Lowrance Elite-4 Hdi - Opinions
My FF doesn't have an exit button (Elite 4 HDI), however, I MAY have just found the issue. I was loading the map of the local lake on the factory card, which came with Lake Insight Pro 14. I'm guessing the unit didn't like that, cause when I moved all the Lake Insight files off and left the local lake files there, the unit behaved differently. The chart readout looked more accurate. I'm not near the actual lake to prove this right now, but I think I have this licked. This all might've not been so bad, but the owner's manual is basically crap. It gives you very general information and leaves you out to dry, and figured it out for yourself. I've been researching this issue, online, for a week or more, and really couldn't find any information pertinent to the situation, so I figured, in the event that someone else had similar issues, I'd post what worked with me, hoping to lessen other users' headaches. Oh, one other thing: This map was downloaded from the Insight Genesis sight in a package. It had 3 AT5 map files (a small, medium and large map, each), an XML file, and one file titled "Permissions". The map would not load without that permission file on the card with the map files. I didn't see any real difference with or without the XML file. The map loads automatically, best as I can tell, and if you try going to manual load it from the card, it tells you the card is loaded, but there aren't any maps on the card to be loaded. I've heard others have this issue. Sounds like a factory bug of some sort.

Oh yeah. Marienville is pretty close to my buddy's camp. We trout fish up there. Always make sure to stop in the Sportsman's Paradise, on 66, on the way up to camp. Good food and drink.

Insight Genesis Questions
Yeah, I'm dying to get this feature running. Your map, was it the only map on the card? The owner's manual does nothing to help you with these particular issues. I loaded a couple social maps, along with the included maps, on the same card. Wondering if THAT is the problem.

Insight Genesis Questions
Hey, can you share with us how you got it working? Having the same issue with mine. In my case, the map shows up fine, when at home, but I lose it when I'm on the water.

Has any of you guys have problems getting loaded charts to show up when on the water? Installed one of a local lake, here, that i frequent, and it shows up fine, at home. but then, when I'm actually on the water, I get nothing. Odd.

Sonar Logging And Map Generation
Hey Edd. Being on Lowrance's Pro-Staff, maybe you can help me: Bought an Elite 4 HDI, and just getting used to it. I found a social map of a local lake that I frequent, under the Insight Genesis social maps, and I downloaded and installed it onto the included SD card. Now, just sitting at home, I can see the lake with the contours and everything. HOWEVER, when I get to the actual lake, I get a blank screen that looks just like the one Wayne P. showed, above. I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong, but what? Maybe it's cause I had multiple social maps loaded onto the card at the same time? Maybe it's cause the map(s) were not loaded into the root directory? I just thought it was weird that all was well, when at home. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jim

Hey guys! Been lurking around the forums for a while now, and decided to finally go official. My name's Jim. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Last year, I got back into fishing, after being out of it for over 25 years, and am basically going balls-out. Years ago, I did a lot of what I called "junk fishing". Basically, river fishing with live bait and doughballs for Carp and Cat. Going to last year's opening weekend for trout season, here, reminded me how much I love and missed fishing. Last year, I kept mostly to the three rivers at my disposal: The Allegheny, The Monongahela and The Youghiogheny. as such, I am a big fan of Smallmouth Bass fishing. THIS year, especially given the large amount of rain we've seen, I decided to focus on a lot of lake and pond fishing. Over the last year, I've expanded and upgraded my rods and tackle, as funds permitted, procured a canoe, and even managed to pick up a fishing kayak with a Lowrance fish finder. I'm looking forward to continue reading all your threads, hopefully adding 2 cents when I can, and even throwing out a few questions of my own! Jim
