  1. No can do, unfortunately. Only one reel.
  2. Hi guys, I pulled the trigger on the TW memorial day sale. I wanted to get a reel that I can use for inshore fishing and for frogging. Since I was not entirely sure which one to get I ordered the following thee: * Daiwa Coastal (price: 196 USD) * Shimano Curado 201 HG (153 USD) * Shimano Chronarch C14+ (230 USD) Here is what I think about the reels: *Daiwa* * Pros: Good ergonomics for saltwater, sturdy build, big line capacity * Cons: Braking system seams to be very basic, which might be a challenge when I want to throw lighter froggs. Has a little bit of play in the handle. Overall does not feel as sturdy as the Shimanos for some reason. * Neutral: Have not see many reviews on the reel yet. *Shimano Curado* * Pros: Small, light and compact. The drag system seems to be pretty sturdy. Price * Cons: the braking system on the side. To close it there is a lot of fiddeling needed to align the plates to close it. The red brake stoppers also seem not very sturdy and I almost lost one by just playing with it a bit in my living room * Shimano Chronarch* * Pros: Super built, Looks sexy, Drag seems very good as well * Cons: Less line capacity (potential prob for Inshore), the braking system is a lot of fiddeling and I am afraid that I would easily loose stuff when I have to open the brake system to adjust things. Most expenisve of the three. So, what would you do? Thanks for your thoughts!
  3. I ordered a couple of Shimano reels as well. Got the discount applied to them too. Order will be here tomorrow. Just got a call from them. AWESOME!
  4. Wheeeen is it going liiiiivvvee? Caaaan noooot waaaiiiit annnyyy looongeeer.
  5. Ok, I narrowed it down to the following: Reel: * Shimano Curado 200 I 7.2:1 * Daiwa Coastal 200HS 7.3:1 Rod: * Lew's Custom Speed Stick Rod 7'6" Heavy Mag Frog * Okuma Scott Martin TCS Casting Rod 7'3" Heavy * Genesis II Cast Rod 7'5" Fred's Magic Stick Line: * Berkley Trilene Professional ( not sure if I should go with 50 or 65 pound). Would be super happy about feedback on this! Thanks again. -Seb.
  6. Yeah, that would be an option. I just do NOT understand why this is not clearly called out in the specs (on TW or at last on the company homepage). For Saltwater I was planning to not throw anything heavier than 1.5 ounces. Hair Jigs, spoons, jerkbaits, spinners. Though the ratio of me using it vs freshwater would probably be around: 90% freshwater (bass) vs 10% inshore. Thanks for your help!
  7. Bay Area of San Francisco. I went out and cought a 50 pound sting ray with my Shimano Expride Ex Heavy and the Lews BB2 Inshore (on 25 pound Big Game) the other day. This rod and reel is great, but I am looking for something lighter now, with a faster tip that should help me to walk frogs better and have a bit more feel. At this point I am considering going with the following reel: Shimano Curado I Casting Reel And for the Rod theese are options I am considering: * Genesis II Cast Rod 7'5" Fred's Magic Stick * Lew's TP-1 Speed Stick IM8 Cast Rod 7'3" Heavy * Lew's Custom Speed Stick Rod 7'4" Heavy Mag Pitchin * Dobyns Fury Casting Rod 7'3" Mag Heavy I would really love to understand how much those rods weigh, but not even on the company's homepage I can find that info for some (Dobyns for example). Weight is important to me, since frogging is requires a lot of movement of the combo and tires you out quickly if the set up is too heavy. What are you guys thinking?
  8. Mostly Stripped Bass. But you never know what is gonna bite .. I am just doing bank fishing here. So nothing really from a boat.
  9. Hi guys, I am in the market for frogging combo that I also could occasionally use for inshore fishing. I would like to stay within 300 USD for the set. I would like to operate the reel with 50pound test braided line. Some reels that I have looked at online (high gear, left hand retrieve): * Daiwa Coastal 200HS * Daiwa Tatula Type-HD * Shimano Curado 200 Rods: (If possible I would prefer a shorter rod, since I am a bank fisherman and with a long rod its harder to walk the dog with a frog.) * Dobyns Fury Casting Rod 7'3" Mag Heavy Would love to hear your thoughts on this and maybe you have some proposals? I am planning to buy during the Memorial Day sales. Thank you all.
  10. Happened twice to me: 1. Biwa S-Trout (35USD) 2. Huddleston Weedless 6 inch (25 USD) --> Both days = ruined!
  11. Hi all, Wondering if there are anglers from Marin County (Bay Area) on this forum, that would be interested to fish together. Please let me know. Cheers, Sebastian
  12. Thank you for the tip. It is a bit too far for me though.
  13. I really do. Seeing the lake being full of fresh water after such a long drought, makes me happy! Though, as we humans are, we always want more. Bass is my 'more'
  14. Haha, That is the plan! Though I can only spend one weekend day fishing, so I would love to make the time most productive. Since I would still consider myself a noobie (have been going after bass for not even a year now), I would love to get some ideas and suggestions for more seasoned folks like you. I hate to come home with 0 fish and 0 baits. This is pure defeat. ;(
  15. Thanks again for your thoughts Tom. I thought I needed to get something loud and shiny into the water, so that the bass would see/hear the lure in the murky water and would come to the lure, even from some distance (since I had no idea where the fish would be). So it sounds like you are suggesting worms, jigs and swimbaits? Cheers.
  16. Hi there, I am located in Marin County, California and we had a lot of rain over the last weeks. The lakes, which were scarcely empty in Summer are now filled up again. The water is now really murky though, due to the amount of rain that fell. The water temperature is around 55-60 degrees. A lot of areas are flooded now that usually are not. The water there is around 4-5 feet. Since I am a bank fisherman and I can not reach the really deep areas anymore, I am wondering the following: * How long does it take the fish usually to migrate to flooded areas? * Will the fish move to shallow areas considering the new rain, muddy water and water temperature * What lures would you try and what kind of fishing style would you choose (weather was overcast with some slight rain)? Personally I tried a lot of search baits (spinner baits, buzz baits, shallow divig rip baits and some bigger blue gill swimmbaits), Jigs (which stopped after a few attempts, since the water was too murky and I am thinking that a Jig is not the best in murky water if you dont know where the fish are) and even some top water (Spoons and Frogs). Would you have done something different? Thanks. Cheers, Seb.
  17. My Thai friend bought them in Thailand and shipped them to me. First impression from the doc (inshore) today: they do not hop and flop as shown in most vidoes. I tried them just for a couple of casts, so this is just a first opinion. I think I need to use a snap swifel with it, since tying it on directly did not do the job. Will keep you updated.
  18. Hi all, some time ago, I posted a video of a lure that I found on youtube. The lure is the Jumping Thai Frog. Since there has been some interest in the lure, I thought I would keep you updated on my opinion. So, I received the the lures from my Thai friend today. I will try them out this week and weekend. I am wondering if I should give it a try Inshore as well (strippers, etc.) what ya thinking? Please let me know what kind of information would help you in regards to the different types. Cheers, Seb.
  19. Hi there, as Zeth kindly mentioned, I am always looking for new fishing buddies. I am not an expert by any means, but if you are interested I could show you a bit around and share some of my equipment for starters! Please PM me if interested. Cheers, Seb.
  20. Cool, thanks! I will give them a try then.
  21. Hi there, they seem to have a lure that I can not find anywhere else. So I was wondering if anybody knows them, or has done business with them? The name of the store is "Vimage Outdoors" Thanks for your feedback. Best, Seb.
  22. Yeah, that makes a difference. I am here in the Bay Area and the fishing is still decent! So I want to capitalize on this opportunity with the right gear!
