Super Shallow Running/Floating Jerkbaits - Name Them
Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
I'm leaning towards the MH/F but if a strong enough case for the MH/MF can be made I'd be open to that as well.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
Okay, getting ready to swap my wife's rod that i had got her during a promotional sale after many people tell me that the 7'3" Heavy/Fast casting rod i got her was just an absolute steel rod and she'd be better off with a lighter power model since Abu Garcia's...especially the Veritas line...are really underrated (i.e.- a MH fishes like a H and a H would fish like an XH). So, I've narrowed it down to two models: 7'1" MH/Moderate Fast or the 7'3" MH/Fast. Which of these rods would be the better all-around rod for throwing larger baits like the Whopper Plopper 130, Spro Rat, small swimbaits/glide baits (S-Waver 168) etc. under 2oz.? I'm getting ready to ship out her other rod for swap today so I'd really like all the advice I can get before 4pm when UPS picks up!

Berkley Warpig
I thought they were supposed to be one of the most snagproof of any lipless crankbaits made .
-
Berkley Warpig
So what size hooks do you recommend for this bait?
-
Berkley Warpig
So the issues with the Warpig's paint durability are exaggerated? Would applying the Hard As Nails just be a piece of mind?
-
Berkley Warpig
Okay, thinking on getting some of these as i like the looks and action but the common complaint seems to be that the paint on the nose chips off easy and so do the eyes...wondering if I did buy these baits and applied a little Hard As Nails clear coat to the nose area and eyes if that would solve these problems?

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
The replacement rod would HAVE to be a Veritas model as that is the only rod included in the package deal promo that this particular vendor is running.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
I have received it. I did a tip test last night and it's definitely much stiffer than my Dobyn's Fury 734c or even the Lightning Rod Shock MH that I compared it to.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
What would you recommend for the WP130 and S-waver 168?

Teckel vs toadrunner
I have the Toadrunner and eventhough I've just started using it i like it better than the Teckel I had. They just seem to be made better and they run more true IMO. The Teckel would sometimes take a few seconds for the tail to start churning but the Toadrunner starts churning right at the start of retrieve.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
Nah, I have a flippin' heavy rod already...really wanted something for her to allow her to throw the bigger baits.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
Nope, she hasn't even used it yet. I did not get it at Dick's, bought it from another online retailer out of Kentucky. If she uses it I'm quite sure the retailer would not take it back but being unused there's a chance.

Abu Garcia Veritas 3.0
I recently bought my wife her first baitcasting setup. Ended up getting a good deal where you bought an Abu Garcia Revo S 4th gen and got a Veritas 3.0 rod for free. I went with the 7'3" Heavy/Fast model as she would like to throw heavier top water lures like the Whopper Plopper 130, Spro Rat and maybe some glide baits like the S-Waver 168 etc. and maybe some frogs...stuff like that. I thought she'd need a pretty stout rod for that so i got the Heavy Fast which is rated 3/8oz. to 1-1/2oz. Now some others are saying that rod is more than a broomstick and closer to steel. They're saying with a Veritas you don't want over a MH and that despite being listed as 3/8oz. to 1oz. you could easily throw the Whopper Plopper 130, S-Waver 168 etc. without worry. I would like some more opinions and ideally first hand experience before i contact the vendor and ask if i could swap the Heavy rod for the Medium Heavy rod.

Jackall gantarel swimbait
I was honestly thinking of removing the feathers...just don't like the look but if they actually have a use I may reconsider.

Jackall gantarel swimbait
I have the RT Ghost Gill and it's scary how realistic looking that bait is...you'd swear it was a real fish until you see the feathered trebles on the belly :).

Too hot?
The only Bass lightning rod I'd want would be made by Berkley .

Crankbaits or Frogs?
Okay, wow...looked like it was going to be a landslide win for frogs but suddenly crankbaits started making a comeback. Okay, here's the situation...I bought a half dozen or so of the Booyah Flex 2 1.5 cranks late last Fall and didn't even get a chance to fish them before our season ended. I also have about a half dozen Rat-L-Trap lipless cranks and for a different presentation when everyone else is throwing noisy cranks I recently got about a half dozen silent Lucky Craft 1.5's. As for frogs, I currently have 4 of the Live Target 65 size and 3 of the new Booyah Toadrunners. The only reason there's even a debate is because I really like the looks of the 6th Sense Movement 80x crankbaits (and their Quake 70 lipless) but if it weren't for those I'd have already placed my TW order for some River2Sea Bully Wa 2's and Spro King Daddy's.

Crankbaits or Frogs?
If you had to choose a new set of lures for the summer would you get some new crankbaits or hollow body frogs? Please keep it between these two types of lures for simplicity's sake .

Jackall Grinch
Does anybody have one of these yet? How does it fish? What are your thoughts?

Wife and tackle
I use the old buy the lures etc. online and have them shipped to my work and slowly integrate them home and into my tackle boxes so as not to raise suspicion :). I usually scrape whatever leftover change we have from going out to eat, shopping, trips etc., wherever I have the opportunity to squirrel away a few extra dollars here and there until i have enough to place a tackle order. If she saw TW or Academy or Dick's Sporting goods boxes showing up on our doorstep each week she'd have a problem. As it is now she doesn't really know what I have for tackle and I like to keep it that way so if she sees something new she can't be real sure when exactly i got it...lol. I've tried the purse and shoe and jewelry argument too and she'll be like at least i wear/use mine, you have lures in your tackle box you've never used...yada, yada, yada! I've been attacked on more than one occasion by an MK, Coach or (insert name brand here) purse when I look in our closet or tripped over yet another pair of expensive Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Under Armor, Sketchers etc. shoes but all of these are necessary while another addition to my tackle box is a waste of money . You can't argue with a woman...at least and win...lol.

Too hot?
Nothing, just sometimes the obvious answer isn't the best is all.

Too hot?
Okay, so when it gets really hot out the fishing generally gets tougher and tougher as they just aren't biting as much, if you're on a lake/pond with docks that's an obvious spot to start fishing as it represents shade for the fish to get under and stay out of the hot sun but what if the particular lake/pond you're fishing doesn't have any docks or other visible structure for the fish to hide out under...where do they go? I know the obvious answer is they go deeper where the water's cooler but sometimes the obvious answer isn't always the correct one...so where would you fish in a situation like this?

How much would you spend on a rod and/or reel?
I would never call someone spending $1000 on a setup ridiculous, what they do with their money is up to them. I say spend what you can but know your budget! What IS ridiculous is someone who overspends their means to the point they can't pay the bills or their children go without new school clothes because daddy needs a new ultra expensive fishing setup...unless you are a professional angler stop trying to live like one if you can't afford it. I have to reign myself in every now and then...I always see something new and exciting I'd like to have but I have a family and am a working class "Joe" who doesn't make close to 6 figures a year so I have to tell myself that if I really want that new exciting lure, rod, reel it can wait until I do have the extra money to spend. I really don't care if there is "that much of a difference" between a $150 rod and a $500 rod...I can afford the $150 and I can't afford the $500...end of story. I would love to live life like the guys who say "you only go this way once" or "life isn't guaranteed to last forever" but I can't, my life has priorities and my #1 priority is my 7 year old son...everything else comes a distant 2nd. So kudos to those who could spend that kind of money, I will live vicariously through you but in the mean time I am satisfied and catching fish with my $300 combos and that's good enough for me!!!

Huk Neck Gaiter
Do any of you know how far these gaiters come down both front and back around your neck? I've found a decent deal on them but if they rise up on you when you move, exposing your neck either in the front or back then they wouldn't work well. I've seen both the Kryptek and the Trophy models on sale recently.
