  1. Hello, I am a 28 yr old who enjoys fishing on the lake. I moved into a lake house property, on Lake Conroe, in June of this year. I am married with a wife and 2 kids. I have fished growing up, but never got into it until recently. I purchased a John Boat to take my family out fishing. We all enjoy fishing, however the kids get bored very quickly, and my wife only likes to troll. So the majority of the time out on the boat is by myself. We have caught a few nice sized fish while trolling. I am looking to learn how to catch the bigger bass. I am a Firefighter as well. Every summer in Texas, There is the Firefighter Olympics. Well this year they are adding a fishing tournament. I am excited to participate in this. Will be my first tournament. I try and fish every day that I am off. However with the colder water I have not been so successful. I have read articles on winter fishing, using crankbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, lipless crankbaits, and just starting to use jigs. I have not caught any bass as of yet. Looking to learn as much as I can.
  2. Has anyone been fishing lately on lake Conroe, if so what lures have been working to catch bass this time of year? And where are you finding them at?
  3. I am unable to find any articles from jack Yates, or foshfordollars under member search. If you could post a link to his articles that would be great.
  4. Hello, I have been fishing since I was a little boy. My father would always take us to Arkansas to fish where his parents lived. However, the only type of fishing we did was trolling. I now have a family of my own and when I take them out on the boat to fish we too troll. It is easier for my two young girls to behave and fish that way. I have a 14' jon boat with a Hummingbird 197c. It is off the back of the boat to scan down. I like to use the trolling motor and cast out to catch the fish. I went out yesterday with a friend of mine and we caught a total of 5 fish. 3 small bass, 1 - 2 lb bass and he hooked a channel catfish with a lipless crank bait. I am not very good at determining what type of lure to use for different conditions. It was overcasy most of the day and windy. Is there anyone out there that could help me out and point me in the right direction to catch more bass during this time of year. I have read to follow the bait fish. When we did find the bait fish we did not catch any bass. All help and tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
