LEAST favorite brand
i don't really like storm either, but i have caught a few nice bass and walleye on their swimbaits.. i'd have to go with YUM and bandit. i've never liked the action of bandits and i've never caught anything on YUM stuff. a lot of it is to fancy looking

flippin'/pitchin' line?
i've read that's it's good flippin' around bushes, wood, docks, etc. like i said, the one thing i'm afraid of with braid is that the fish will see it in the clear lakes...

flippin'/pitchin' line?
so i've just started really getting into pitchin' and flippin'. i've been using 17lb super braid. i've heard and read that floro is the only way to go. is this true? the only thing that worries me about braid is that the fish will see it (most of the lakes around here are clear). if the lakes i fish were all stained i really wouldn't care. so what does everyone think, should i get some floro? thanks

jigs???....dont laugh
color choice..... clear water: brown, brown/pumpkin,brown/watermelon, etc. stained water: black, black/blue, black/purple, etc. be sure you put a good trailer on your jig like a craw or pork chunk. i like KGM shot craws. and i agree about sticking with it. i had to fish it for about 5 hours before i got a fish, then i caught 3 more in about an hour

Which Line??
what kind of jigging? if you are pitching jigs i'd go with 14lb McCoy mean green, if you are casting jigs in open water i'd use 6lb McCoy. on the baitcaster i'd use 10lb McCoy maybe 12lb.

They're finally up shallow!
spawning isn't coming any time soon around here either. this lake is freaky shallow so it warms up very fast. but most of the lakes won't see spawners till may :'(.

Top 5 picks
the only thing i've caught a fish on this year has been a 3/8oz black/purple jig with a KGM craw

They're finally up shallow!
got my first bass of the year on friday. i had to travel 3 hours to a lake that had water temps in the 50's to get them though . i fished silver lake friday and sturday, and if you live in WA you know about this lake. on friday the weather was perfect! sunny and almost 70*.....but no fish. i wake up saturday to choppy water and overcast skys. i head over to a point that is covered with trees that have fallen in the water. i through my jig next to a tree in about 4' of water and all of a sudden my line is coming straight at me! i set the hook and about 5 seconds later i have a nice 4lb 5oz largie in the boat 8-). after fishing the timber with no more hits, i decided it's time to head towards the canals. i start pitching the overwhelming amount of bushes and after about an hour hook into a nice 3lb 10oz bucket. then not 15 minutes later i hook into a tubby 3lber. and again about 15 minutes later my got his first fish of the year, a scrappy 15"er. it was a great way to start the year! oh, all fish were caught on 3/8oz black/purple skinny bear jigs w/KGM craws.

Deep Water Smallies
i've caught many smallies in the 20'-35' range without a ploblem. it will start to get interesting at about 50'.
-
L.J. Hot Lips Lure
those things work really good for smallies. hope you got perch or crawfish color......
-
Deep Water Smallies
i would suggest a 3/8oz-1/2oz drop shot rig. 3" senko or sniper snub will work wonders for ya. i agree that catching fish out of 50' of water can be dangerous for the fish.....
-
crappie lures
use tubes in 1/640z-1/16oz. yellow/white, red/white, red/yellow, pink/black, and white work good. canyon plastics
