Taking our friends' son fishing for the first time in a couple days: 13 Ambition 4'6" ML combo Small tackle box of Flu-Flus, Zip-Zips, Moon Eye Jigs, and Woolie Bugger Jigs, with a few soft plastic trailer options. And of course had to throw in a pack of Baby Rage Craws in white/pearl for myself (haven't had much success with straight pearl where I usually fish - no shad - but am hoping the magic of the Rage Craws will overcome my hesitation to use this color.

Tungsten vs Lead
No problem. You could probably get away with a regular cigarette lighter, but notice in the vid AM uses a pocket torch. I got one from REI a few years ago made by Soto for $20. You just drop in a cheap Scripto lighter (not the rounded Bic variety) and it focuses the flame nicely. I think they're similar to, if not the same as a jeweler's torch.

Tungsten vs Lead
Yes! Search YouTube for "Aaron Martens Tungsten Weight Trick" and there are a few vids demonstrating. I've done this to all my tungsten worm weights and it's very easy. Size 3/32 heat shrink tubing works best I've found, available at Ace Hardware among others for about $1/8pk of tubes. Each tube can cover 2-4 weights approximately, depending on weight size and your technique. I'm sure some extremely frugal guys could do 5 or 6 small weights haha. The nice part with shrink tube is that it flairs out, over any sharp edges of the weight created by the bored hole. But I guess the ultimate braniac question becomes: "Does the insert negate some of the tungsten's sensitivity by creating even the smallest of buffers between weight and line?" The world may never know, or someone with too much time on their hands will figure it out. For me, the biggest appeal of tungsten isn't the sensitivity factor, but the size difference vs lead. Wait, found it:

Promotion confirmed. Only the DSG down the street from me hadn't a clue. 2 other locations were spot on, though small selection. Sale ended the 21st I think, but when they do have sales, I feel like they're really good, vs othe big box stores.

Coupon or in-store promotion? Just checked my local DSG and they didn't jive, but they stock very little MB.

The archangel (with kp) and the nrx (with revo rocket) are very similar in weight, despite the aa being 4" longer. The butt section is also about 1/2-1" longer than the nrx, which is to my liking, plus the aa's overall grip is thinner. I have fat palms and shorter fingers, so I like a grip that isn't too stout. Makes it very easy to palm a reel. The nrx is still better in hand, in my opinion, than the bulbous grips on say a st.c legend tournament or xtreme. Now I haven't got to lay the wood with either, only been to the park with casting plug and the aa can certainly fling. I got the nrx as more of a light pitching rod and the aa for heavier swim jigs, bladed jigs, even football jigs. If the sensitivity of a submerged bait is anywhere near what I could feel (eyes shut) from just the casting plug, the aa is probably going to supplant my legend xtreme as my main weapon of choice. Aesthetically, the aa is superior to the nrx if you prefer sports cars to jeep wranglers, but the classic green nrx is sharp in its simplicity I think.

Jackall pompadour
Yep, great lures (reg and jr). Add some intensity by casting it out there in the moonlight. Then the blowups are even more magnified. Haven't caught anything of good size yet but tons of fun. Super sticky hooks too, and unfortunately I lost my first one on a spasm cast toward a boat lift (landed on top corner of awning). Went to the homeowner to apologize and offer to pay for any repairs. They thought nothing of it and said it happens. Next day I realized I apologized to the wrong homeowners haha and I was too embarrassed to do it a second time.

We ALL have the problem; it's why we're here. I feel sorry for the wayward souls who haven't found this place. And yeah, I got the archangel on black friday sale, and kp on the bmclassic sale. Have only been out to the park with a casting plug so far. It's a big leap of faith since there aren't any real reviews, but I really like what I see/feel so far.

Been reading this thread the last few days. How therapeutic. I had no idea this existed. Will certainly have some stuff to share, but if only I'd stumbled in a year or two ago...I might've been saved.
