  1. I do not currently have a bass specific powerboat but I have had small bass boats in the past. I love my kayaks but I am not sure you can cover all bases with either as each has their pros and cons. There are so many places that I cannot go with a larger powerboat and in many places it is simply illegal. I have also owned several canoes and cannot think of a worser vehicle for fishing, YRMV.
  2. I have an old Daiwa PMF1000 baitcaster and I have it on a ml cheapo Daiwa rod about 6.5 feet. With Stren 8/10 pound line it easily throws lightweight lures including these ned rigs. I was told by a fellow it would not and then to his surprise I was throwing just about as far and as well as he using spinning gear. And, we were not really needing to cast all that far.
  3. Are the chains/chain too short. That you were turning and only at 5MPH the only way a properly sized safety chain could/should break is if they were pulled tight by being too short. Some trailers and chains are set up such that crossing them makes them too short and is not needed or correct.
  4. I am new to bass fishing from a kayak but I have owned and do own several kayaks now for over a decade. I use them mostly for SCUBA diving, free dive spearfishing and saltwater fishing. I have landed fish that would make the largest bass look like a minnow (well, relative of course) and ranged several miles to sea, rode out storms and launched and landed through surf. Kayaks are a blast. My first few bass kayak outings proved fruitful but a steep learning curve. I have never flipped a yak except in the surf and early on when I first started handling SCUBA gear on and off the kayak. My new little Emotion Stealth Angler 10 seems very stable though not as fast as my nearly 15 foot long Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro TW. I think the little Stealth will do great, fits in the bed of my Taco, I can carry it, seems perfect for small water. J
  5. My second post on here. Earlier this past summer I bought two new Curado 200 I reels, one 6 ratio and the other a 7 ratio. There is a slip of yellow paper that tells you to oil the brakes and number two bearing every five times. Just do it if there is any sound. I have never oiled them and they have never made any sound. I like Shimano products, they are made in Shimano factories by Shimano employees be it in Japan or Malaysia. I ride their stuff on my bicycles for years, have their cycling shoes and equipment, their derailleur sets on several bicycles, I trust them and like them. I also have a Bantam reel I bought back around 92 or so. Still use it. J
  6. My first post here. Just a photo of my favorite reel I have owned since circa 1973 now installed on a new Falcon Amistad Low Rider rod. Anyways, hello, y'all have a lot of nice fishing rigs. Thanks for sharing. J
