Cleaning The Tackle Box
Long story short, I added salt to the tackle box, took out any gear, boiled the gear in water, and dried them. Now I am waiting for the maggots to die.

Cleaning The Tackle Box
Salt dehydrates them. Since the shed is unusually hot, and I removed their food, I was thinking they would bedehydrdated.

Cleaning The Tackle Box
I have a large size Plano tackle box I take with me. So when I was in Sandy Point State Park the other week, somehow a few shrimp I used as bait slipped out of the bag and few among the many things I have inside. Knew that just something was wrong that day. I caught fish after fish, and it just seemed too perfect. So the past days have kept me busy. For the whole week, I didn't check on my box. When I did today, it was crawling with..... maggots. I silently cursed and since I had to leave, scooped out the shrimp by hand. Since I had some salt at hand, decided to dump a nice load in the box, sealed it, placed it in the unpleasantly hot shed and left. Any tips on how to remove the maggots? I'm don't want a tetanus or anything. Also, any tips on cleaning the gear? After some trips, some of my stuff always smells funky. Do you regularly clean your gear after every trip? Thanks.

Ocean City Shark Fishing
I really want to catch a first shark. Doesn't matter if it is usually less than 2 foot long, I want it. I will be using sand fleas, since these guys will eat everything, and I will catch some other interesting species. I know what these sharks look like, since they got spines, glowing green eyes, and flat teeth.

Ocean City Shark Fishing
Really? I know shark fishing may be a stretch but smooth dogfish are known to be poor fights. I misphrased it, an AG Cardinal S is not ultralight, at all.

Ocean City Shark Fishing
This weekend, I am heading on over to Ocean City, Maryland, for Vacation. Of course, I want to try out shark fishing. Since I am aiming at getting a spiny dogfish with an AG Cardinal S, are their any tips on Ultralight surf fishing? Also, I have something in mind for chumming........

Really? They Did That?
That's why I prefer more remote lakes. Whenever there are other people, there are problems. Granted, there still may be some idiots at a rural reservoir, but anyone that wants to wake up early, drive that far, is pretty hardcore about fishing, and know the rules. At town lakes, I was once casting with a Rapala Clackin' Crank, about $15. I was fishing in this hump, caught dink after dink, and was in good spirits. Just then, a family of two adults and four kids came over with their bobber fishing Zebcos and started casting. They didn't pay any attention to where I was fishing. They fished right over my line, and tangled it when I was retrieving. Guess what they do? They cut their line. It must of tangled on the weeds or something, but I couldn't get it loose and had to throw my crank away. Of course, I get a blasting, even though my rig alone could have bought one of their whole setups. That was the last straw for me.

Do You Fish Alone Or With A Buddy?
My reasons are really that there are what, only I know three people as hardcore as me live near, and they always are caught up in something. I don't like fishing with someone that likes wearing a neon Under Armour shirt and shorts with no facial wear and shouts about sunburn. And then there was a guy leery about three feet of water. It took me the whole afternoon to explain to him he is 5' 9", and that I can swim. Whenever I bring a kid with me to spread the hobby, the parents are always concerned that there is a small drizzle, and balk at the last moment. Then the kid who says he is interested plays on his phone the whole time and makes poor casts and ignore what I say. The people that have the time really make it hard to fish, especially when they make a whole hour without catching a bluegill, and they shout about it. When in reality, they use a 4" grub on a bobber. I tell them to use a nightcrawler, but they are always leery of worms or want to catch big fish. I explain the part about casting and reeling it in, but no. No one listens. Rant over. But again, I only brought 5 kids out on the water, three being relatives, two being close friends of my parents. All of them are really gamers, though. I brought out 2 more older people, but they are really not the type to fish, even though they say they are interested. Overall, bring alone beats fishing with someone else for me, although I would like it if someone skilled was fishing with me, and I wouldn't mind teaching truly interested people.

Wierdest Way You've Caught A Pike
I caught a pike, on a 2 inch shad. It was small, though.

Carp Fishing Question
How's carpin' coming along? I hadn't have bites from carp recently, because of the cold front coming in the east.

Eating Smallmouth First Time In 15 Years...
Smallies ready are bad eating. I like like it though when I get a slab crappie.

Do You Fish Alone Or With A Buddy?
Do you prefer to go solo or bring someone along fishing? I know I like going alone, for many reasons.

Decline In Fishing?
Fry it until you can eat the bones. They crunch. I sometimes take home a plate sized crappie or two, but I can't see how catching a 2" bluegill and cleaning it is worth the time and effort.

Carp Fishing Question
White bread is illegal in some places to chum because it causes gut problems in carp or something. Not that it really is good for people, either. You have to use whole grain or something.

Carpet Fly
Well, what do you know! The fly stays on top perfectly. I can just to Home Depot's carpeting section for the rest of my flies.

Decline In Fishing?
Cost is not really a problem. A lot of kids my age are willing to shell out hundreds at Gamestop, even though there is a nice pond next to their house.

Do You Throw Lures In A Specific Order?
I don't really throw by baits out in any order, but I like to "probe" the area with a plastic worm first. That way, I can find whether or not the bass bite in one area, or are at a certain depth. I am leery to throw out a $20 crank bait out in a weedy area, so I use worms.

Carp Fishing Question
You can also chum with bread.

Carpet Fly
After buying a fly fishing kit, I was hooked on fly fishing. So one of my friends lent me his vice and some supplies for me to tie some flies. Long story short, I tried tying some Adam Flies, which are basically some brown hair tied on a hook, with some feathers on top. After getting the feathers on the fly, I dropped accidentally, and it landed on my reddish brown carpet. It was struck there. After pulling it off the hook, I noticed that there was some carpet fuzz stuck on. Since I was not short on supplies, I tied the fuzz on, and a got a pretty nice looking fly. Is there any potential I can use it on the water? I got some flies tied, but this is just a novelty.
