Baitcasting 101
Yeah, I'd either say use a higher test braid or stick to Flouro or Mono. The problem isn't the pound test, but the actual diameter of the braid, combined with the fact that braid seems to dig into itself if things aren't spools tight enough. If you must use braid, I'd be apt to start somewhere in the 40 pound range, maybe more. I tried 30 lb. Power Pro on my one baitcaster, and while it wasn't too bad, I could tell it wanted to dig in, like mentioned, at times.

Pinnacle Reels
Decided to delve into the baitcasting world a year or two ago, but didn't want to waste alot of money if I didn't like them, so I bought a Pinnacle, and it blew me away. So, the next time I was in the market for another reel, I snagged another Pinnacle. Never a regret.

List Your Five Top Producing Squarebills
Plucked what appears to be a KVD 1.5 in Sexy shad off the side of a floating tree, yesterday. The fact that many of you list it, here, is music to my ears. Update: Since writing this, I've gone back and looked at it. Turns out, it's a KVD 2.5, as verified by first hand looking at one at Wallymart.

When Do Ponds Freeze Over?
Just as I was finishing up last night, I noticed the shore that I just reeled into actually had some ice forming. This was at about 5 pm, and I live in SW Pennsylvania.

Mossy Farm Pond Trouble...
Johnson Silver Minnows cast a mile and are weedless? Just spitballing.

Rebel
I love my Rebel Wee Craws. That's why it pains me so much to have lost my two favorites to low-hanging branches on the local stream, recently. Gonna replace them, first chance I get. Nothing has netted me more Smallies than the Wee Craws.

Broke A Rod This Morning... First One In A Long Time!
Broke a rod, today, as well. Was only a $25 Berkley Cherrywood HD, so it's not major loss. Still, it ticked me off, majorly, since it happened on a snag, and I barely got any force on it when it happened. Looking at the inside of the break, I'm not altogether impressed. Seems very thin, IMO. I'll buy a replacement, come payday, but it won't be another Berkley.

Using A Wrench For Bass?
When I read the title "Using A Wrench For Bass?", i just thought it was the nickname of a lure I wasn't aware of, or slang for a piece of tackle. Little did I know....... .....If I use an adjustable wrench, like a crescent, will it adjust the size of fish I'll catch?

No More Car Topping My Canoe
Having a trailer for my Pelican canoe would be awesome. The d**n thing weighs close to 84 lbs. The kayak is a tad lighter, so I don't mind roofing it as much. Neither of my vehicles is set up for towing, and, right now, neighter is my wallet.

Transducer Burnout
He doesn't confuse it, he states that what they commonly refer to as "sonar" in fishfinders is acutally "ultrasound". Are you saying it's NOT ultrasound? Here's another link: http://www.thehulltruth.com/marine-electronics-forum/434151-transducer-damage-used-out-water.html Some state prsonal experience with this, other have quoted company stances. Sounds like it COULD decide on the type of transducer.

Transducer Burnout
Okay, got it. First, the quote: "One misconception is that if you leave your unit on while the transducer is out of the water you will damage the transducer. This is entirely false. While leaving any electrical device on for long periods of time can reduce the service life of the equipment, a transducer will not be damaged by leaving it out of the water while still pulsing." Now, the link to the article: http://www.yakangler.com/blogs/user-blogs/item/2733-fishfinders-and-transducers-oh-my And, if you think about it, it makes sense. You have people hull-mounting their transducers. Most of those installs do not have the transducer in any sort of liquid medium (I say "most" because some people actually fill a well around their transducer with water.), and it doesn't harm the transducer in THAT environment.

Transducer Burnout
I'll be glad to, if i can find it. It was something i just stumbled across. I'll see if i can re-trace my tracks.

It's a bunch of b.s.. Was just reading about this fallacy, recently.

Lake Drawdown Waypoints
Yeah, I'd never trust a phone for any amount of accuracy. I've seen many times, just how far they can be off. Not a precision instrument.

Favorite Small Crankbait For River Smallies
I ALWAYS have one or two Wee Craws at my side when fishing Smallies. They seem to love them.

Stable Kayaks
As someone who's new to kayak fishing, I thought my new Field And Stream Eagle Talon would be more stable than it feels to me. So, I created, essentially, training wheels. I bought two boat fenders and attached one to each side, as sponsons, to further stabilize things. It DOES create additional water drag, which is a bit annoying, but once I feel I have my "sea legs" a bit more, I'll detach them. I already have a pair of outriggers that I made, for my canoe, to allow me to stand while fishing. They make things REAL stabile, so, if I choose, I can always add them to the kayak, for standing up.

Kayak Hoist
I use two gambrel and hoist pulley systems from Harbor Freight for my canoe: http://www.harborfreight.com/gambrel-and-pulley-hoist-99758.html For my kayak, I have a wall storage system.

Weedless Tube Jighead-How To Rig?
Well, since he asked about rigging with jigheads that are already weedless, I figure I'd chime in. I can't remember where, for the life of me, I read it, but you take a coffee stirrer and from the poke it through the tube where you want the weedguard to exit. Now, with the end that is through the inside of the tube, bring it out of the back of the tube and feed it OVER top of the weedguard. what you are essetially doing is using the stirrer as a guide, to bring the guard through the tube and out the hole created. You MAY have to start feeding it in with the jig head facing down, to get it started, but you get the idea. Then, just push the jig's eyelet through the tube, and tie off. Depending on the guard material, such as metal, you may have to bend it back into position. A bit tedious at first, but you get the hang of it. Hope this helps.

Anyone Use Braid On Cherrywood Hd?
Been running Power Pro 30 lb. on my Cherrywood HD, lately. So far, no signs of wear for me.

A Lure You Were Disappointed In After Using It
I've had several, but the one that sticks out to me, right now, is the Northland Tackle Jaw-Breaker. Not one d**n bite, so when I lost it to a snag, I wasn't heartbroken. Not replacing it, either.

Bill Dance And Private Ponds
Most of these "fishing" shows are staged, anyway, right? I'd be willing to guess Dance's show is no different. I DO watch his show, but usually FF through most of the "catches", especially because they way he handles a fish annoys the **** out of me. I hate watching someone hold a fish at such a steep angle, without propely supporting them. That said, I DO take note of what tips and lessons he has to offer.
