100% agree, but why put yourself in old coot with gas can range. I'm not against fishing docks, just trying to understand the reason for being so close, unless you wanted a confrontation.

Ok, pouring gas on someone is bad, but why (legal or not) do you need to fish so close to a persons property that they can pour gas on you from a hand held gas can?

I can swim "OK" and never wore a pfd while fishing. Then a few years ago a guy fishing not far from me drown. It's sad it took something like this to open my eyes but now I'm not on the water without wearing my pfd. At first I thought I would never be able to fish with it on, now it doesn't feel right without it.

I have a couple Eagle spinning rods and have not run into this problem. What size reel do you use?

I try to keep good notes and when I catch a fish I ask myself some questions, what was I doing when that fish hit? and why was that fish here?

Try a slip float, they take longer to rig but cast much better

I have been using both brands of cups for a few years now without any problems. Make sure to clean and inspect them for cracks or chips often and wear your safety gear.

I have started using pieces of small diameter rubber bands as stops, just tie a piece onto your line using an over hand knot, pull as tight as you can and cut the tag ends off real close. Sometimes I will tie on two pieces just to make sure it stays put. Super cheap and works great, pluss you don't have to redo your whole rig every time you need to put a new stop on.

I took a buddy fishing near my mom's house in a creek that I grew up fishing. The creek had a couple spots that saw the occasional fisherman but I showed my buddy some out of the way spots that were very hard to get to if you didn't know the area well. So one day I went to visit my mom and saw what looked like my buddies truck parked near the woods, I asked my mom about the truck and she said it had been there several times in the last few weeks. After a short hike in the woods I found my buddy and some guy he works with fishing away with big smiles on their faces. I felt cheated on, turns out he had been showing all sorts of people my "secret" spots and they were showing their friends and so on. Not cool!
