ANY GOOD MOSQUITO REPELLANTS ????
Thanks Darren, I see your in Hampton Roads as well. Guess you know how brutal the mosquitos here can be. I should have known that. I used high deet sprays in Hatteras that have worked well.

Virginia beach bass
Oak Grove is getting rough. Ive fished there probably more than anywhere else in Chesapeake. Like VaHUnter said it gets a ton of pressure. Ive always had my bet luck there early in the AM around sunrise. I fish the Greenbrier and Great Bridge area a lot. There are a ton of spots to go in these areas. The lakes around greenbrier mall usually pretty good. They are all interconnected to most of the lakes in Greenbrier and the banks can be a hot spot. I went by the mall off greenbrier tonight and parked by sears and walked over to the water, tossed a pink senko in and first cast had a 4LBer. There are no waterways that have good bank access, so most of your success is going to come from small ponds. Cedar Rd has a ton of good little spots along it.

ANY GOOD MOSQUITO REPELLANTS ????
All I do is bank fish and I hate getting tore up by mosquitos. Nothing seems to work. Ive tried sprays, bracelets, someone even suggested dryer sheets in pockets. No luck. what do you'll use ?

Sunglasses
I had a pair of Costas with the blue lens and they were nice. I went to the Costa site and it said the silver mirror lens was good for cloudy days and sight fishing. As much as I love the glasses Im not impressed with the clarity of the silver mirror, the blue lenses are better but I feel there is something better out there. I do a lot of pond hoping and bank fishing and been look at the Oakley Prizm lenses but hesitant to waste the money and be disappointed.

Hampton Roads Bass Fishing Spots
It won't be there for long and I have been run off out of there once, but the old Lake Wright golf course is a good spot. A couple of my buddies fish Bobs and they say guy like me have ruined it. I have a wake boarding boat i drop off at Bobs and leave out of. I know the catfish are good but Ive heard the bass have really fallen off. I do all of my fishing from the bank and I have found a few solid ponds and lakes around Ches/Va Beach area. I fish Oak Grove weekly and have mixed results. I ran into a DGIF officer and he told me they have been stocking it with LM Bass. Again, I am hit or miss there. The biggest i caught was about 4lbs. I know it has to have bigger fish but it is way over fished.

CAPE HATTERAS
Im not that far away from Hatteras Island and spend alot of time there. I have never Bass fished it. Im headed down this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any sport to recommend. Ive hear the Kinnaket Lakes in Avon were just stocked with small mouths. Although Ive never fixed small mouth. Looking for more spots. I have heard of this place called Horseshoe Pond if anyone could tell me where that is that would be awesome. Any help for this Buxton Low Lofe would be more that appreciated !!!!! Thanks

Help! Line Constantly Breaking
Its Trilene 12b Fluro. I literally just put it on a week ago today with brand new line i bought a week ago today as well. I just respolled the reel and and had no issues. I spooled it off the same line i bought last week. I am lost at how it went bad that quick. I checked the rod tip and its in good shape. Tom, Thanks for the tip, seems so simple but i took your advice and snapped some line on the reel and of course it broke, tried it with some new line and i couldn't break it.

Help! Line Constantly Breaking
The fluro is on a brand new Abu Garcia Vengence bait caster. The rods are in good shape. I do keep the rods in my suburban. The rods stay in a Simms rod bag when they are in the truck. I have been wetting the knots as well.

Help! Line Constantly Breaking
My line is new, the Fluro i put on last week and the mono is less than 2 months old. 10-12 lb line, using palmer, trilene knot, and so on. On the reel with the fluro i caught a little 2 under this am, he put up a good little fight. the line was fine. Ive never had anything like this happen before. Also different brands of line.

Help! Line Constantly Breaking
I went fishing this AM, hit a few different spots then finally settled in a little pond. I went to change my hook to a jig head and every knot i tied broke. I tried on different poles with Mono and Fluro and every time i went to tighten it on the hook it broke. Ive never had this happen before . I was thinking maybe its the weather, today is the first day in the 40s that we've had in a very long time. Could it be the weather. I was thinking maybe i went to a spot that had some nasty water thats eating up the line? I have no idea, but all of the sudden every know i tie to a hook or a crank would break. I was tying every common type of knots. I came home let the pole sit in the house for a few hours same result. Anyone have any suggestions on what is happening ?? Thanks Please tell me I'm KNOT crazy

Relocated To Chesapeake Va!
What part of chesapeake are you in ? Are you fishing from shore or a boat ? I have been hitting up Oak Grove lake, although its fished a lot and is hard to catch. Theres a lot of small ponds around Greenbrier and Great Bridge that are decent. The Geico lake in Va Beach is pretty good. I have found a few spots in Chesapeake on Google Maps but not sure if your allowed to go to them. Good luck if you find any good spots let me know.

Where Are The Big Bass
Ponds usually are darker water with god knows what under them. I can feel a definitive grass line as I'm reeling in. Water and air are both still pretty warm. Id say mid 60s right now.

Where Are The Big Bass
Im mainly small lake and pond fishing!!!! Not much current unless the wind is blowing, which tends to be more often in late fall.

Where Are The Big Bass
Ive been snagging a lot of 1-2LBers here last few days. My question is, are big bass close by or in the same area as smaller bass?

Late Fall Tips Needed
Awesome, thanks. Im not a big fan of the blades. I think your right, Im fishing like its winter, yet we haven't had the cold snap yet to get us there. All the water I have been throwing in is still pretty warm. Probably need to speed it up a tad. Thanks for the advice. I was in NOVA 2 weeks ago, Warrenton Area, fished Lake Brittle and Crockett Park not much success. It was pretty windy, hopefully get to try them again in the summer..

Late Fall Tips Needed
Im here in the Hampton Roads area of VA, we have been pretty lucky so far this year. We haven't seen a lot of cold weather yet. Although its starting to get chilly now. This has created a struggle for me. This time of year of, what time of day do fish eat. I seem to have most success around sunrise and sunset. Struggle during the day to get a bite. I do all my fishing from shore primarily small ponds and one good size public lake park. Ive been throwing a texas rigged senko weighted and weightless, some dual tail grubs and seem to get bites with those. Everyone has told me to fish slow, but at times i feel like I'm going to slow. I have had zero success with jigs and spinner baits, slight success with poppers in the AM. I have been getting LGM at about 1-2 LB but I want bigger. I don't need a world record, but a good rod bender would be nice. Throw me some tips.. Thanks

Warrenton //// Luray Area?????
Hey guys, Im up here visiting and need some ideas for bass sports. I tried Germantown Lake and Lake Brittle today. Seems wind was killing it for me. I see a lot of places here on googlemaps. Just not sure if i can go to them or not. Also has anyone seen a sign that says a cooperative wetland project and has ducks unlimited and DGIF logos on it. I saw one at the entrance to what looked to be a good sized pond? There are no signs up saying no trespassing. Anyone know if your allowed to go back there? Thanks

Beginner Needs Some Advice.
Thanks again for all the advice, I went out at sunrise at a little pond. Threw a few with no hits, T-rigged a pink Yamamoto senko and as soon as it hit the water BAM. I snagged my biggest yet. I would assume maybe 3-4 LBS. I also had a lot of luck this weekend with using a dual tail grub. I also dabbled in the drop shot this weekend. Which was very intimidating but I rigged one up and was getting hits right away. One of the biggest things i have learned is not to over weight the lure. Its so easy to weight it down so I can get a good cast. I have used light weights or none. Tough to get use to but huge payoff. Alot of good advice from everyone, THANKS AGAIN.

Beginner Needs Some Advice.
Awesome, Thanks everyone, I think like several have said, I am over thinking it. Also think I am over weighting it in hopes of getting it deeper. Im doing all bank fishing right now. I have a boat but, its a wake boarding boat. Not exactly something I can creep on some fish with. My two main spots are pretty heavily fished so I think i need to focus on technique. Thanks for all the advice. It has made me realize I'm probably over thinking it.

Beginner Needs Some Advice.
Just recently have started fishing again after about 25 years. Seems that catching a Bass is now impossible. What are some simple beginner steps to get me back on the right track. I think i have way over thought this and buying all the lures and working different techniques may be working against me. I have jigs, crank baits, frogs, senkos, spinner baits and so. This morning I finally landed good 2 LBer using a senko on a Texas Rig with a small bullet weight. Im really curious on reeling methods, and sinking the hook methods. Ive heard and seen some reel then stop and let the bait and sink. Some use a constant reel while popping the lure. As for sinking the hook, once i get a bite, I try to let it take another bite so I'm not trying to soon, but seems I usually wait to long. Any advice is beyond appreciated. Heres a pic of my first pic worthy Bass. Im now its not much....
