  1. I purchased a GoPro last season and began filming weekend trips and small weeknight tournaments. As mentioned above its a good tool to play back video and learn from your experiences. Sometimes I have unconscious habits that when I see on video I can address and change. One of my favorites though is to catch a great day of fishing on film and be able to go back and relive those moments, I find that a video of the day is more fun than looking at a picture. As far as editing goes I also like to keep it simple. Just simple edits of the fish catches. It takes a lot of time and energy to make a big production out of a day of fishing. I think it would be distracting if I were constantly focused on getting great footage rather than enjoying what I love to do. One tip if you do decide to start filming, when I catch a fish or something interesting happens I will stop and restart the video. Seems tedious but it becomes second nature after a while. This will help you easily find the interesting parts of your footage when you go to edit vs watching hours of film to make a few minutes of video.
  2. Most athletes with sponsorships probably make as much or more money from their sponsors than they do on winnings or salary. Marketing their sponsors products as "the best" is just part of the gig. Do your own research and pick the best product for your application vs buying what your favorite athlete uses.
  3. Heard him mention something on a previous video about wanting to get down here and fish WC. Awesome that you got him on the water.
  4. So much room for activities!
  5. Thanks for the tips. I have caught a few fish from Catclaw in the 3 pound range but nothing 4-6. Big ones always came on a jig around the wood like you mentioned. might have to hit it again in the spring and see what happens.
  6. That sounds more like it ha!
  7. We like to go all out and catch 1 giant bag then suck the rest of the season.....
  8. I spent a little while walking the dam at Blue Springs lake tonight. Had a slight crowd in one corner but there's plenty of space to move around. Ran into a few small white bass and a decent largemouth with a lipless crankbait. Had to leave cause my allergies kicked up and couldnt stop sneezing. Might be worth a shot if you're in town another night.
  9. As far as quality goes Jacomo is far better than James A Reed (or most other lakes in the area for that matter) but as you mentioned there is little to no bank access. I have fished James A Reed several times in the past few years but never had great success. It gets pounded pretty hard this time of year by bucket fisherman. There are several lakes to check out so if one isn't producing there are always options. I have had the most luck on Catclaw, Nell, or Gopher. Gopher lake has flat bottoms tied up to rent for $5. Never tried it because you can walk around the entire lake and I'm lazy and don't want to paddle. There aren't a lot of great options for bank fishing around the area. I have also fished Lone Jack conservation area and caught some small bass. It is out in the country a ways and doesn't seem to get hit as hard, about 1/3 of the lake has shore access.

  11. A few brown fish from Wolf Creek. They were eating topwater baits really well for the first 3 hours we were there before the bite died off. Bonus footage of Adam swinging a 3 pounder on the pompadour. Probably 30 fish between the 2 of us on the day.
  12. We caught most of our fish on the outside edges of the grass or in deep brush offshore. Did catch a few on a frog in the grass but couldn't get a consistent bite going. So most of the fish we caught would be tough to get to from shore.
  13. Luckily I was mostly finished. Got a quick shake in and slammed the door just in time to set the hook. Glad I was wearing running shorts. A button and zipper would have just made things complicated. I would never...
  14. The usual DoCo things, and proof that men CAN multitask.
  15. Check out the electronics page on this site. Great tips and tricks on there and plenty of knowledge on this site to answer you questions. Don't be afraid to ask.
  16. Agree with this 100%. You can always remove your electronics and put them on a different boat if you decide to upgrade.
  17. The name sold me. Buying one today.
  18. I have a gopro or this would be great.
  19. Mine has different backs as well but the charge port is on the side. Dremel is a good idea but I'll probably have to buy another case on the off chance I decide to take it in the water. Dremel holes aren't very water proof.
  20. Do you have a case for the camera that allows you to mount it and keep it plugged in? My case doesn't have an opening for the charge port and I can't mount it to the boat without the case...
  21. I'll check into it. That would be much easier than swapping batteries every 2 hours.
  22. Here are a few of Drew and I's fish from Mozingo Saturday (and a bonus bullfrog). Fished pretty tough and the decent fish we caught were all super skinny. T-rigged craw and big worm were the most effective where wood and grass were mixed. Biggest was 4.25lbs. Need more battery for the gopro, missed out on a few of our other respectable fish late in the day.
  23. Especially a 3.5lb fish. Must have had big plans to cull up from there....
  24. Other than that fish we didn't catch much further south from where you were.
