  1. Also search youtube for garmin livescope. A good side scan will work well while traveling, but it is harder to see fish because it shows returns to scale. So a 12" fish might look like a little dot, depending on settings. With livescope you will see things as small as a lure. But be prepared to get sticker shock. The cheapest set up (fishfinder & livescope) will be about 2500. It goes up from there.
  2. I will use my new musky set up for stripers. An abu garcia revo toro beast 50hs on a abu Garcia fantasista beast 7'9" MH-F action rod. Also will work for heavy cover bass (pads and grass).
  3. Go to boca website and do a "model search". Then klick on one the kits that has the most pieces. Then click on "kit components". That will show the sizes you need and the application for them. Once you know that you can decide what type of bearings (full ceramic, hybrids, or stainless). You can find videos on you tube to show you what to do. Also, if your reel bearings are not damaged, and of good quality, a good cleaning and very light oiling will get you close to what ceramics will do.
  4. The thought is, don't rip the treble hooks out of the fishes mouth. So you can use mono, witch will stretch, or a flimsy rod and stiffer line. Or some combination of the two.
  5. I read somewhere once that 1 AC amp = 10 DC amps. That's probably how chargers can get 45 amps from a 120 volt 15 amp service. It would only pull 4.5 amps. But there may be an efficiency loss that would bump that up a little. I could be wrong, just something I read somewhere.
  6. It can be tricky to figure out what voltage your battery should be at any given time. I just checked mine that have been charged for a week (onboard chargers). My cranking battery on a cabela's charger is reading 17 volts. The charger may be in a mode that boosts voltage temporarily. My two trolling motor batteries (on a minn kota charger) is reading 25.3 volts ( divided by two would be 12.65 volts each). This charger is in a maintain mode. Looking at charts on the internet, 12.7 at rest, shows 100% charge. Hope this helps.
  7. Look at Cabelas for "portable transducer bracket".
  8. I have the 2003 Tahiti Deck boat and mine only has 2 wires (plus the jumper) for the trolling motor that run up the left side of the boat. The policy when I bought mine was, only the trolling motor ran off those batteries. Everything else ran off the starting battery. Maybe they (or someone) added an on board battery charger. You will need to trace all the wires to know for sure what is happening. Lowe put round plastic access covers in the floor and in the sidewalls under the seats. When you go back, take a cordless screw driver and Phillips bit and find where those wires go. You mentioned series before, so I think you know how to wire it to get 24v up front and 12v somewhere else (if that is the case). I think this will turn into an easy fix for you. Hope this helps.
