Suggestions for home soft plastic storage?
I keep mine in the plastic shoe containers and other sized plastic containers. I then keep the baits in their original bags. That way I can grab out the bags I need and add them to the boat. I also like keeping them in their original bags as I can remember exactly what size, color, and style.

Slimy YUM baits
Thanks guys. I am going to try giving some a rinse and paper towel drying them. I am going to just set some in another box and see if they dry a little. These are the only baits I find this oily and I have a bunch of Yum baits. Not sure I will buy more of these. Like the design and price of some of their baits, but I have found Many others I like and over purchased lately with that Midway USA sale.

Slimy YUM baits
I know a lot of you like to fish YUM baits as do I. I just can’t get over how slimy and oily they are. It is often hard to hold onto to rig them. I assume it is because they are made with a petroleum base. Has anyone figured out a way to make them less slimy or an easy way to rig them? I use many other baits, more than I use YUM, and haven’t noticed any as slimy as these.

Swivel on WP
Had the same question after last week. With all the boat traffic on the lakes now, the weeds are chopped up into tiny floating pieces. Those tiny pieces get caught on the hook or the blade and away it goes spinning in on the cast. I am not fishing in weeds! Just picking up little sporadic pieces. I have to try a swivel. Glad some of you have done this with success. Do you use a snap swivel attached to the lure or tie a swivel inline and then tie direct to the WP? I really would love to have the direct snap swivel work. It will also allow me to change colors and sizes much easier. I never use these on anything so it will be new to me.

The latest sale thread
My experience with Midway USA has been awesome! I had to return 2 items and my communication has been awesome. Free return shipping was seamless. Printed it off at home and sent it with the UPS man when he stopped to deliver other stuff. With the deals I received, I will be doing more business with them for sure. I have been very impressed with this company. Thanks again for the heads up. I have another $75 in my cart right now. Deals are still there.

Midsummer update
Night fishing for bass is something I have never done. I may have to head out and give this a try. That is if the bugs don’t carry me away!

Weigh bags
Awesome guys. Thanks for the info. I am going to order a Gator Grip tonight. Appreciate the help. Now I just hope I can fill it up!

The benefit of crowded waters...
I agree. You have to find the good in situations. I do like that people are outside and able to do something. I have seen a ton of families spending time on the water together and kids learning to fish instead of electronics (fishfinders excluded of course). Definitely awesome to find some good in it! Thanks for the reminder. I hope to think of some positives next time I’m on the water. Good Fishin to ya!

The benefit of crowded waters...
I would give away a full 3700 to get some people off the lakes. Haven’t found a positive yet. Glad kids are getting out and away from indoors. I have brought more kids out this year than ever. No regrets there, but geeeez. The crowds are pounding on the lakes.

Okuma Psycho
Wow! I agree. Those could be a player.

Reel flex
I wonder if the material breaks down after extended use or exposure to the elements? I use mine quite a bit and I have not noticed it being crazy flexible..............yet. I am also in the market for another spinning reel or 2. I won’t be using these a lot. They will be mostly dedicated to smallmouth fishing on Mille Lacs and other smallmouth lakes. I only fish there 5 or 6 times per season. Even though I will only use these reels sparingly, I am going to upgrade to At least the Procyon, and maybe Tatula or Ballistic if I stay with Daiwa. I like a more rigid reel and better drag when fighting smallies. I may venture into another brand as well to compare. Probably Shimano or Lews. Open to suggestions though.

Weigh bags
I was also using the Berkley bag. It has lasted 2 years now and was cheap. The Hot Cold bag is an interesting twist for sure. There is probably a good bag out there not marketed for fishing that is cheap and works well. I agree Hower08, I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a bag with no guarantees. I will check out the Gator grip. Thanks

Weigh bags
So at the last tournament weigh in, my bag was ticking like a frightened Poodle. I had like 3 leaks in it. Time for a new one. However, upon reading reviews, it seems that most bags get rated poorly. What bags have you had success with going to the weigh in? Thanks

Reel flex
“Demons” is right. Maybe that explains the red eyes

Reel flex
I assumed he was talking about the Fuego LT which is carbon framed I believe. I have always heard about spinning reels flexing when made of a resin, carbon, special aerospace, genetic, mutated material, but I have not experienced it. I have the Fuego LT and use it quite a bit. Caught bass over 5 pounds and couldn’t feel the flex, but it could have and I didn’t know it. If you felt it flexing that much recently, and you have used it for two years previously, there must be a problem with it. Daiwa would not be in business if they made reels that did this on purpose.

Quantum Reels
I purchased a Quantum KVD glass crankbait rod 5-6 years ago before I knew much about them. I had seen them on a great sale at Cabelas for like $39.99 and bought a casting and spinning rod. Fast forward and i (incorrectly according to theory) use the glass crankbait casting rod for bladed jigs and exceed the weight rating by quite a bit. It is a big, heavy, under-powered rod, but I LOVE it for bladed jigs. Rarely lose a fish i hooked because it is so forgiving. I do also have a Dobyns glass for heavier bladed jigs, but have fished 1/2 once plus trailer with no problems yet. I use the spinning rod on smallmouth waters. It is a 7'4" crankbait spinning rod. I use it for casting small swimbaits a long distance in that clear water. I had no idea what I would use it for, but it works awesome for that. A few years later i was reading one of the many internet articles and forums and came across some Quantum company information about how they started over with a lot of research and development to make the Smoke S3 line of reels. I decided to order up an S3 in the 8 gear ratio to use for flippin and pitchin. I have also used it for casting as the spool is designed to be great for that. I like the reel, but really don't have enough experience to really judge it well or define the perfect use for it. I used it flippin this weekend and it worked well. I know it will bomb a Whopper Plopper a good long ways. Overall I think it is a really good reel and would compete finen with the other name brand reels. I am predominately a Daiwa and Lews guy. Only because I started with a Lew's and moved to Daiwa with all the positive reviews on this site. I would like to see Quantum get in the mix. Competition only spurs improvement and competition. We all benefit from that!

Giving props to our southern anglers!
That would be awesome!! The cooler water has to keep YOU a little cooler on the water as well. Natures air conditioner. I know when I head to northern Minnesota to fish, the lakes are cooler and it helps to keep me cooler as well. Love it! I have a good friend in Tenn. I need to get down there sometime to try to at least have a chance at a giant.

Giving props to our southern anglers!
Wow, that’s nice. “Up North” here in Minnesota, the lake I was fishing on Sunday was 88 degree water temps. This is getting crazy for up here and we have 15 more days of this trash in the forecast. I might have to visit Knoxville to get cooler water ?

The latest sale thread
I was not looking for a new rod per se, but had always heard good things about Irod, so at over 50% Off, I thought I would give it a try. $120 was hard to pass up. I just checked Midway again, still a bunch of great deals on there. I need to stay away. I could easily add $50 more and get free shipping..................that’s how the last bait monkey spanking started at this site.

Plopped/choppo twisting line
Thanks Frydog. Interesting. I grew up in Waconia, but don’t get back up that way often. I may have to stop when I am passing through next time. I might have to try the chatter bait idea too. The pike down here are INSANE this year. I would assume these would help with preventing having the line foul on the hooks on ploppers as well. Tom, that is what I was hoping would work. I am going to give it a try until I can find some of Frydog’s idea. Thanks.

Sounds very familiar. I did the rod air spinning rod and loaded the cart then backed some some stuff out. Still took me for $308. Great deals though. Wow! Great find Chris, Thanks!!

Plopped/choppo twisting line
I know. It is frustrating, because there is really not much grass at all, but the little pieces of floating grass catch a hook or the tail and It is twist city. These darn pieces are like 2-3 inches that float in from miles away. I may try a snap swivel. I think my tourney partner mentioned he had heard about that somewhere. I do use other baits in weedy areas and had to switch over today, but the ploppers were working so well when they worked. Looks like I have some experimenting to do before I give up and switch over.

Plopped/choppo twisting line
I have been catching a lot of fish on the whopper plopped and Choppo lately. The problem I am having is small pieces Of floating grass on the lures are making them spin and twist my line. I have used braid, mono, and copolymer. Have you guys used swivels? Does something else work to prevent this. I am obviously not fishing this in weeds. I use frogs and buzzbaits where appropriate. Let me know if you have solved this problem. Thanks!!

Wow. Bad time to need to restock on baits.
Hey gimruis, where is that new Scheels going up? I grew up on Lake Waconia which has to be close to you in the west metro. Just wondering where that Scheels is going to be. Thanks.
