  • Just pulled the boat but have to agree the fishing has been pretty good. Next year we should all plan a Nox Day!

  • I'm in! I'm hoping all forecast are wrong, and I can fish well into December or January(like we had a few years back). I like having the lake to myself.

I got out again on Sunday for a bit in the morning.  Caught 4 LMB.  4lbs, 4.6lbs, 2.5lbs and a dink.  2 smaller ones came on a squarebill.  The 2 bigger ones took frogs.  I'm addicted to frogs since m

I fish both a little. I live about 20 minutes from Nock. Do you have a boat?

My best friend lives about 30 minutes from there.  Over the spring and summer we fished it some.  Huge lake and there is some good fishing to be had there.

There are quality fish of all species in there. That place usually fishes deep.

I fish Beltzville a couple times a month.

Nock is tough. The game warden said it's because they're so "well fed" by the supply of forage. I'd venture it's because I haven't too many hours logged on the lake. But, there's always this year.

I don't waste my time on nock because I have a real motor on my boat.

Beltsville is a nice all around lake to fish

Which lake you visit?

I love nockamixon. I get a cabin there. The bass fishing is up and down. Good days and bad.very pressured lake. Fishing from shore like me is a hassle. So much hydrilla and lilies. That limits what you can throw. Jigs, texas rigs, carolina rigs and spinnersbaits. Maybe a frog or two. On that lake the bass change everyday. What you catch them on one day you wont the next.

But if you are on a boat, that opens up opportunities. Getting away from the weeds. Crankbaits will work. Football heads. If you got electronics, search for old roadbeds and concrete chunks.

I live about 1 mile from the Nock & have a seasonal campsite a couple minutes from Beltsville.

Haven’t fished either yet. Haven’t fished anything in 35-40 yrs since I had my ronco pocket fisherman.

At the end of last year I bought a new Crestliner Storm.

Anyone going to the Outdoor show @ Oaks PA this weekend. I need some help spending $$$ on all the gear I’ll need & probably some I don’t really need! I've spent the winter watching everything I can on youtube & WFN to come up to speed.

Okay great!

Just look for the guy with gray hair wearing a flannel shirt & driving a pickup.

Oh wait that’s most of the people there!

Just PMed you.

I was working the Livingston Lures booth today (Saturday). If I happened to talk to any of you guys I apologize for not knowing you were going to be there! I was the one wearing the white hat and probably way to talkative haha

I have been fishing Beltzville for years. It is very hit or miss. If you go there on a bright sunny, weekend day it is nearly impossible to do well. The boat traffic will be insane and the water is usually very clear. Between a lot of boats and fish going deep it is not very easy. There are definitely some serious lunkers in there, though. My friend caught a largemouth close to 7 lbs there 2 years ago, and we have caught numerous 5 pounders. I also caught a 4 lb 13 oz smallmouth there 4 years ago.

Thanks for the input.

Without revealing your sweet spots is there any general areas more productive than others.

I plan to launch from Preachers Camp. I understand east & north of the ramp is supposed to be no wake zone.

Do boater generally respect that? Is it enforced?

Do you know how far up Wild Creek Cove & Pohopoco Cove you can get with a 16’ bass boat?

Can’t really find much of anything about water depths.

Thanks!

You can find a detailed contour map on the Navionics web app on their website.  A 16' bass boat will run all the way up the creeks without problem if the water levels are normal.  I was all the way in the back of both creeks last year with an 18' glass boat.  Most people respect the no wake zones except some jet skiers and pleasure boaters.  I usually avoid the place like the plague on sunny weekends in the summer. I have never seen rangers enforce it on weekdays(usually not a problem and nothing to enforce) but I'm fairly certain they enforce it on busy summer weekends.

A lot of people complain about Beltzville because it is often hit or miss.  When times are tough I move between several key spots that offer different depts and structure, and one of them will usually produce.

I live less than a mile from Nockamixon and keep a boat there in the summer. In the process of upgrading my electronics because like said its not the easiest lake to fish.

Defiantly a lake that i want to hit hard this year with the kayak.   I need to do more studying on the lake, but hopefully ill do OK this spring.  If anyone ever wants to meet up to fish that has a kayak as well that would be great!

Here are some pics. Should be putting the boat in early April – say Hey if you see me out.

Nice boat nice lake. I fish it often definitely say hello if I see you out good luck this year, hopefully the ice goes away soon.

That looks a bit bigger than a 20hp....

Ha! Wouldn't be the first person to "rebadge" their motor at The Nock. When it was restricted to 10 hp, people ran "up carbed" motors, when it was 15 hp people replaced stickers or cowlings.

We'll see you there David, we usually keep a pontoon on the lake. Last year it was being "refitted" so we didn't get out much.
