  1. I've been throwing spinnerbaits on my old All Star Mag 2 worm rod for years. Haven't even thought about using anything else.
  2. I started using a spinning rig a few years ago for skipping a 4" senko in flooded salt cedar. A lot of fun with a big fish, can get interesting quick. I only do it when the bite is tough and the water clarity is good or when skipping is the only way to get a bait in the spot. Still love my texas rigs and jigs so 85% of the time I have a baitcaster in my hand.
  3. Here in Southeastern NM its been blowing 25 to 35 with gusts of 40 to 50 for the entire last week. I love to fish but I stayed home!
  4. I skip all my weightless plastics with a 7'mf Fenwick Aetos spinning rod and and absolutely love it.
  5. I still use the Tiny Torpedo in clear and a Jitterbug in black. Yes they both still catch fish and yes I am an old fart lol.
  6. I used to throw the 5" senko but switched to the 4" after my wife kicked my behind with a 4" senko several times last year. Not exactly a scientific study I know but the switch to 4" has not hurt my catch rate and I have confidence they work. I personally think the 4" works a little better when the bite is tough.
  7. Trick worm, Hula Grub, Super Fluke, Rage Tail craw and Senko!
  8. Hey fellas, all I'm tying to say is the SC III blank whether it's made in Mexico or the USA is a pretty good starting point for a fishing rod. Fish them both at night and I'm absolutely positive they will both work just fine.
  9. I was told by St Croix that there is no difference in material of their blanks between the USA blanks and Mexican blanks. Same graphite, same resins, same everything. Just fabricated in different locations. I have 3 Rage rods with SCIII blanks from Mexico and they are all very good sensitive rods that work just fine for me and got great deals on them. Will I feel more bites on a USA SCIII ? I seriously doubt it.
  10. fat ika is one of my favorite baits to skip under docks.
  11. I agree perfection is nice but rarely happens even with your new BMW. I have a friend who has a Z8 and we can have a long thread on that some other day. The blank on a NRX is one of the best made. If I have to replace a guide once in a while I will but I will still have one of the best rods made. As far as the Cashion goes, it's about half the price of a NRX so I don't expect the craftsmanship to be the same level but I do expect a rod to do the job it was intended for and this rod does it above my expectations.
  12. I have a cranking rod from Cashion. The action, sensitivity, weight and feel are exactly what I want in a rod for crankbaits. I've owned the rod for over 2 years with absolutely no problems. Is the rod perfectly wrapped and the craftsmanship outstanding? No it's not but none of the rods I own are perfect. If I look hard enough I can find fault with all my rods. Does the Cashion perform to my expectations? Yes plus some. So if the thread wraps on my NRX are not perfect does that make it a bad rod? Absolutely not and the same goes for my Cashion.
  13. I used to buy and try everything that came around. After years of fishing, I figured out what plastics I like and use and I'm sure you will have to go thru the same process. Time on the water with them is the only way to tell what works for you and your water. My collection of plastics has been narrowed down thru the years because now I only buy what I have confidence in. I know if I throw this certain plastic in the right conditions that plastic will work. That is the key for me, is to have confidence in the bait I'm using.
  14. I have a gen 1 also and its a great rod! Very light, very sensitive and a stout backbone. 6'9" mh f, It gets used all the time and I have G loomis, kistler and St Croix rods. All very good rods and the villian holds its own with all of them.
  15. I just got mine a couple of days ago. Not much time on the water yet but like smalljaw67 says, this is an extremely light rod with a soft tip but strong backbone. this rod should cover all of my finesse spinning rod needs but I am a baitcast guy 80% of the time. Best deal on a high quality rod that I have gotten in a long time. I absolutely love it. Big-Bass is right on the money with the specs.
