  1. TP-1 is a fairly new rod back by a 1 year warranty where as a HMG has been around forever back by a lifetime warranty. That says a lot for a $5 difference IMO!
  2. I use 2'-3' leader of FC & I never let it go through any of my guides! I've tried way longer leaders in the past down to the reels but I felt like I was reducing the distance of my casts (lighter lures) & beating up the double uni knot. Like rippin said it's personal preference!
  3. I just bought 735 C Fury MH/F 1/4"-1 1/2" last week from our local dealer for flipping & pitching. Very impress all around with this purchase! The sales rep told me that they couldn't even keep the Furies in stock since they launch them last year & that everyone has reordered more rods since their 1st purchase! He also mention that the regional sales rep for Dobyns said there's a possibility that they might drop their Savvy line in the future because the Fury blew them out of the water at that selling point! I like it the purchase so much I pre-ordered the 705CB & 703C! Dobyns gets my vote
  4. Have both rods in 7' MH/F. Like them both! The handle is different on the rage for sure but if you really enjoy fishing with cork & eva handles on your rods than the rage probably wouldn't be the ticket but it's all personnel preference brantley!
  5. Stay with the Medium Red. You'll be happier that you did! IMO a little more versatility! If you buy the new models of the Mojo Bass they just upgraded the blank to a SCIII so their a little bit lighter (15%) than the order generations of Mojos SCII. Either way their both good rods!
  6. I'll have to agree with both comments! I've been wanting to pull the trigger on a Champion for quite sometime at a local dealer but I'm use to St.Croix rods that are pretty much tip heavy rods. Champions are extremely "soft tip" rods which is a positive for sensitivity that I'm not use too like St.Croix"s but the backbone is definitely there in both rods for sure! I agree 703C would be the better fit for your application! If I were you I would definitely try to get your hands on a Champion before you buy one because IMO their totally 2 different beast! Both great rods for sure but I've only fish with the Avids & only handle the Champions in store! I ended up with the cheaper "Fury" because it was more tip heavy like St.Croix rods I usually fish with Personnel Preference trupp30!
  7. I agree with tander! Sunline FC sniper 8# or 10# "personnel preference" Experimenting is the best option!
  8. Most M/F rods are rated 1/8" to 1/2"-5/8" (weight) depending on the rod company some go up to 3/4". Obviously, if you wanted to throw large spinnerbaits, deep-diver cranks, or flipping-pitching you probably would want M/H moderate to fast with a little more backbone along with a little heavier line! If your not going over 5/8" no need to go up on power or line specially in open waters!
  9. I own 5 Pfluegers 3 spins & 2 baitcasters. Great reels for the money hands down! I had an issue with one of my spinning Supreme's. I sent it back to Pflueger for evaluation & repair (warranty)! Instead of fixing my last years "30" model, they sent me this years new model no questions ask just a brand new reel in the box Not only great reels but awesome customer service that backs up their product as well!
  10. I have to agree with WIGuide! You need to examine the break on your braid 1st & 2nd you probably need to up grade the leader to a better FC but honestly, it sounds like you need a better knot to connect the 2 lines most of all! There are many threads on here to help you tie a better knot. Practice makes perfect. Good Luck!
  11. Pull out the old & bring in the new! Reorganize everything twice for more products The down fall about the winter months....I spend way to much money cause I'm not fishing Read & Watch more articles on bass fishing than I ever had but in all honesty, you actually gain good knowledge on threads, articles, & videos over those horrible months!
  12. Sunline Super FC Sniper! I like it better than most because of the smaller line diameter than most FC on the market. Not by much but some is better than none! I'm sure Tatsu is a very good FC but I can't picture spending double the price point if I'm very pleased with the product that I have no issues with. Personal preference!
  13. Just wanted to let everyone know it was legit! $147.99 out the door. Double check my credit card & it was for the exact amount! "STEAL"
  14. When I seen that price 2 days ago on TW, I thought it was an error! I order the 2500 with in minutes! Mines in transit & will be here on Monday for $147. I hope they honor the price or there's going to be some issues but what a steal if it is
  15. Dirty Jigs Green Pumpkin Scott Canterbury Shakey Head with Strike King 3X Elaztech Finesse Worm Watermelon Red Flake! Money in the bank
  16. Zman Original & Customs with Zman DieZel Minnowz (ElaZtech) & Strike King Rage Tail Craws. It's my personnel preference but I have had very good success with these combos! Plus I'm only 2hr northwest of Ft.Wayne-Ohio/Michigan line, so we fish similar waters! Works great on the inland lakes to match the forage (Bluegill & Crappie & Shad). I'll slow roll it with 5.4:1 baitcaster most of the times but burn it during the summer! Hope that helps
  17. Yes you can! I store mine in 3700 Plano with 2 colors per compartment (Z-man swim baits). No issues at all with temp either but did have a Berkley Grass Pig jump over in 1 of the compartments! It shrunk from 4" to 2" & infused right into 2 of the swim baits! Keep them totally separate from your regular plastics!
  18. Daiwa Ballistic 2500....pleasantly surprised after a few trips!
  19. I'll have to agree with most of these comments in this thread....SS8 is definitely smoother & quieter but it has a tendance to fray a little quicker than regular PP...You figured it would be the other way around because SS8 has a coating over the braid !
  20. Lews Tournament MG - 5:4 to 1....perfect for cranking ....$139....Very pleased with mine!
  21. I use L&L on 10# & 12# Sniper & never had any chalky residue that I've notice but has definitely help tamed the line on my baitcasters!
  22. I have 2 of the 4 you listed....7'3" M/F *** (last years) & 7' M/F HMG. I like both rods a lot but I use them for different applications! To help you out on comparison of these 2 rods....*** definitely has a softer tip & a little more sensitivity but not by much on the other hand the HMG a little stiffer with a better backbone plus life limited warranty rather than a 5 year warranty! I'm sure that all those rods you listed would work just fine but IMO the HMG would be the better rod for river fishing! Good Luck & Tight Lines
  23. I know where you're coming from Boca! I agree with having a great set-up for just your plastics but don't limit yourself to just one technique as well. Which most of the guys that commented have suggested to you. Every body of water offers different obstacles to catch bass which sometimes call for different techniques at different times of the year. I'm just suggesting that you experiment a little bit more with some different cranks, jigs, spinnerbaits, & jerkbaits through out the year at your different fishing holes! Give them more than a few chances even though you haven't had much luck in the past. They'll produce just as well from the bank as they do from a boat! It's all about the confidence in what you're throwing! You can always go back to the plastics which seems to be your strong suite Tight Lines!
  24. Double Uni....Great knot! Haven't had any issues with it in many years! Practice makes perfect
