  1. Looking for anyone other then *** that is selling theese rods. Can't find them anywhere else. And if anyone has used one yet let me know how you liked them. Always liked the older orginal falcon rods I have. Now looking hard at the new experts. Thanks everyone and take care.
  2. I own both the wacky rig and the drop-shot mojo rods. I use the wacky rig for mostly shakey-heads and weightless flukes and i use the drop shot for drop shots and small split shot rigs. If I had to pick just one i would go with the wacky rig just because it could probally do a little more than the drop shot. But either way you won't be disapointed. Awsome rods and for the price they can't be beat. I know it sucks that they only have a 5 year warranty but I can look past that.
  3. Was wondering if anyone makes or can just paint customized reel grips? I own about 9 pairs of them. most in desert camo. which are cool. but nothing would be sweeter then some west virginia mountaineers reel grips. Or at lest just wvu gold and blue. if anyone knows a place i could get them done like that let me know.
  4. I carry 5 when i'm tournament fishing or just fishing on a regular day. I can usally pick 5 baits, one that fits each rod and out of those 5 baits one will catch a fish and if not then it's more than likey going to be a long day no matter what I throw at them. I do have about a dozen or so pre-tied carolina rigs ready to rig up and a few extra drop shots tied up. but that is about all that takes more than a few seconds to re-tie.
  5. I throw shakey heads probally more than any other lure. I've had several rods and a few reels but I have finally settled on my shimano sustain 100fe and my st. croix mojo wacky rig 6'8 M spinning rod. can't say enough about that rod and for 90 bucks i give it a 9.5 out of 10. only thing could make it better is the warranty on it.
  6. Shimano Symetre 500FJ (awsome ultralight reel worth the 100 bucks) St. Croix 6' Triumph L Spinning Rod 4lb P-Line Evoultion Catch alot of trout, crappie, bream, walleye but I love to go wade the Little Tennessee River and fish minows and hook into a few 3 and 4 pound smallies.
  7. I have both the drop-shot and the wacky style spinning rods in the mojo series. both are awsome rods. i perfer the wacky style for shakey heads and most finess baits. never have used diawa rods so i can't speak for them.
  8. I use a 6'8" H action Kistler Magnesium rod and i have it paried with a shimano curado 100d spooled with 15 lb. p-line flouro and a 10 pound flouro leader.
  9. One of my fall back techniques is to throw a 4" zoom meathead (watermelon) on a small split shot rig. Sometimes that will out fish my standard shakey-head and drop shot cold water techniques. Hope you lay them out.
  10. I have both and would pick the sustain over the stradic fi. The sustain is a little smoother. but both are awsome reels in my book.
  11. 1. 3/16oz Spot Remover jig head/Zoom finesse worm (green pumpkin) 2. Lucky Craft sammy 100 (ghost minow) 3. XCalibur Xr50 rattle bait (pearl melon) 4. 3/8oz War Eagle spinnerbait (mouse or spot remover) 5. Luck "E" Strike bass magic swimbait (black diamond)
  12. yeah it sucked but it could have been worse. i try to take the good out of everything and at least now it shouldn't happen again. plus the fact someone towed us in and we ended up getting to weigh in was luck. not many people pleasure fishing in winter. but yeah this time of year you can catch some fish. plus alot of times they stack up and if you find a few you can really lay them out in one place. all those fish came off the same side of a walkway going out to the marina.
  13. fished a bass tournament on saturady ( jan. 3rd ). me and my partner fished on hiwassee lake. won a tournament in the same trail 2 months earlier on the lake so we were feeling good about the day. warm morning for this time of year it was about 42 degrees at take off and we ran 3.8 miles towards the dam. fished the dam but no fish then made a run to a marina that sits in about 60 to 80 feet of water. the water temp was around 46 so the fish were deep. pulled in the marina watched for bait then decided to pull around and fish the shallowest part of it. caught 2 keepers and 3 non-keepers in about 35 feet on a shakey head worm. decided to run back to another dock that we catch alot of fish on and then without warning the starter solenoid went out. couldn't get it to jump off and ended up leaving the fish and towed in. the rules won't let you tow in another boat until after the tournament we didn't want to get disqualified so we had a older man tow us in and we fisehd the one little cove for 4 hours until weigh-in with no bites at all. only about 25 feet deep there and no cover at all left in the water with the draw down. finished 15th out of 28 boats with 4.62 pounds. bad day for money but it kept us in the top 4 in the standings. hope to just have another starter put on the boat by the end of the month. hope to never experience that again and hope no one else had to go threw it either. good luck to everyone else.
  14. I throw all my jerkbaits on baitcasting tackle. i have three spinning combos and they are for shakeyheads, drop shots and weightless flukes. everything else is on a baitcaster.
  15. awsome spots. i just set my personal best at 4.87 two weeks ago in a tournament. i had snaged a carp earlier that day on a shad rap and when i set the hook i ownestly thought it was another carp the way it didn't come up. but it ended up being a huge spot. it's all we get to fish for anymore around here. it's crazy how in the last 5 years how many and how big the spots have got here in western north carolina and north georgia. almost every tournament is won on a good sack of spots. sometimes i real kicker largemouth will show up but 9 times out of 10 it will be 5 real good 3-4 pound spots that win it. hope i can find a few sunday on chatuge.
