  1. Sorry, forgot to mention: I don't own a boat or kayak, so I'm limited to bank fishing for the time being. I walked along the trail that runs through Valley Forge and wasn't able to find any decent openings in the trees to cast from unfortunately. There is a boat ramp under the Betzwood Bridge, but I don't own a boat.
  2. Anybody live near KoP? I'm relatively new to the area and don't know any good spots for fishing. Mostly targeting smallies/largemouth. I don't own a boat, so am limited to places where there's bank access. However, would also like to know areas where bank fishing is difficult just for the sake of knowing. Thanks!
  3. I took apart my new Chronarch CI4+ 151 today to do some maintenance and reoil the bearings. I had no trouble taking off the sideplate housing the brakes; however, even after removing all the screws and handle nuts, the handle-side sideplate isn't coming off. It seems something near the clutch is holding onto it and won't let to. I tried wedging a knife in to pry it open, but it won't give. Has anyone had any similar problems?
  4. Hold up guys I need to get another bowl of popcorn
  5. I remember Fish Arrow is selling a jighead with the same prop in front of the hook, and it's been quite popular for finesse fishing, which I'm pretty sure this hook is also made for (but I could be wrong). I would go with a small swimbait or trickworm
  6. An old 1/4 oz. booyah buzzbait
  7. I have the Pflueger Limited Edition. Although there isn't much of a notable weight difference compared to the classic, I must say that I really dig the cosmetics. I'm not sure if this is a consistent thing, but the drag on the LE seems smoother than the regular.
  8. As a lot of you know, we've gotten a lot of snow here in the northeast. Been wanting to go ice fishing, but looked at the weather next week and saw that it was gonna warm up. If there's snow on the ice, would the snow have to melt before the ice thaws, or would they both melt at the same time?
  9. My best guess would be that the older wrecks would be more productive. Animals would've had a longer time to establish themselves, making a mini-ecosystem. Just take a look at the artificial reefs in the ocean; the older the wreck, the more productive and diverse the area is.
  10. One advantage of fishing on small ponds is that when the surface freezes over you can walk around the edge and collect all the lures everyone else has lost on the branches.
  11. Hollow belly frog / weightless fluke dragged across the mats and algae, or a punching/weedless jig (All Terrain Grassmaster is a good one) for the subsurface stuff.
  12. Bought a $30 Spro Rat. First cast, got it stuck in some low hanging branches. Broke my line by straight pulling, which made the branch (and the rat's tail) bob up and down. Then saw a huge bass jump out of the water to eat the rat and pull it down in the water where I've never been able to retrieve it (or the fish).
  13. Yes, I've also had problems with the Premier reel seat. Just tighten it occasionally and you'll be fine. However, I haven't had any problems with the reel seat on my St. Croix Avid X.
  14. The Lucky Craft LC Wake is a great bait, but if you buy it on TW try to buy those already in stock. I had to wait 6 months for mine to come in.
  15. I like the 4.8" on a 6/0 Owner Beast Hook. Great action, especially when you pause it and it swims down to the bottom. Have also had great luck reeling it just fast enough so it wakes the surface. However, you sacrifice some durability for action, and short strikers can sometimes rip the tail off. In that case, you could just melt it down into a worm or use it as is for some other application.
  16. I highly recommend you steer clear of the Viscious fluoro. Got it in the 8 lbs. test and the memory was worse than 20 lbs mono despite stretching.
  17. Found a few xCalibur squarebills for $2 today.
  18. I also have a Daiwa Tatula MHF 7' casting rod (with braid) and a St. Croix Avid X MF 7' spinning rod (also w/braid). Which of my three rods would (from your experiences) be best for buzzbaits/spinnerbaits? Just trying to get some information for Spring.
  19. Had great luck today after last night's warm rains which brought the temperature of the pond I fish up to 45 degrees. Very muddy conditions from runoff, but a 1/2 oz. white chatterbait reeled just below the surface produced a 4 lbs. bass and several other decent ones. All fish were caught in 2 feet of water or less.
  20. I use a Owner Beast Hook 5/0 or 4.5" swimbaits with the hook point hidden in the hook slot. The wide gap allows the bait to compress easily, and the hookup ratio is great. The hooks are expensive but worth it
