  1. We had a great weekend, she out-fished me two of the three days on the lake. We didn't catch the big one or do very well numbers wise but we still enjoyed our time together--as always.
  2. We are planning to spend the weekend (starting 5/24) fishing Toledo Bend. We will be staying near Cyprus Bend State Park. The last time we were there, we did pretty well around the Housen Bay area. I think we will explore Lowes Creek and the Negreet Pass area. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  3. I apologize for my late report. I launched at Fin & Feather about 2 pm Tuesday and fished the little island at the entrance to Hurricane then ventured on into Hurricane. I had no bites at the island but lost two in the grass on the West side of Hurricane. One on a black worm with blue tail shaky head, and the other on a weightless Grande Bass blue flake Snake O. I never could locate the submerged road going across Hurricane. I also lost one with the black worm blue tail shaky head along the old pilings at Fin & Feather. The next morning my son and I launched about 7:30 (after the rain stopped). We fished all around the 5 way creek bed intersection between Fin & Feather and Hurricane with no bites. We spent several hours with crank baits, c-rig worms, spoons, spinner baits, swim baits and rattle traps. NOTHING! So we moved on into Hurricane. The crank bait and swim bait (about 15 feet down) along the East side of Hurricane near the entrance point produced a couple of nice fish (2 - 2.5 lbs). We fished that area for a while but had no more bites. We went over to the West side and fished the grass. Again the weightless Snake O produced a nice fish. We also lost one with a big black worm on a shaky head. That's about it for the fish. On another note, the Bald Eagle put on nice show for us catching fish and chasing the coots around. Also, I spent the day fishing with my 19 year old college student son. We both know were not just fishing.
  4. I should be there before noon today. Looking forward to it and hoping to report back with good news!
  5. Thanks for the input Catt. We will certainly spend some time on the south bank of Hausen.
  6. The weather forcast couldn't look any better for next Tuesday and Wednesday (12/15 - 12/16). We have our reservation for Fin & Feather. After reading through most of this thread, I have this beginning plan: I am looking at my AID Lake Map at Hausen Bay. Just to the NW of Fin & Feather it looks like 5 creek channels intersect in the midst of an uncleared area (flooded timber) in about 50 ft of water. The point on the E side of the Hurrican Bayou cove is nearby and the depth ranges from 12 to 32 to 52 feet. I beleive I will start there. There are creek channel intersections all around this area. I am not sure I will need to leave Hausen Bay in the two days of fishing. Also, the submerged road running across the entrance to Hurrican Bayou cove looks very good to me, I'm thinking a spoon down either side. Any thoughts on this, the beginning plan?
  7. I continue to read through this thread. It looks like I need to pick up a few white spinner baits for my Toledo Bend trip in a couple of weeeks. I am heading to BP later today, I will also look for some Gene Larew Salty Ringworms. I don't recall ever seeing those, but I am sure I can find something simular. Thanks to all who have commented here. I will give a report on our trip when we return but be advised--we fish plenty of times and DONT CATCH NOTHING!
  8. I have my reservation for Fin & Feather on the 15th. I should get there late morning and my son (on his way home from college) in the afternoon. We will fish that day, stay the night, fish the 16th and head home in the evening. This is our first trip to Toledo Bend but I have been reading this thread and studying my A.I.D. lake map. I plan to stay in the Hausen Bay and Six Mile Bay area. It looks as though all the necessary componants are there and I don't want to spend the little time we have boat riding. Ratle Trap, C-rig, weightless, spinner baits, shaky head, spoons, and deep crankbaits are on the menu. I will try to keep the boat in about 15 ft of water or deeper, looking for structure and creek/road bed intersections. Any other advice is appreciated and if you see us say hello--16 ft brown Fisher bass boat with a 40 HP Merc. Thanks...
