juts out over the water and theres around a 4-5 drop with jagged rocks and tree roots on the bottom. 18. I fish central mass like crazy. My tackle box so far for this year is as follows: 150 5 inch stick baits 75 2/0 Hooks 2 Grass jigs 1 top water frog 1 Bluegill Square bill crank bait 2 Shad poppers 1 swim shad rattler 2 bottles of JJ's magic dippin dye in chartreuse and clear 1 bag of Strike King Rage Craws because I haven't tried them out yet. I can't stress enough the need for the weightless worm and grass jigs.
  19. i didn't know you were allowed to have semi autos in the UK.
  20. thanks i've seen this before. I know that theres a 40 foot channel leading up to the pump house on the north eastern side of the lake. 47 feet at its deepest point mean depth of 26 feet. sunfish, bass, pickerel all stay in the shallows, trout stay at around 13 feet, and the brown bullhead cats are down on the bottom.
  21. I practically live at the Res. Always great to here from other people who fished there. Everyone always tells me theres nothing in there but I pull up great fish all the time. The biggest fish I ever caught was last august at the Res right at the boat landing where I was wade fishing. Pulled up at ~24 inch chain pickerel. Gonna get my canoe out there this year.
  22. Massachusetts is still a winter wonderland. If I died, they'd have to wait til the thaw to bury me.
  23. Ha! I'm in Ashland which means i'm only 3 towns over from you.
  24. I'll be honest. I thought this was a post about celebrating John Gotti's birthday xD. I'm new here but happy birthday man!
