Stren mono is a good choice for mono leader. I use Berkeley Big Game mono with good results.

You should not lip bowfin, gar, pickerel, northern pike, muskellunge, walleye, or any fish with sharp teeth. Always bring a hook remover when you go fishing.

Thank you for posting this. I have done well using Ned rigs and spinnerbaits in flooded river conditions.

1. Fish where there are bass bigger than your current PB bass. 2. Study the body of water you plan on fishing in. 3. Use techniques known for big bass. 4. Be patient and learn from each fishing trip.

Myth = Spinnerbaits do not work in pressured public water. Truth = I have caught lots of bass on spinnerbaits in pressured public water, and many of those bass where big. Like any other lure there is a time and place spinnerbaits work best.

I have had pet Oscars as well, they are a beautiful fish and it is easy to take care of them. Been catching Oscars in the Everglades and other areas for well over 20 years now. I often catch them over 12 inches long and have caught them over 14 inches long. Rarest Oscar I caught was an Albino Oscar along with a couple Lutino Oscars. Pound for pound they fight harder than any black bass species I have caught and fight harder than many fish of equal size. Definitely a fish worth catching if you enjoy light tackle fishing. With that said you should still try to fish for bass if you have enough time since March-April is a great time of year to catch a big bass in Florida.

Go to Lake Osborne in West Palm Beach county. Focus on fishing near structure. Live bait is your best bet but you can do well with jerkbaits, topwaters, and crankbaits. You should have a good chance at catching peacock bass, largemouth bass, and other species of fish. Good luck and hope you have a great time.

Everyone has personal preferences so use what you like best. For me results is worth more than anything else when it comes to fishing. I have done great using Berkeley Big Game Mono on some of my spinning reels from size 4000 to size 8000. Have caught fish that weigh less than a pound to fish that weigh several hundred pounds on these spinning reels with Berkeley Big Game Mono.

I find it interesting how a fish can have many different names. For example a largemouth bass has many names such as bucketmouth bass, bigmouth bass, green bass, and green trout to name a few. Another example is bowfin where some people call them mudfish, grinnel, dogfish and other names.
