  1. I've been slowing down my presentation and using some smaller lures (grubs, small worms, etc.) to get through tough days.
  2. I've found that there is a time and place for just about everything. That said, my "confidence rig" is a 4" or 5" worm and 1/8 oz. bullet sinker on light spinning gear.
  3. Will do. thanks
  4. 1/8 oz. ballhead on 10 lb. mono. Rigged so that the eye of the hook was facing up and the hook stuck out the back.
  5. I took advantage of the recent Sebile sale and bough three of their "squarebill sunfish." I received them today and immediately noticed a few things. For one, when I was carrying the box they were shipped in inside, I noticed the rattles were very, very loud compared to my other lures. This may or may not be an advantage, depending on the situation. Otherwise, the quality looks good and the paint jobs on the ones I got are nice looking. I don't have too many hardbaits to compare them to, but I think that they were a good buy for $2.44 each and I will probably pick up some more if they're still cheap. I'm really anxious to get them in the water. Anybody else have thoughts on them?
  6. Interesting. I tried them before but I could not get them to run "true". They just seemed to twirl in the water as if they were rigged on a swivel, but I rigged them directly onto a jighead.....
  7. I started on a medium heavy spinning rod about a year and a half ago. It is, in my opinion, simple and versatile. You may want to look into a combo from Daiwa, Shimano, or Pflueger. They are all good names and make nice budget gear too.
  8. I have two nice crankbaits that were custom painted for me a while ago that I like very much. I carry them in my "general box," which contains a lot of other tackle and lures. The paintjobs on them are very nice and I want to keep then as nice as I can when I store them. One way that I've found to do this is by stashing them in old pill bottles (the clear/orange containers with the white caps). That way, the paint is protected from treble hooks and other things that can damage them when they are not being fished. I don't know if anybody else uses these, or something like it, but I hope that at least somebody can make some use out of it.
  9. Saw they had them online, good prices on KVD cranks too. But you have to order a minimum of four it looks like.
  10. Just placed an order for 3 of them, 1 in chart. shad, 1 in pumpkinseed, and 1 in natural shad. I'll see how they do, but still looking for the KVD's that were mentioned. Thanks for all the help
  11. Same where I'm at (Kent County, DE)
  12. Thanks for the link
  13. I saw these on the Dicks Sporting Goods website: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=77041186&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.52416806&categoryId=12656977&fg=Brand I thought that they were nice looking combos for the price and have been thinking about picking one up in 6' 6" or 7'. I would probably use it most as a "beater" rod or to loan out to friends, but might use it myself every once in a while. I know that it may not be the best, but can you beat it for $20? Does anybody have any experience/feedback on them?
  14. Do you have a good source for these? I've checked online at Cabela's, Dick's, and some other places and all look like they're out of stock (or on backorder where you have buy 4+) both online and in the closest retail stores to me. You know where I can get them (especially the chart./black) for under $6?
  15. I don't fish them a lot (not a confidence bait) but I haven't had any issues with them. Colors are good-looking too
  16. Will those colors work well in stained/dirty water?
  17. Good thoughts on Strike Kings. Any thoughts on Bandit 100 or footloose series?
  18. I am looking to stock up on some squarebills/shallow divers, but I don't have a lot of money to buy the best quality. I've been looking at brands like Bandit, Bomber, Bass Pro, and Cabela's. I would like to get 4-5 in different colors (sexy shad, darker shad, bluegill, pumpkinseed, etc.). So what crankbaits do you like that are I the $3 - $6 range?
  19. Smaller size SK bitsy bugs. Crappie grub trailer (if you want).
  20. An old pro told me to dip little strips of felt in scent (he told me anise, the baking spice, believe it or not) and then to thread them onto the jig. Then watch the float and hold on tight....
  21. Ok thanks for all the replies. Next time I'm out I will look for roboworms, Berkley bottom hoppers, and Zoom worms.
  22. Ok thanks What hook and weight (if any) do you think is good for the Zoom worms? I only ask because I caught a nice size (3.5 or 4 lb.) bass on a "no-name" worm the other day and I want to stock up for the season.
  23. How do you rig them then?
  24. What is your favorite finesse worm brand for Texas-rigging? Do you add a weight or rig it without one? Also what color would you recommend for shallow, stained water with a rocky bottom?
