Yes peroxide is garbage. I buy the big bottles of Betadine and split it up in smaller "travel size shampoo bottles" for the boat, truck, office and home. But heck some folks believe a belt or zip tie make a good tourniquet. People should educate themselves before giving poor advice.

I just sold a ton of tackle and decided to start over. I now buy a couple lures at a time and log how well I do before I decide to replace that lure. Example is I fished a rattle trap for a few hundred cast and finally broke it off looking back not a single fish came from it. I really feel if you are pretty new to bass fishing and go out and spend $250.00 on lures you will end up with lures you won't use or regret buying.

I feel I would benefit from the lure running deeper. So I'm thinking Fluorocarbon may be the best bet.Like I said I "THINK" I wanna end up at 8lb. I'm asking what others advice because I don't know much about choosing lines. I'm asking about color clear or green because I have a huge roll of 20lb power pro that I could use. I've just had trouble with leaders and light lures and wasn't sure how the green line would effect strikes on such small spinners. The reason for the change is I'm looking to catch a "LOT MORE" fish lol.

It isn't them breaking off. I'm looking more for info on things like the type of line "floating or sinking" color of the line "clear or green" stuff like that. Test wize I think I wanna end up around 8lb.

I have been fishing 1/4oz beetle spins on a 6'6" med action baitcast rod, citca 200g5 reel and 12lb big game line. This setup has been catching lots of fish. I love the rod and reel but kinda wanna change up the line. What should I try next??

I'm very surprised you don't carry an IFAK and are not trained in the use of one. I do know two vets that never carried one my "wife Air Force she now does" and a good "friend of mine Navy". I would never tell people they must carry a tourniquet but to tell them not to bother with one is very strange. I won't post links on this forum or argue over this but I would hope every man woman and child would do their own research and realize the benefits of them. Again I've never had a bad guy walk in my house but I still lock my door every night. Huge thank you for your service sir. What branch did you serve in?

LOL You lost your $100.00 I'm not a vet. My wife is a vet so I've learned some from her and I've taken a couple med classes from a retired Ranger Medic. Amazing how a simple pressure dressing and or a tourniquet can save a life "should be taught to ever high school student in the country".

Not saying it won't work but it's not ideal 1) a belt will never get as tight as a tourniquet with a windlass 2) a homemade tourniquet will/may have a better chance of skin/tissue damage "still better than bleeding to death". At the end of the day everyone has to decide what works for them and what their needs are. Heck I've never been knocked unconscious and fell out of my boat but I still run with a PFD. Never been thrown out of a windshield but still wear a seatbelt. Never had an artery hemorrhage but still carry a tourniquet.

I spend a lot of time fishing the swamps and bayous with woods all around me. Those woods are full of hunters and while not likely I could catch a stray bullet one day. I also carry and while I have a good amount of firearms training accidents happen. Then there's the chance of freak accident stick though arm, slip with a knife or just a boat accident. You can bleed to death in 90seconds or so and its proven that tourniquets save lives so why not carry one? I carry a IFAK and a boo boo kit in my boat/range bag all the time and have never needed the IFAK but will always carry it. I also feel everyone should learn to use a pressure dressing and a tournament very simple skill that could save your life one day.

Betadine and a tourniquet are two things most kits are lacking.

I'm right handed and hold spinning/casting rods in my left hand. I find my retrieve is smoother when I reel with my right hand. Also I like to lift the fish from the water with my right hand.

I wouldn't mind going higher end but I have a aluminum boat with no carpet so my reels get scratched up pretty good. My goal from this point forward is to keep my rod and reel combos to around $200.00. BTW I made a few cast with the Speed Spool today and must say I really like it a lot.

Had the curado didn't care for it and the gear ratio TP I wanted wasn't instock. So now I have 2) Citica's 1) Caenan and 1) Speed Spool LFS. The Caenan I have has been a great reel but I've only used it with 1/2oz or more so I wasn't sure how it would compare to the speed spool.

I have 2 Citica's and I do like them a lot. I just wanna try something different this time.

I'm picking up a new reel tonight and gotta pick between two of them: Shimano Caenan $89.00 OR Lews Speed Spool LFS $99.00 My goal for this reel will be to cast 1/4oz beetle spins on a 6'6" Med action rod using 12lb mono. What one should be the better choice? Thanks

Thanks so much for all the advice! So far the old 1/4oz beetle spin has put more fish in the boat for my wife and son then any other lure. The wife is hungry for bigger fish but she always puts down the bigger baits for the smaller beetle spin that she has lots of confidence in.

Thanks for the advice. I can fish all day with just the hopes of a big fish but the wife and son wanna catch more not bigger.

What lures do you use when targeting smaller bass 12"-14"? So far my only luck has been on the 1/4 oz johnson beetle spins. Thanks BigTat
