  1. You kinda sound a little bit like me. Looks like your a Dobyns fan. I actually forgot to add that one to my orig post as a "check them out". I have heard so much good hype about the Curado that I think one might fall into my shopping cart while at tackledirect. I was surprised to see while talking to a lot of boat fisherman either coming or going off the launch that most had 3..... sometimes 4 rods on their boat. Thats my goal, 3 or 4.
  2. I am happy to see this topic. I recently purchased two presidents per recommendation of new fishing neighbor. Have one on a McGill skeeter medium light/fast 7.2 For 60 buck it impressed me. Very very smooth. I see the have a few model very similar ...but way more money. Believe patriarch was one with I thought was closer to $250. I'm just wondering if they are any smoother than mine. Did see someone stated on on other topic "yes smoother" but that's hard to believe. Would have to try for myself. p.s. I switched from Mitchell 300 ' s to the Plueger so you can see why I think they are silky smooth. A friend of mine passed away any I inherited his collection of over 20 of the mitchell 300 's so picked a new one to fish with.
  3. new to this site yesterday (or day before) ? greetings to everyone. I look forward to spending time on this site and making a few friends and becoming a better fisherman. spent hours reading old post trying to figure out what high end baitcasting and spinning rod & reels to buy. Have ONLY used spinning gear to date so really looking forward to getting a new baitcasting setup. My list of baitcasting reels to look at includes: Curado 200I Abu Garcia Revo, MGX xtreme Quantum Tour MG Duckett 360 series Rods: Mega bass Orochi xx Kistler Helium 3 G. Loomis IMX & GLX St. Croix Legend (and others) Seeker Shimano I do quite a bit of salt water fishing and would like to get knee deep into bass and freshwater fishing. I like to purchase high quality gear and really don't mind spending the extra money. I hate junk. I know that rods are specific to certain types of fishing but I am not at that level yet. Just used spinnerbaits, texas rigs, jitterbugs, carolina rigs, metals, crankbaits, soft plastics, swimbaits, .... (have not tried drop shot yet but plan on trying everything). I live in upstate New York, near Albany. I do not know of any large high end tackle shops close to me to browse so decided to drive to Jersey (tackledirect). I wish I knew of some place closer as 4 1/2 hours is a long way to drive to look at tackle. BassProshop is in Mass is closer but I doubt they will carry all the items I wish to look at. Does anyone know of someplace closer that they could recomend ?
