Flipping/pitching/backup Rod!?
So I have a couple questions. I mostly fish in the early morning and evenings ( due to 105+ temps). And because of that I do a lot of top water fishing. (Mostly frogs) and I want to get a back up rod/reel combo. I want it to be a flipping and pitching set up for when the bass miss my frog I can toss out a craw or any kind of t-rigged soft plastic. I'm looking at a Quantum accurist reel. I believe it's a 7:3:1. And it also has a neat flip switch. My first question is has anyone tried this reel and is it worth the 99$.??? Or should I just save more and buy something better (my wife keeps me on a budget ha) My next question is for flipping/pitching I'm gonna want something between 7'-7'6" heavy right? And does anyone have a good rod recommendation? (Keep in mind the budget)

Need Help With Frog Hook-Ups
I always like to mod my frogs right away. First I'll start by trimming the legs at least 1". And it could be more. Depends on desired action. Next, and this is a MUST for better hook up ratio. Bend the hooks up and out just a touch. This makes it a little less weedless BUT you'll get a better hook up ratio, and catch more fish. It's my favorite way to fish.

Crankbait Vs Casting Rods
I just picked up a ghost myself two weeks ago. Got the 6'8" in medium heavy, would have liked to get the 7' but I fish mostly from shore. I use mine mostly for top water and have loved this rod from the moment I got it. I think I'll buy a couple more as well. How does your 7'3" fish from the bank? Any issues with hitting the ground?

105* Where Are The Fish!?!
Fishing Update! Fished the Columbia river in tri cities and some back channel streams and killed smallmouth and largemouth. The smallest were off the river. Rock drop offs with a Texas rig crawdad. Which is the natural bait around. And the large mouth I killed with a frog. It was a great day

105* Where Are The Fish!?!
Nope. The water is literally only around 5-6' deep. You could walk all the way through this place now. And I don't know where they are going. I've been fishing the heaviest cover I could find with very little success.

105* Where Are The Fish!?!
So over here in eastern WA. We are going through a heat wave, (it's been 3weeks now) temps reaching 110. The average I'd say is 104. Fishing has been great this year so far. Especially the top water bite. But ever since this heat wave has came in the fish are no where to be found. I'm lucky to catch 2-3 is a 6 hr period. So my question is. Where are these fish going. And I'll give you a little info on my lake. It's a man made lake (size of a big pond) deepest probably 12' Lots of shore line vegetation, and fallin trees in the back at a beaver dam. Water is usually clean with 1-3' visibility. But it can muddy up. And due to this drought water levels have dropped about 7'. I was killing them 10-15' off shore near vegetation with frogs and senkos but now I couldn't buy a fish. So where are the fish going in this heat? Or is it the water level that is changing the fishing? Do any of you guys fish in this kinda of heat and what do you use? TIA. Need help!!

Rod Selection: The Basics
7' H/F 50# braid frog rod 6'8" MH/F 40# braid flipping and pitching, soft plastics, and poppers 6'6" M/M 12# mono crank baits, spinnerbaits, and buzz baits OP, Do these set ups work for what I use them for?
-
Spool Capacity
Ok does this look any better? I hooked my frog to my back pack and walked out until I was at the end of my spool. With the rod tip up and bent as if I had a fish and with the star drag tightened I reeled all the way up.
-
Spool Capacity
Yea it's different angles. I tried to follow 1/8 inch rule. But that's still not enough huh. And I will tighten it.
-
Spool Capacity
Ok I'll try doing that parking lot thing. Should I tighten the drag all the way when I do it?
-
Spool Capacity
Really? I felt like I put it on too tight. If I put it on as tight as your saying won't it start to dig into itself?
