Memphis Area "Gas Lakes"???
I can give you another lake that's about as far as beech but not nearly as crowded. Carroll County 1000 acre lake. it located just outside of Huntingdon and about hour and 45 min from Memphis. It has some nice bass, I've seen an 11 pounder come out of it.

Don't forget about Beech Lake in Lexington, TN. Less than 2 hours from Memphis. No wake restrictions and has some good fish.

Glenn Springs Lake
Thanks for the advice guys. I fished there yesterday and ended up with 9 total. All of them really small. Caught most of them in the coves with a Zara Spook and A KVD squarebill. Fished several points with no takers but this was right before the front blew in and the wind was blowing about 20 mph. Couldn't fish them a thorough as I wanted. Surface temp was 63 degrees, was hoping to catch a few nice ones shallow but wasn't the case.

Glenn Springs Lake
I was wondering if anyone has fished Glenn Springs Lake much in the late fall and winter? A lot of the grass has died off so it fishes much different this time of year. Any advice would be much appreciated!

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
I've fished that pond twice earlier this year and didn't get a bite either time. However, didn't really fish it very hard or very long. If you have any luck there let me know! good luck

Fished Civic Center and Neshoba this morning. Between the 2 only picked up 1 small one. Seems like the ponds have been tough lately. Anybody having any luck?

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
Hey guys, I know I haven't posted anything in a while but haven't really been fishing many ponds lately. I do have a question that I wanted to bring up about bass in general. I have been off this week so I got the change to fish Carroll County Lake and Lake Graham in Jackson. I decided to keep some fish and have a little fish fry for the family. I was surprise to find out of the roughly 20 or so fish I cleaned, several of them were full of eggs. This was true of fish from both lakes. How common is this? Do some bass spawn in the fall? I have read that this happens occasionally? Was wondering if anyone knows more about this? Just curious.

Fished Glenn Springs this morning and had a pretty good day. 15 total, biggest was 3.4 and a couple of 2lbers. I have fished this lake a lot more this summer and really like it. I have caught a lot of 3 and 4 lb fish out of there this year. I just cant seem to snag a big'un!! With that said, my fishing days will slow down a lot because this teacher has to go back to work It has been a good summer and I got to do what I love the most "FISH"!! LOL, Will have to do most of my fishing on the weekends now.

I just read an article online (TWRA website) that said that Herb Parsons was the newest TWRA lake chosen to be stocked with Florida Strain Largemouth. That's great news for us Memphis guys. I'm not sure how well they have managed the bass population there so this is encouraging. It will take a while but that could be a great lake in the future!!

I fished the pond behind Houston High School for the first time this weekend. I ended up catching a few small ones. Just curious if anybody has ever caught a nice one over there? Also, fished Appling last week and saw a guy catch a pretty nice one. He asked me what I thought it weighed so we weighed it on my scale. It was an even 4lbs. What urked me was the guy then put it on the stringer. He said he was going to put it back after he was done. Believe it or not the guy actually put it back about an hour an a half later. The problem though was He stressed the fish so much that it belly roled and flopped for a long time before I lost sight of it. I hope she made it, I just don't understand if he wasn't planning on keeping it why didn't he just take a pic and throw it back?? weird.

Speaking of Road Warrior, I got the privilege to meet Kent today out at Grove. He is a really good guy! I agree, he has done a lot to help people on this site and I want to thank him for all he has done. Looking forward RW to going fishing with you at Graham in the near future. Jason

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
I have a question about a pond and wanted to get some opinions from the forum. There is a pond at W.C Johnson Park that is far off the road, its actually behind the two smaller ones that are located to the left just as you come into the park. I looked at it for the first time today and it looks good. Its pretty good size and a little grown up but walkable. Has anyone here ever fished it? I have never seen anyone talk about it on here.I'm going to try it out soon, just wanted to know if anybody knew anything about it. Thanks

In my opinion, I wouldn't spend to much time at Herb Parson's. I feel like they have poorly managed this lake for many years. It is also full of Yellow Bass. I'm not saying you cant catch bass, but there are much better places to go. Glenn Springs, Lake Graham, Gibson County Lake. These are all good lakes and you can catch quality fish from all of them.

Fished Johnson Rd Park this morning. Between the 2 lakes I ended up with 10 overall, all small. Caught all of them on topwater. Small fish but fun morning.
