  2. Hey yall, like I've stated before I just recently got back into bass fishing (this past year) and I am hoping to be ready for a few tournaments next year, that's just a goal. What I wanted to know is what other rod and reel combos do you think I need? I'm trying to stick with 4-5. Right now I'm outfitted with: St Croix Mojo 7' M F with Shimano Curado @ 6.3:1 #50 braid with fluoro leader St Croix Mojo 7' MH F with Shimano Curado @ 6.3:1 #50 braid with fluoro leader And I have some cheap ugly sticks that I should just replace... 1 spinning ( not sure on specs all I know is that it's 6' MH F) 10lb mono 1 Ugky stick elite casting combo 6'6 with ? reel @ 6.2:1 12lb fluro The mojos are "technique specific rods" but I don't want to get the 6 rods (but would like to stay with them) or so they have, like I said earlier I'm just looking to have 4-5 I'm assuming I would need a crank rod, what reel would be best and would that work for jerks as well? Thanks in advance to all who respond
  3. thanks for all the advice, just can't joing a club because I'm moving in a few months. I plan to look for a club when I move to Columbus, GA though.
  4. Thanks to both of you, you both have given me two great perspectives to look at and I think that's exactly why I joined this forum!
  5. I'm currently stationed at Fort Campbell, KY near Lake Kentucky, I've seen a lot of tournaments going on there and have always wanted to compete in a tournament with winning on my mind because I'm competitive but having fun and gaining experience being my top priority Well, my biggest issues are that I do NOT have a boat and I'm sure I do not have nearly as much experience as most who compete. My question is how would I go about finding a tournament where I can find a "partner" or is there ever any bank fishing tournaments? I'm in Tennessee now but am moving to Georgia in December. Thanks to all who reply.
  6. Yes, I will be coming there to be a Drill so not sure how much time I have but I will shoot you a message and hopefully you could tell me/show me some spots, thanks and have a good one.

Hey everyone, I've used this forum often to look for tips, tricks, and advice but just recently signed up. I'm 26 and originally from Michigan right near Lake St. Clair. I joined the Army 6 years ago and am now in Fort Campbell, KY where I fish the Cumberland river and Kentucky Lake and small ponds/reservoirs and ill be moving to Georgia soon so I hope to find some good spots there, especially when I buy a Jon (only bank fishing now). I started fishing at an early age for stopped once I joined the army due to time but have recently started up again (about 1 year ago) since my son has taken a lot of interest. About 6 months ago I purchased my first baitcaster combo (UglyStick Elite Combo) and I liked it a lot so I've decided to upgrade and am now waiting on my St. Croix Mojo Bass 7' M fast with Shimano Curado reel 6.3:1 that ill be lining with suffix 832 50#. I will only have this and my 6'6 uglystick combo that I will be using so im hoping that covers most of what I need for bass. I'm hoping to get a lot of great knowledge from some experienced people, thanks!
  8. BassTravis, I use the 3/8 a lot as well, have you tried the rage tail menace? I've been getting hawgs like crazy the past few times out with that in blue flake or watermelon. Also I see you're from Columbus,GA, i'll be moving there in December hopefully I can find some good holes. Good luck to ya
  9. Shane, I know you said #30 or #40 pound but my local didn't have any so I picked up suffix 832 #50, you think that cause any issues?
  10. At around $80-85 I purchased the UglyStick elite combo 6'6 MH F about 6 months ago just to give the baitcaster world a try. It has worked very well and picked up a few good ones while learning. It was very easy to use, along with the help of this forum and youtube. Now it may have just been me, but you got to practice and practice often. Now that I THINK ive got it down a bit I'm going to purchase a Shimano Curado to go on my new St. Croix Mojo 7' M F. But this is all just IMO. Hope it helps.
  11. Thanks for all your advice Shanes7614, appreciate it
  12. What type of braid would you consider? If my the St. Croix rod holds 10-17# you don't but it the same as floro right? thanks for your help sofar
  13. Hey yall, Just looking for some feedback on what you would do in my shoes. I don't have money for multiple (3+) rods so as of now I have a UglyStick Elite 6'6 MH using 12lb flouro combo baitcaster but I feel like im missing a lot of hook sets and I just recently ordered St. Croix Mojo 7' M and I plan of putting a Shimano Curado reel on it just cant decide what line I want to use, ive been thinking about using all braid for that. I wanted something a little "better" than what I had which is why I purchased the St. Croix. Do you think those set ups are fine for what I do which is bank fishing 80% of the time using jigs, buzzbaits, spoons, cranks, etc. What would you recommend? Line, reel etc Thanks in advanced for the feedback
