  1. I have a Compre in m/xf that i am using for bottom contact and bigger spinnerbaits chatter baits.
  2. I posted this after seeing DVT say something about seeing lots of grease in new shimano reels.
  3. Is it recomended to do anything to new reels?
  4. Interesting about the break in, I just got an I yesterday and I must say I am very impressed with it so far. Look forward to figuring out if is worth the extra $$ over my Lexa since I would like to try out a low gear ratio real for my next purchase.
  5. That will give me two quality casting rods with good reals and a solid multi use spinning set up. Now on to tackle.....
  6. After playing around with the rod a little bit in my lure testing area (pool) I think the rod is really only good for the one thing it was designed for; lipless, shallow, and medium depth crankbaits. Since I am going to do most of my fishing from the bank and it seems like wrangling around 3 rods is about the max for me to still have fun instead of it feeling like work a rod this specialized wont work for me. I am going to head into BPS and see what I can figure out. I am leaning towards the Duckett although I am going to look really hard at the mojo bass rods as well. I like the micro guides this rod has and I dont think the Mojo's or Bucoo's have that. As far as the real goes I am going to switch up to the 30 series.
  7. By the way rod is a casting rod and I got a Shimanno Currodo I for it.
  8. First the reel, I got a pflueger President 6925 thinking of using it for weightless wacky rigs and shakey head. Now that I see the real I think it is probably too small. What size reel do you guys use for that kind of set up? For the rod I got a Duckett Ghost medium parabolic to use for crank baits and basically most of my moving baits but it is way too paraboic for spinnerbaits and jerk baits. Wondering now what strength and power I should look at? Also I am kind of on the about the Duckett vs the Bucoo or Mojo Bass or Veritas 2.0 or Compre. Oh and I did this at bps on their six pay deal so I guess I need to stay with them since I did a pretty large order this is part of.
  9. Once you get used to bait aster and how much more distance control combined with how silently you can make your lure enter the water even on long cast you will see what he is talking about.
  10. It is your IP address plus cookies plus other stuff.
  11. There is your answer this guy knows jigs.
  12. Yes that's ecactly what we used It for. Very light line with a jig n pig. I tried a modern day spinner bait on it and it was like catching a fish. In the mean time I just bought a rod yhT o is moderTe with an extra fast tip and it is way to stuff for the smallish kinds of moving baits used in most ponds.
  13. Is this too stiff for a general purpose moving bait rod? For now I I have an ancient Fenwick HMG 5'6" 4 Power rod holding up this duty and it really is too flexible.
  14. Depends on the situation. Back in the day I had no problems fising 1/8 oz jigs with uncle josh's # 101 pork trailer on as light as 4lb test trilene xl. I would probably never go above 8lb test on spinning. Anything from 10 lb up casting. But I like lighter lines. I have20lb braid on a casting rod now and really like it a ton.
  15. Ok I take your word for it, like I said I didn't remember. I do know I watche a video where they talked about some other benefits the Albright knot had as well. Just like the thread measuring stretch results that is so informative real world conditions are hard to duplicate and I think the more info and especially information that's quantifiable is great. Still for most need the palomar seems like the knot for certain kinds of hooks the snell and for line to line double uni or Albright. I think I saw a video on here where Arron Martin said he uses the Uni for most things.
  16. Got to fish for a few minutes today and the P Line Floroclear is much much more cast able than the BPS KVD 100% florocarbon. Sensativity was very comparable.
  17. So BPS doesn't have Yo Zuri line. Or at least the one by me doesn't so I got some P Line Floroclear to try. I also got some cc and cxx figured I would see which of the three I like best.
  18. Is it an outsourced factory or it Brownings factory? I guess I got the impression BPS purchased Browning for the facilities. Just a guess though.
  19. Watch knot wars it test many knots and there is really compelling evidence that the only knots you need are the snell, Palomar, and double uni. I can't remember about the Albright but it seemed like it did not do that well.
  20. Yeah I got that especially after reading it where you posted it on another thread.
  21. Well you should use the recommended octane level for the vehicle as to the brand I have always been told to switch up as often as possible due to slightly different detergants and other properties brand to bring. In general gasoline is gasoline is gasoline the differences being the additives. At least that is the way a TMC USA engineer explained it to me one day. As far as lines go it might be the same I don't know, but I am trying to learn.
  22. The quality of advice on this site is amazingly good and sincere.
  23. Just checked and Tackle Warehouse and they have the small spools for 5.99.
  24. Thanks. Actually just got the rod in, my first modern rod, and it is extra fast tip so I am going. to go braid and get another rod for cranks etc. and put the p-line on that. I guess I will need to use mono leaders for top water.
  25. Anyone have any exposure to this? Trying to decide between copolymer and braid for my pond fishing rod. Med Fast Shimmano Carrus
