Keitech 7.8 rod?
How is hook sets with that moderate rod? I figured it would be ok with a jig head (exposed hook) but not good for Texas rigged .

Keitech 7.8 rod?
I am trying to talk myself into the big keitechs. I like to rig these weedless and not an exposed hook. I feel like in my 4.8's when fished with a flashy swimmer I get better hooksets with my fast action rod over my mod-fast (daiwa tatula). Fished with a owner beast or flashy swimmer what would be a good rod?

Swing impact fat 5.8 weight
That is not near as bad as I thought. I could not find a weight online (probably did not look in the right place).

Swing impact fat 5.8 weight
Anybody know the weight of the 5.8 swing impact fat? I just ordered a 6 inch swim bait mold and trying to figure out if I will need a new rod to throw it on or not. While you are here, what hook are you guys using? I was thinking the owner weighed beast 6/0 or the 8/0 (not 7 offered or that is what I would probably start off with).

Quest for Jig and T-Rig rod $150
Where are you at in Texas? You can take my Daiwa Tatula 7'2" Heavy Fast 3/8-1 1/2 or my Daiwa Tatula 7'2" Med/Heavy 'Regular' 1/4- 1 and try them for the day if you would like.

First Fishing Kayak
I think the 12 ft Pescador pro is a great little yak. I think for very little more money you could get a Vibe Seaghost 130 which comes with a rudder and paddle (not a great one). I have a Vibe and like it very much. I am not one to push them, but I think they are a nice bang for your buck yak. The new SeaGhost 110 might be up your alley and save you $100. If you have a little more money the Nucanoe Flint is about to come out. It looks really nice and only $999. I have heard great things about Feel Free. I think I would choose the Lure over the Moken b/c of the seat. I preach this over and over. I dont care what yak you get, but make sure it has a raised (comfortable) seat. If you start hurting in it after an hour you wont want to use it. I started off carrying a ton of gear. I realized I did not need 2 dozen packs of the same senko. I still carry a variety of baits, but just not as many of each one. It make things much more simple.

Let's Talk Yaks
I really like mine. I have a trolling motor added on mine and the center console is perfect to store the connections and wiring. If I did not have a trolling motor on it I would look hard at the new flint. I stand and fish out of mine all day.

Let's Talk Yaks
I have a Vibe Sea Ghost 130 and think the 110 would be great. I have friends that love theirs. If you can scrape up a few more penny's the Nucanoe Flint looks like an awesome yak too. Now days as long as you get one with a raised seat you can't go wrong. I liked my 10 foot pescador pro and wish I still had it for my son. I will be buying him something next year.

Chatterbait Rod for open watersHi
I have a custom glass rod from TigerRodz I had made for chatterbaits if you are interested. I fish from a kayak so how many rods I take is limited and since I don't catch them on chatterbaits it sits in the closet every trip.

Tatula SV TWS
Not too worried about line capacity as I use braid with fluoro leaders and don't use a lot of braid.

Tatula SV TWS
I have a rod needing a reel. Are these the same size as the CT Type R's? The rod is a MH but would I be wrong thinking to swap reels and put it on my M rod that I use to cast shaky heads and lighter baits to get the most out of the SV spool?

Whopper Plopper what line and rods are you using for the different sizes?
I use this same rod and same line. I think it's perfect for the 110.
-
Who mainly uses the same lures every time they fish? - I'm down to the same 4 lures
I start off with same group of baits but I might rig them differently. I am a bank beater. I'm like you, a whopper plopper 110 is my topwater bait. I fish a senko next. Wacky if possible or Texas rigged if I have to. A Texas rigged baby brush hog is normally tied on. I can easily change this to other soft plastics if I need to. A keitech swing impact fat is tied on with a flashy swimmer head if possible. If not I go weedless with a swimbait hook. That is normally where I start. Chatterbaits, shakyheads, jigs and other baits are in my tackle bag but normally get pulled out later.
