  1. I'm wondering if I can fish the Rage Tail Chunks and Craws as topwater toads? Their action on a Rage Rig is awesome, and I'm wondering if I can cast AND retrieve on the surface 9with a smaller wighted hook) as a finesse toad? They are thinner than conventional toads, and the 3" Rage Tail Chunk might be good as a finesse lure.
  2. I fished Mattawoman before for snakehead (everyone, including the guys at MD DNR, tells you to go there) and got nothing. But my buddy often goes down to DC, and hits the Anacostia River. He rarely gets skunked there (partially because he is a finness fan). The water there is disgusting, and it's not too much of a tidal river, but there are fish. I'm thinking of finding a honey hole place near Howard County and fishing there, instead of driving to the tidal region. Problem is, snakeheads seem to like the tidal region and it's weedy, stagnant waters with lilies.
  3. Fried snakehead is delicious, and the two small ones I caught are gone. Anyone know where I can order some snakehead meat? Surely dead meat isn't illegal to possess?
  4. Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of using a swivel for more weight, but that will get clogged with algae.
  5. I want to get a Scum Tiny Toad (1") for some really fun topwater action. The problem is, it's only 3/16 oz, and I'm afraid of casting problems on my bait caster with that frog. Should I add some BB Spilt Shot to weigh it down? I'm afraid the fish with feel the weight when they strike, or that the lure is unbalanced.
  6. In my areas anything with exposed trebles would get snagged.
  7. What are your favorites?
  8. Thanks. I'm aiming to get smaller bass by cutting off the tail, but I'll get the Scumfrog TinyToad instead.
  9. Mattawoman Creek seems to be everyone's destination for snakeheads. Bowfisherman and anglers alike visit that place. Is it overfished? I read somewhere that there is a lot of angling pressure on the snakeheads there, and bow fishers have spooked the snakeheads from the easier to access areas.
  10. I'm thinking of getting one for snakehead, since I'm afraid my Scum Frogs will tear up from their savage strikes. Also, I read that snakehead will strike the legs, not the body, and a trailer hook will foul up in the weeds. But I'm afraid that it isn't weedless. I got the pic from Bangkok Angler.
  11. Should I do this? For some reason, I also get short striking fish on my frogs. I also want to go for a slower profile, to get smaller fish as well as the the bigger ones. I'm afraid that cutting off the tails will unbalance the frog.
  12. You should kill them. I fished some ponds for them, but unless you are in southern Asia, getting a snakehead filled pond is a hit and miss.
  13. Does anyone use the Z man GrubZ for bass fishing with great success? I used a Yum Grub to catch a lot of bass, but from the YouTube videos I saw of the GrubZ, the tail action on that thing is insane. I'm thinking of getting the 3.5" size, and trimming it down a bit. Somehow, though, most people who use it are in Australia.
  14. Anyone use this reel? I want a reel to throw light lures on my casting rod, and I don't want to get a spinning rod and reel. It looks decent 9Good features and cosmetics!), and since I fish small ponds, I don't need serious casting distance.
  15. I heard that the McKeldin Area of Patapsco State Park is good. Anyone fish for snakeheads there?
  16. I like soft plastic frogs with those paddle legs, which is why I'm looking at the Creme Frisky Frog. It seems to have a nice action. Here where I live, there are a lot of small toads in the spring. They are incredibly small.
  17. I'm starting to read into finness frogging (For both bass and snakehead) and I found some pretty interesting frogs around the 1.5" mark. So far, I looked at the Creme Frisky Frog, and the Creme Livin' Frogs. Do any of you guys have any recommendations?
  18. I live in Howard County, Maryland. Is there a very good snakehead fishing spot (swarming with snakeheads) within an hour or so of Howard Country? I have thinking of Anacostia Park or C and O Canal Park.
  19. Does the Banjo Minnow actually work? I saw it on a thread and got intrigued. It is a bit expensive, though.
  20. For me, jerking a hard jerkbait worked better than using a Slug-o, which my grandfather told me to use often. That's why I don't use it anymore. Problem is, the trebles often get them snagged.
  21. The Slug-o is the go to lure of some of my older family members. They swear by it. It seemed to be pretty popular back in the, too. Why did it go obscure? Was it the arrival of the Senko or Super Fluke?
  22. I thought of using the Slug-o, but it's extremely light (hard to cast on a bait cast weightless) and a bit expensive to me ($6.30 for 10). For $3, you get 16 3" Stik-os.
  23. I already have a good reel. I was just curious at a $20 bait caster at Walmart. Knowing how Walmart often has good sales, it's possible that the price of this reel will go down in the teens. I was just curious. I know that the "Outdoor Angler" brand from Walmart has some good stuff (The spinning reel is good).
  24. I was at Walmart the other day, and notice the Outdoor Angler Baitcast Reel on one of the shelves. Outdoor Angler is Walmart's fishing brand. It was going for $25. Anyone have experience with this reel? At the price, I don't think it's good, but you never know. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Outdoor-Angler-6-BB-Low-Profile-Baitcast-Reel/43300074
  25. I'm thinking of rigging a 3" stick worm (BPS 3" Stik-o) T rigged, and weightless. Is fishing it as a slowish jerk bait the best way of fishing it summertime?
