Looks like a good deal. I still like the regular Senkos better but unlike other kits I have seen, this one actually has some good colors.

PowerPro is still my favorite. I have tried Suffix, great line, but I still think PowerPro is better. It seemed to lose its' color faster and frey just a little more. I thought that the PowerPro also casted further as well. As far as which one is stronger per and has better knot strenght, I would say that they are about equal with a little advantage going to Suffix.

GYCB does have that "Baby Bass" color but I don't think it actually immitates that specific color well. I would go for the Green Pumpkin/Watermelon laminate or the Green Pumpkin/Amber Laminate. But with that said, IMHO, any dark color will get the job done.

One other to consider is the Daiwa Zillion Crazy cranker (JDM). I have yet to fish this one but I keep hearing how good it is from a fishing buddy who has one. I look forward to putting this reel in my hand this summer.

If your aiming to cast crankbaits only with a new reel, you might start with a specific rod, something with a Mod. to Fast action, a soft tip and enough power to handle the size fish you want catch. If you looking to cast 1/4 to 3/8 cranks, I would look at the Curado 200DPV 5.0:1 and a Loomis CBR843.

I picked it up at Dick's Sporting Goods. There was a stack of coupons at the reel display case and on a rack next to the hooks.

I paid $2.84 last weekend and this morning it was $3.19. Just plain stupid..........

What is the major difference between these two reels besides bearing count? It took a close look at both of these new reels and couldn't see alot of difference. Any thoughts on these two reels?

When I feel that I want to try something big, I go to a 7in Senko. I have only caught a few with monster softplastic but the ones I have caught have been 6+lbs.

A couple of weeks ago I purchased $10 worth of VMC products and got a coupon to send in my receipt and POP for a free Rapala lure. Today I received it in the mail. I got a DT-6 in Crawdad with the sureset hooks. I thought I might have to send some cash for shipping> Nope, just a stamp on the envelope I sent. Awesome deal.

I too would get something I couldn't get locally: maybe a different color senko 6'', a bag of megabass softplastic, or some GYCB tubes,

For me, I have the best luck with the following but as stated when the fish are hungry, everything works. 1. Weightless Senkos 2. Zoom Lizards T-rigged 3. LC Pointers 4. Fat Ikas

I voted local for the local tackleshop. I tend to buy a lot of my stuff at Dicks Sporting Goods but if I want service and basically anything I can't get at Dicks, I go to my local tackleshop. I'm lucky though. The shop I go to has just about anything you can imagine. They have reels from a Barbie rod upto say a Daiwa Steez, rods it's the same thing, and for lures they have more Zoom than BPS, GYCB, Lucky Craft, Megabass,etc.

Lucky Craft and Rapala. I can't wait to use the new DT Fat series from Rapala. It looks like a winner.

If your looking at BPS rods, check out the Johnny Morris Sig. series. I have been using a 7 M for cranks since they came out. It cast a 3/8oz crankbait a country mile. It is rated as a fast action rod but the tip is so soft that I like using for cranks. The sensitivity is just OK but the guides and reel seat are top notch. I have mounted a Curado 201 on it and have been very pleased with setup so far.

I have been using Trilene Profesional and it is the first Flourocarbon that I have use that actually lives up to all the hype. Just great line.

I kind of thought the same thing. With all the different colors, why make more? But after I saw a few of what was available, the color schemes sort of made sense and would seem to be good to add to the regular run. On the other hand, there are some colors I will probably never buy that are made on a regular basis. It's not like there making a purple/red/chartreuse with silver/gold/blue flakes swirled laminate Senko or what ever else is left over at the end of the day to make some off the wall color combination Senkos.

Does anybody know why some of the treble hooks that Megabass uses have the barbs on the outside of the hook? I had never noticed it before and just thought it was odd.

I have to go with sometimes as well. Like everybody else, it depends on the water conditions. It also depends on how hard I want to work a jig. If I work it slow, no rattles, and if I want to swim, jerk or bounce it, I might want to have a rattle.

I have this exact rod. I think you should be fine with a 3/8oz jig but a 1/2oz is where I think this rod excels the most. This is probably the most versitale rod I own. I have yet to see a lure this this thing can't tackle. It works great for moderate to heavy cover and it also has plenty of power to pull some big fish out of cover. I would highly recommend it.

I picked up another odd item at local tackle shop today. It was a special order color Hula Grub. I have never seen anything like it from GYCB. I asked the sales guy about it and he was not sure who order them but he did say that they were new. There is no color number on the package. It just says special order. The one I picked up has a pumpkin with black flake body and solid black skirt. He had other odd but good combos, like black with a chartruese black flake skirt and smoke with blue flake with a black with blue flake tail. Just wonder if anybody else had seen stuff like this from GYCB. I had no idea that he made some actual Custom baits.

I love my Calais 201A. It's a luxury to fish. Smooth and super strong. My only complaint is the weight but your only talking about an ounce more than most other reels.

I too am tired of these shows. I decided to tune them out and look elsewhere for entertainment. Like fishing and BR. ;D
