  1. I love the color of spawning Bowfins, and people say their ugly, psht.
  2. This species is also known as mudfish, Grinnel, and most commonly Dogfish. I personally love fishing for them, just leave some live bait in a channel or mucky bottom and you'll have a pretty good chance of catching one. and NO they are not an invasive species nor bad to the envirement/lakes in the US like the Snakehead, so if you think you have caught a Snakehead and are about to kill it, look to see if it has 1 or 2 anal fins, if 1 long anal fin, its a Snakehead, if 2 its a Bowfin. now back to the topic, Who else fishes for this fun aggressive and challenging fish?
  3. That's my favorite combo! i like me a live target frog though.
  4. The rapala mini digital scale works great for me, i have weighed over about 300 bass with it and it still works great, sometimes about 1 to 4 ounces off, never more than that though. but if you did have the money, boga grip is the BEST.
  5. Now that is false, depending on the frog of course. i have used live frog as bait, just let them swim away from the boat, and the bass cant resist those things. Massive blowups.
  6. I don't know why bass wouldn't like tadpoles, they sure do scarf down frogs!
  7. I only wish i could join a fishing club, the closest one i could find to me was like 35 miles away
  8. Was teaching some neighbor kids how to fish the other day, and one of the kids caught his first Bass, it was 11" long! he was so happy jumping up and down. it made me remember my first bass, it was only 7" inches, Good times though. So how big was your first bass? anyone catch a keeper size bass as there first? let me know in the comments
  9. I actually didn't even really look up until i already wrote everything. it happens, is pretty funny though
  10. So if you were not to go to college but were winning consecutive tournaments, or placing 2nd/3rd, you still wouldn't be able to get sponsors?. or does the college degree just help a little bit in getting you sponsors?
  11. I have heard that you do need to, and i have also heard that you don't need to. So do you really need to go to college to become a professional fisherman? or is it just recommended.
  12. Was casually fishing off a dock at my friends house, in what i thought was mainly just a bluegill and small bass lake when i go get something to drink and come back, a good 10 pound Bowfin was sitting at the bottom, i was going crazy at first since the biggest Bowfin i had ever caught was only 6 pounds. so i calmed down, got a bluegill, cut it up, and put a piece on my hook. we fished for that for for about half an hour, and had him on the hook about six times, the only reason we couldn't catch him was because we were using bluegill hooks! He is now known as "Ghost" and shall be caught one of these days.
  13. How did you catch such a pig in Michigan this early!? my lake is still way too cold for pigs lake that to be biting. i fished all day yesterday and only got a few 10 to 12 inchers!
