Stren Original Vs. Spiderwire Braid
Hello! Today I decided to go ultralight and bought myself a combo prespooled with Stren Original. However, I have some very bad experiences with mono (birds nests, abrasions, lost lures, bad hooksets, impossible ways to get inside my reel). I am wondering if I should spool it with some dark green spider wire EZ braid 20lb that I have lying around. I will be fishing in both clear water and non clear water, and with a leader, and a Johnson's Beetle Spin. Any ideas? Here is a picture of the braid I use.

Quantum Graphex
Hey guys, anyone use the Quantum Graphex? I am thinking of getting a light rod in the 6'6" size to use for a project I am doing, also for a little fishing with light presentations. Any luck with it? And will it do well with an Okuma Avenger 20A? Thanks. http://www.quantumfishing.com/products/3606/Graphex.aspx

Know Of Any Trout Websites?
This is on ultralight spinning gear. Great journals. http://spin4trout.tumblr.com With the arrival of the "trout magnets" at Walmart, there are a lot of spin fisherman for trout. Fly fishing is dying. I found another blog with a lot of content, but I can't remember it.

Great deal here: http://www.amazon.com/Panther-Martin-Best-Kit/dp/B000ZKNFW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441160468&sr=8-1&keywords=panther+martin Doesn't break the bank, and Panther Martins work.

What works for you works for you. I was just saying my experience with something, that's all.

"a Silent Panther"
It just is a really good bang for your buck reel. Caught some bullheads today. I still haven't got over how they don't even use a single ball bearing, but are so smooth. Guess that proves that I used to be wrong when judging a rebel by it's bearings. Walmart has them in my area for 7 or 8 bucks. A ZEBCO 202 costs that much.

Plus, everyone seems to only catch bluegill on trout magnets. Better spend your money on spinners, they are time tested and true.

Deadly Trout Lures.
Trout magnets are useless in some places in Maryland. At the beginners of the season, the close access points next to the road are crowed with trout magnet rig users. There are what, 5 people in a pool, with heavy action or medium rods. I will be surprised if any trout bites one, for they are all now very "learned." Walk further downstream, get out a Mepps or any other small spinner, and an ultra light rod-medium light rod, and you are set.

Help Selecting A Rod And Line
Love the Pfueger President. Really is a good bang for the buck reel. I find mono messy not just for small reels. They are a lot of problems they have. Braid is going to last longer and is smaller in diameter. Most braid is good, but I like the spider wire. Don't pay attention to your "super line," it really don't matter. The Lightning Rod is also a bang for the buck rod. Friends use it no complaints.

My Theory For Beginning Fisherman
I'm certainly nothing like a KVD, but I have seen a lot of people fish with me, and it seems they don't see difference in water. Like, they basically are fine throwing their Berkeley 6" Power worm 15' in a dock loaded with people, as they are throwing something a frog in a weeded, lily pad covered area with bass jumping out of the water for them.

Any luck with the mini magnets for you? I feel as if the small bait approach is underrated. Big trout eat a lot of small things, after all. Small trout too.

Maryland's Weed Growth
Don't know if it is just me, but I feel as if the water weeds in Maryland are at their thickest in a long time. Everywhere is like this. And the temperatures are extreme now, so that must contribute. Anyone else notice this?

"a Silent Panther"
That's true. Guess I found another low priced reel that's quality. The other one I have is an Okuma Avenger. Still haven't decided which one is better.

It just seemed good to me.. That's all. I close the bail by hand, too. Might want to buy one as a hiking reel for trout.

Is the problem really that bad? I had a Zebco last me years. I'm not trying to pound it. Is the problem really that bad? I have seen reviews of long time users that have been good. = Also, it's made out of graphite, or "carbon reinforced plastic." It's not the cheap plastic on spincast combos. I am very careful with my rods and reels, and I don't think they will break as you say.

Seemed solid to me, but I had not had it for long. What problems are there?

Maryland's Who's who!
Seems that some of the weeds in HoCo are above usual levels. Everywhere now is a "weed bed."

Mepps and Panther Martins deserve to be on. Trout Magnets......... I am not so sure. Only got crappie and bluegills on them. But the mini magnets have worked time to time.

"a Silent Panther"
Ha ha! Well, I outfithed them. Sorry about the wording and all and thanks for the correction. I usually have some mishaps with the ABU, so I spend them cutting line and stuff, or not casting far. My friends spend some tie each day cutting line or not casting as far.

Nowadays, all reels are designed to look shiny and high tech. Look at all those Okumas. But then you have the Shimao IX. Dull black, without any color accents. Heavyish and ugly.Looks like one of those primative spinning reels. Must suck, right? But for $12 and all those good reviews, I bought it. My friends weren't impressed. It has nothing shiny on it, after all. But this reel...... casted far, nice drag, and was smooth as I could ask, and handled catfish well. At the end of the day, I had outfished a $50 Diawa, another $40 Shimano, a pricey $40 Quantum, and more. Nothing wrong with it. I rather buy a good reel than a shiny one. I am impressed, and will buy a Shimano Stimuli rod to go with it. It outperformed my more expensive Abu I use as my main reel by miles, and I am putting it in the basement. I has some of the qualities of an $100 reel. It's doesn't rust, and is smooth. It can handled salt water, too. This reel, although very utility, is a good bang for your buck. Any other "silent panthers" out there?

Cleaning The Tackle Box
I'm just waiting for them to desiccate. Insects live an insane period of time without food and water. Guess I wait and scrub it out. Really annoying is that all my lures have the smell, and the coating is off an old crank bait. They also messed up my Hoo Rag, and I had to chuck it.
