  1. Drop shot - Roboworm FX Sculpin: Natural Shad
  2. X3. OH WAIT...I've caught some grass. <---------(sarcasm in case it's not implied).
  3. Well put Sir. Thank you for correcting my ignorance, although my previous comment was sarcasm. Too bad there isn't a way to express that with just words.
  4. So in closing....if putting out a fish's eye with a hook is no big deal....than why so many articles and videos on "how to properly hold a fish"? Just say'n.... Best regards!!
  5. No offense taken friend. It's not about feelings what so ever. I grew up hunting and fishing ( both considered sports) with my grandpa and we always harvested what we shot or hooked and I still do if I can. I would never consider releasing an animal while hunting that I clipped/winged in the hopes that animal wouldn't suffer or be able to survive. These days in California I'm lucky if I catch anything let alone enough for a meal. So if I catch one or two I'll release. I happen to like eating bass...BTW.
  6. Thanks fellas, I appreciate all you had to say on the matter. If you ever catch another one eyed fish it won't be one that OTR366 released. Gotta go....fish tacos sound really good and I haven't had lunch yet. Best regards and God bless.
  7. Last time I used a multi treble hook crankbait I was the one bleeding before I even got the stupid thing in the water. Upper set of hooks got hung on the webbing of my pack a during removal the lower set of hooks went thru my thumb.....LOL. Not fun at all is RIGHT!
  8. Well said...Thank you!! Like I said, after watching the show where the eye injury occurred I got to thinking how I would handle the same situation. I'd probably have fish for dinner so he or she would not get bullied is schools for being different....LOL. I've yet to put a hook through the eye of a fish so ethical conundrum has been avoided to date.
  9. I take great pride in my ethics, integrity and morals!! Simply curious is the reason I posed the question.
  10. I was watching a show recently in which the host was reviewing the Rapala Shadow Rap (three treble hooks). They where catching small mouth and on one fish landing the center treble hooks where clearly hooked deep in the eye of the fish. The host was talking and IMO not paying attention to a careful removal of the lure. No question from my point of view the fish's eye had to have been permanently injured. In a case like that I'm not sure its ethical to release a fish with an injury like that. If I ever get around to using a Shadow Rap I would likely remove the belly hooks. Please tell me your thoughts.
  11. I'm a Shimono fan and like the 7.2 Cumara Worm/jig MF spinning rod. IMHO a MH rod has too much backbone and will bend light wire hooks on aggressive hooksets and I prefer light wire hooks when rigging a worm Senko or otherwise. So many choices and I hope you find the right rod for you.
  12. I suggest reading the Hank Parker article on this site; www.bassresource.com/hank-parker-fishing/line-technique.html I'm a bank fisherman who needs as much versatility as possible and I only carry one spinning rig and one casting rig. For my Shimno spinning rig I have 20# power pro braid which casts so nice and doesn't get those memory loops like mono does. Then depending on the technique I fish I will add via swival a 6# to 10# length of mono leader. The leader can be 15" to 4ft long depending on the cast I need to make. BTW, 20# braid is the equivalent dia to 6# mono and your Shimono reel has a mono and power pro spool capacity spec. Overall all lines have goods and bad based on my research and the suggested article helped me determine what I was going to use on my setup. Best of luck.
  13. X2 Rage Craw and additionally Rage DB Craw.
  14. Rage craw or Rage DB craw.
  15. LMAO....I was going to suggest rigging that Senko on the tip of a crossbow arrow. I think that's known as Louisiana rigging a Senko.
  16. Those special interest groups would rather spend 98.5B on a bullet train from LA to SF then build or repair reservoirs and do something about the water main infrastructure in LA. No politics I know, but the river my grandfather taught me to fish on is running @ 230cfs when it should be 800-900cfs and the lake I fish will be a puddle by the end of this summer. Makes me sad that I likley won't be able to teach my grand kids the joys of fishing in California .
  17. Thanks WRB!! I'll be in the neighborhood of Fishing Fools this afternoon and will stop in. Perhaps one day we'll bump into one another at Casitas or Castaic. -Scott
  18. Thanks WRB for all the info. Are you talking about the Basstrix or Lunker city product in "lightning shad" color?
  19. Thanks via. All my gear is in a backpack and my rods strap conveniently to the sides. So I don't mind hiking to get there.
  20. Dang WRB...I was just at Fishing Fools an hour ago getting a map. I'm going to study both Pyramid and Castaic (since they are on the same map). How is Castaic as far as visibility and structure? I have a spinning rig I use for finesse and casting rig for SB, jigs and crank. I carry a wide variety of soft plastics from Senko, craws, Flukes and so on. I have methodically worked the shores of Casitas with everything in my box over the last months from Deep Cat to the old boat ramp cove. The water is so low and muddy with visibility 6" or less and I'd say is down to 35 percent. Very little structure at least from the allowed shore fishing to speak of as well. I have spent my whole life passing Castaic traveling up the 5 but sadly have never even seen the lake. I'm game however...will you recommend a starting point? Scott
  21. Can anyone give me any advice about bank fishing Lake Pyramid California? Perhaps off the beaten path since I'm not afraid of a hike and top three must have lures/plastics. I'm picking up a lake map this afternoon to review the structure. I've been shutout at Lake Casitas since late April and Pyramid is the same distance from home. Thanks.

Glenn has a video here on BR that I found well done and very informative. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/ned-rig.html
  23. Hootie, I too have rigged Senko's every possible way, except a bunch of them on an A-rig, and nothing. I find they aren't very durable as well so I'm going to move them out of my fishing tackle box and into my bow fishing tackle box. Perhaps I can catch more with Senko's rigged to the bolt on my crossbow.
  24. Is it a stand alone app that doesn't require additional Lowrance gear? Some thing I could use to research my local lakes structure?
