Favorite Bass Baits

Featured Replies

Everybody comment their favorite bass bait to throw and what season.

Early Spring = Crankbait

Spring = Swimjig

Summer = 1/2ounce T-rig

Fall = Spook

Late Fall = Drop Shot

I like poppers and chatterbaits in summer, and crankbaits and swimbaits in fall.

Crankbaits and swimbaits in the spring. Anything deep in the summer. realistic swimbaits and poppers in the fall.

Speaking of poppers in the fall, my dad and I just caught a limit of bass (everywhere from 18" to 25") on poppers and swimbaits, under a bridge, in the shade, during the hottest part of the day. Hell of a test run for my new Rattlin' Chug Bug in Bleeding Pearl color. Worked like a charm!

Everybody?

You've gotta great sense of humor.

Chatterbait and ratltrap in spring

Trig and dropshot in summer

Squarebill in fall

Jerkbait and jig in winter

late spring/early summer -- weightless flukes and other soft jerkbaits

midsummer -- jigworm/shakey-head worm

late summer -- worm or craw on texas rig

early fall -- poppers and propbaits

october through april = almost no fishing (sad)

swim jigs are up there for me

spinnerbaits pretty much all season (except winter)

Fishing a jig in the spring and fall is hard to beat for numbers of large fish. Although it's hard for me to put down the swimbait these days.

I throw everything till I get action in the springtime. From crankbaits, inline spinners, spinnerbaits, minnowbaits, etc.

As the temps warm up I add the c-rig with plastics.

The rule of thumb they say is,

Springtime cranks, inlines, spinnerbaits, poppers etc.

Summertime plastics, c-rig, split shot rig, poppers etc.

Fall back to cranks, inlines, spinnerbaits poppers etc.

Jig n pig all year.

Plastic worm all year

Poppers/topwater all year

That's old school

Hard swimbaits

Soft swimbaits

With all this new stuff I try anything too.

The game hasn't changed only new baits, rigs and presentation's were added.

Soft plastics, year round. Mainly fish jigs in the winter. Topwater all the time, sometimes even in winter because I itch for blowups so much.....

Too many to list . Some of them are no longer made .

Mine may be a little different as my local lake is shallow and stained/muddy most of the year.

Bill Lewis RatLtrap, not many people fish them year round, I always have one tied on, mostly craw patterned.

Baby paca craw on a 1/8oz shaky head, I know it sounds odd but it flat catches fish for me

1/2oz jig in junebug/purple

T-rigged 4" white tube

Love topwater. But a senko year round for an almost sure bite

spinnerbaits pretty much all season (except winter)

They are my go to as well, the exception is small shakeyheads on creeks for smallies, but I'm adapting my cranks, jigs and other baits for them as well. My favorite season is fall, by far.

Prespawn-suspending jerkbait, spawn- texas rigged tube & trickworm, postspawn- rattlebait & spinnerbait, summer- topwater (cloudy days), stickworm (calm sunny days), fall- rattlebait, spinnerbait,& suspending jerkbait.

I use senko style worms pretty much all season but I catch more larger fish in spring/early summer on them. I use BPS Stik-Os but they probably all work about the same. I also use a variety of other lures at certain times.

winter and spring it's swimbait time - soft plastic trout imitations(Hudds and Savage Gear line thru , 3D trout)

summer time is wacky rigged stickbaits , some shallow crankbaits and stickbaits

fall is when i primarily use a jig .

There is a better way to fish for information, no short cuts in learning, put your time into studying available information on this site, in good bass books, vedio's and TV programs.
