  1. Here are some pics. Should be putting the boat in early April – say Hey if you see me out. Yep, there be fishys there
  2. I've used navionics on an iPad when returning off shore boats and bays and it really works great for charting but till now never knew about using the combo as a FF. Post up your impressions when installed. What kind to boat?

This will be my 3rd year on Nock. So far the fishing has been a challenge. Caught some nice ones but more often than not we return to the dock empty handed. Been on boats for many years so the 20 HP limit is very annoying and means that this boat is pretty much limited to there which is why we have a slip in the marina. Not too expensive at all and allows us to just go out for a few hours whenever we want without any hassle. Not sure about what sort of rentals are there but I do see signs for them - I think its mostly canoes and kayaks. Thanks for the info on Penn Warner, honestly never heard of it.

    Thanks guys!
  6. I live less than a mile from Nockamixon and keep a boat there in the summer. In the process of upgrading my electronics because like said its not the easiest lake to fish.
  7. For Nockamixon do you guys recommend Side scan over Down scan? I'm looking to upgrade my FF and this is the one question that has me stumped.
  8. I live about a mile from Nockamixon and keep a boat there for the summer. I don't mind the 20 HP limit for THIS lake but don't like having only a 20 HP motor because it does limit where else we can use it.

Hi Guys. Have a Crestliner 1650 Fish Hawk on Lake Nockamixon here in PA (a bit north of Philly). The lake has a 20 HP limit so this boat stays there 24/7. We also do lots of salt water but not in the Crestliner. Mostly hang out at the Hull but they are really better at off shore advice so hoping this place will be more informative.
  10. 17’ Alum boat on a man-made Lake Nockamixon here in PA. Boat came with a cheapo Lowrance X4 Fishfinder which I’m looking to upgrade. Narrowing it down between the Humminbird Helix 5 and the Garmin 53DV, I think! The lake is not that deep – maybe 70’ max but lots of it is shallower. Main goal is FF since it’s a hard lake to fish. I know the lake enough not to need a GPS even though the two I selected have it, which is no biggie. Both fit the $ 500 budget but willing to spend more if it’s worth it. The boat lives at the lake and won’t be used elsewhere because of the HP limit. Thoughts between the two? Or any other I should be considering? I’m also wondering if SI (side scan) would be better than DI (down scan). And once decided, where is the best place to buy? Most places seem to have them for $ 499 Thanks!
