  1. Aaron Martens said that he only uses a 1/8th weight until he's dropping into 30+ft deep. If there's wind then maybe go up to 3/16th. Over 1/4 ounce is overkill unless its a special deep situation.
  2. Have a ML/XF fenwick elite tech coming in the mail. Gonna use it as an all around spinning rod for dropshotting, weightless senkos, maybe a shakeyhead. To be honest though I guess I was just focused on the fact that it was a ML, I hope having it be a XF action won't ruin its ability as an all around rod
  3. Okay so I'm pretty much set on the rareneium ci4+. Only thing that kinda worried me is the 5.0.1 gear ratio. I know there is a HG model but I can only find the 1000s. Do you think that'll be too slow? Btw I'm doing mostly shallow fishing. I definitely won't be doing any drop shorting in 40+ ft of water haha
  4. Why would be a good Shimano reel to pair with a 7' M/F St.croix Avid x? Definitely looking for a very low profile and light one
  5. Hey I'm about 45 mins from Dworshak! I'm shorebound though, so it's way to big to try and fish it.
  6. Okay I found it. I'm seeing a Stradic and also the rareneium, do they just also sell the USDM version?
  7. To be honest I like the look of a FK better, and think it would look better with the rod, which is gonna be a fenwick elite bass tech
  8. Well see budget isn't a huge issue. 220 is certainly the highest, and even that makes me uncomfortable a little. What I'm trying to do is buy myself one real nice spinning set up now so I don't go through a whole process of small upgrades, which will in the end cost me more money. I'd be pairing it with a $150 rod. So I'd be jumping from a $80 combo to a $350 combo. But I'm shorebound and only plan on having 2 combos, so I figure I might as well make them nice ones
  9. Thanks for the reply. Do you think there would be any difference in durability?
  10. Was planning on getting the CI4+ but I found a good deal on the FJ for $130. I guess I wouldn't mind waiting for the ci4+ to go on sale but if this is a good deal I don't wanna pass it up. Thoughts?
  11. Anybody tried Siebert Outdoors swim jig? I know it's a very popular site for high quality jigs but I haven't heard much about his swim jigs
  12. I'm leaning towards an avid x instead of the tatula. I think I like the x version more than the original(must be the kid in me), but the micro guides kinda worry me. Does the avid series run true with their power or is it a little heavy/light?
  13. Haha yeah I've done my fair share of reading and there definitely doesent seem to be an undisputed best. I was thinking maybe a st. Croix avid x or a Dawai tatula
  14. I'd like to stay around $150, but am willing to go as high as $200 if it really seems like an outstanding rod. Also trying to stay in the 6'10" to 7' range
  15. You're right. It's probably me not the rod. I'm just getting into bass fishing. I'm limited to two rods because I'm shorebound. I know some people have more but that just sounds too inconvienent. I'm pairing it with a ML spinning rod. For the spinning gear it'll mostly be light drop shots and maybe wacky rigs
  16. I plan on going with a fast action whether it be a M or MH
  17. I'm a bank fisherman, and would use the rod primarily for 3/8th/1/2 oz spinner baits, chatter baits and lipless crankbaits. Also throw some buzzbait and frogs. Maybe the occasional t rigged plastic I don't throw many jigs but I may start to soon, and I imagine it would be a lot of 3/8th with the occasional 1/2 ounce. I have a MH right now. I like having the extra backbone, but I can't cast 3/8th bait quite as far as I like. Would scaling down to a medium power rod significantly improve casting distance?
