  1. Any chance you have a med heavy reg graphite Tatula to compare the glass rod to? I have a couple of these I use for moving single hook and jigs but think they are too fast for most cranking applications. I love my Tatula rods in general and want to get a couple of the glass cranking rods if they are more parabolic than their graphite cousins.
  2. Prior to BPS showing an interest in Cabelas there was never a problem with inventory at the one I go to. The fund that purchased enough stock to force the sale was actually mad about overstocking too lenient employee policies compensation and some other stuff. Once BPS took a look at the books officially what a year ago Cabelas started I implementation of the strategies where inventory was not reordered sales started to focus almost exclusively on house brand items. BPS runs a tight supply Chain I pray it will all work out. John Crews was just on BassTalkLive and went out of his way to sing BPS praises. I am about to find out how things are since I received 2 Casitas as gifts and plan on exchanging both for something else. I expect them to not do their old no questions asked return policy which will mean buying from them is only a negative. Pay tax no discount no warranty support. to be fair I will post the outcome of my visit Saturday. Great explanation
  3. I to am a bank guy and I might leave the house with 6-7 rods I narrow it down once I get to my destination. Sometimes I might only carry one rod. I have a TW rod bag that can carry all the rods I need like golf clubs so it's not as cumbersome as it might sound.
  4. I just got one and while the Dobyns Fury is the best rod for the money at its retail price point my Tatula was $90 out the door. It's my first Tatula but it's about to have. Friends. Personally I prefer a slower action rod and the 705CB I think it is Fury crank bait rod is one of my favorite rods period. But where sensitivity is important Tats are the way to go. hope I helped
  5. They are the same reels aren't they? I always thought Lewis and BPS used the same oem factory. That hook keeper they shared is patented to the same company in SK I think. Been a while since I looked it up. I like the MB I had for six months then it started showing signs of wear.

I can't rember the last time BPS had a sale on rods and reels not store brand. Every so often there might be a rod or reel in the flier, that's about it. I had a reel that wife had purchased from there, lost the receipt and she hadn't given the phone number. I forget the problem with the reel bearings I think. They wouldn't return it. I found the receipt they still wouldn't return it as it was now past 90 days. I had just purchased a large order on their six pay plan. That stuff all went back and I have not stepped in the place since. Now they own Cabelas which I loved to deal with. Their customer service was so good I didn't mind paying a few bucks more. I broke a rod tip and took it into cabelas the CSR swapped it out for a new one no questions asked. I expected to have to send it off for warranty but they just handled it.
  7. Yes give them a call. I spent about 45 minutes on the phone Gary Dobyns last week talking about the Colt and Fury line. I have several of the Furys which are closer to the champions in power/Acton/taper. The Sierra rod has slower actions than the other rods and the other rods seem a touch slower than say the Abu Veracity or ***. For me I like extra tip and have zero trouble with hook sets. I realize these are more bare bones rods but it seems the characteristics carry through the line.
  8. I have a few Skyline and HMG rods, even an old Shimano cold forged handle rod. After seein this thread I took the HMG and put a reel on it with some FC line. Tied on a jig and took it along with a Dobyns Fury rod to my pool. The comparison was jarring, the HMG i recall as being ultra sensitive felt dead compared to the fury. Bumping the bottom after pulling the jig down a step was almost undetectable never mind pebble tech bottom. The Dobyns Fury felt everything. Graphene and other materials especially resins will continue to improve our rods but who can say for certain how much. thanks for mentioning those rods, brought back memories of the hard work my Dad mad me do to earn the $ to buy them. I guess that's why I still have them.
  9. The only time I have heard of this in a reliableish setting was Hackney and Van Dam talking about doing it under very limited circumstances that had two similarities. Grass/vegitation/colored water and limited time the bait was in front of the bass. Hackney seems to not be a believer in line spooking bass but I have seen him talk about coloring his line when faded at his win on Texoma. Watching him on the final day of his texohma win i remember him doing it. Also on a win up north in clear water flipping into grass he talked about how he thinks in a reaction strike like he won with where the lure passes infront of the fish first the line you have on is almost irrelevant. He made the statement that if 60 ft of line would go past the fish then the bait it might be an issue. KVD during or maybe in one of those instructional shows after MLF talked about coloring in braid on a swim jig. Can't remember whether he said due to fading or not. That was a southern lake with dingy tannic water and trees maybe some grass.
  10. Fun4me is correct the fuego is a great option and the only compition the Tatula CT has is the curado I 200 for 175 and under.
  11. The last kings are suspiciously similar to Lewis and okuma and that place we can't name. I can't place it but I have seen the dual control they use exactly in some brand. So made at same plant as one of the more mainstream brands but only doubled instead of 4 times the landed cost is what it seems to me.
  12. I am envious. Good luck and be safe looks like she was really taken care of.
  13. Daiwa Fuego hands down super fast retrieve and buttery smooth too. Not to heavy either.
  14. I have an inferno spinning rod, I like my Dobyns and onethree rods better. The Fury line of dobyns are tough to beat.
  15. Thank you very much. I am going to return it.
  16. I did that already it's time to return it.
  17. As the title says my Diawa Fuego 2500 spinning reel has started making a noise like something is rubbing when I am reeling it. Also the clicking sound when drag is being pulled seems to be very quiet or non existent. I had a problem with some line getting wrapped under the base of the spool and now these two problems have started up.
  18. Thanks I guess it's off to the store 1oz is largest I have.
  19. That works with braid? Braid is what's a pain in the rear.
  20. I have a little pond that I fish and am using it to teach myself how to flip/pitch/punch. There are hyacinth matts that I have gone from easy to find holes to pitch into to being tight together and very lush. Do you guys attempt to punch through this stuff or only hit the holes around the edges?
  21. That's what I am using, not very efficient though.
  22. Teaching myself how to flip and I have ran into an unexpected problem. Is there an easy way to clean snell knots off a hook once you are ready to re-tie or switch out baits?
  23. According to knot test .com or something like that whether Palomar is srongest then uni unless using a straight shank hook then it is a snell. It seems some have had trouble with a Palomar so I use a double line uni for FC, Palomar also doubled up (4 lines through the eye) with braid, and snell when flipping with straight shank hooks. There are videos with Arron Martens and Dean Rojas tying the uni and Palomar knots doubled. The San Diego jam knot did not do that well on machine test Amart now uses a double uni.
