  1. Hey Jinx, I live in Haverhill, Where do you fish the Mack? I have been kind of scared to take my boat out there but I live very close to it. Also Crystal Lake, do they have a boat launch there?? I have not fished that yet. Thanks bud
  2. I usually use fake worms, but have some small crank bait and jigs.. I also have some green minnow looking things that are pretty heavy and can cast pretty far. If you can think of any specific i will go buy them tomorrow before I leave. I am staying right across from a large retaining wall. at the bayview inn. right between the OLD firestation and the lobster pound.. you know where that is?? Also what is the best time to get out there? when the tide is coming in or out? or is it a time of day thing?? Thanks and sorry for the Noobie questions.. Harpoon
  3. Hey Jigfishn, thanks for the reply, I do have a 6'6 mh rod with a spinner reel with 12lb test line on it. would this be ok or should I replace the line with something a little stronger? I am not too familiar with all the baits you mentioned but will definately look them mup and hit up walmart tommorrow and see what I can find. Thanks again Harpoon
  4. Hey all, I am heading up to a condo right on Well beach this coming weekend. I am novice bass fisherman at the moment but wanted to try some ocean fishing this weekend. Couple questions: Does anyone know the area and have any advice on lures and location? do I just fish off the beach I am not sure of any jetties up there but will look when I get there. Also I have two rods setup for basic lake bass fishing. What differently would I have to do to make these capable of catching larger fish? just upgrade the line? I do have a deep see rod my brother in-law bought me a few years ago when he would take me out on his boat but not sure this is a real castable setup. the line looks really thick. Ok I will stop here and see what you all have for me. Thanks as always Harpoon
  5. Hey Boston, that looks like a nice and active lake. Do you know if motorboats are allowed? could you explain where this lake is? I live in Bradford (Haverhill) MA and looking for some close lakes to tag after work or quick sessions when I can find the time. Thanks alot Harpoon
  6. Hey guys, I am looking to learn about the different types of reels there are. From what I can see there are two main types. spinning and Baitcasters, are there others? now my question is why/when would you use one over the other? From the fishing shows I watch I seem to see the Baitcaster used more often. I do have one of each but really never know which one to pick up. Are they made to throw specific tackle or for catching certain fish?? Thank you in advanced for the education. Harpoon
  7. Hey Bucketmaster, what lakes were you hitting and what time of day is best? Thanks signed yee who can't catch any fish
  8. Thanks alot FMOORE, much appreciated. I will definately check that out. As for fishing alone I don't mind that. I am just new at the boat launching thing and not comfortable doing it alone just yet.
  9. Deaknh03, My wife is always asking me why I don't use the boat. And I always say " I have no one to go fishing with" I guess I need to get some of them "fishing buddies" like you got..
  10. Hey Guys, I live in Haverhill MA. I bought a boat last year 17FT. Starcraft Fishmaster.. ( first boat) Can anyone point me in the direction of some good lakes in the area even over the border in NH that have launches for boats my size? I am quite the novice to be gentle.
  11. Hey Cat, I did break the man law and read the instructions. LOL It never stated how much below the boat it should hang but stated how high above the bottom of the boat it needs to be. For fiberglass 1/4 of an inch and for aluminum 1/8 of an inch I set mine somewhere in between. ok so check this out. last night i launched the boat in a nearby lake just so I could work on my boat bunkers. ( one of them rolled over on the last retvieval) so I sent the wife and kids out for a buzz around while I fixed it. so I noticed that when she was going pretty fast ( mind you it is only a 40HP motor) there was a high spray coming from the right side. ( right about where i mounted the transcuder) It looked like a jetski driving by.. It got too dark for me to investigate but any ideas why it would do that?? Thanks all Harpoon
  12. hey Slonezp, I wasn't able to get a board since I am leaving for vacation today. I called a marina to discuss this and he said that my boat doesn't have any wood on the inside so as long as the screws snugged tight to just add some of the apoxy to them and I should be good to go. So I did and it looks fine. I wish I had time to snap a pic. I do see where it will be able to bend up if it hits something. I still like your idea and will probably still do it since I want to get the speedo and water temp option for this unit. Thanks alot.
  13. What? WHAT!!! where were you yesterday with this statement? I got up early this morning and apoxy'd everything in.. DARN!!!!!!
  14. Hey Slonezp, wow thanks alot for the pictures. I didn't see them earlier. It looks like you have a new Humminbird too. Your transducer looks exactly like mine. That picture was perfect I now understand exactly what you were telling me.. what is that white connection next to it?
  15. Ok perfect. thanks. One last question. how low beneath the boat should the transducer sit? as I have it now it sits about 1" below the bottome of the boat. It that too much? Harpoon
